Owl to Geoffrey Goyle
Dear Mr. Goyle,
I am writing with inquiries about Professional Quidditch and who is eligible to play on teams. As you are probably aware, I used to be a Chaser for the Wigtown Wanderers, earning my spot on the team directly out of Hogwarts. I, however, chose to step down from the team when the War was getting hard, spending my time volunteering at St. Mungo's in efforts to help the over crowding at the Hospital.
While I believed at the time that I was making the right choice, I never stopped training for the sport and had plans to return to the sport as a career once the war was over. As a current member of the AMP programme, however, I have been unable to seek out a try-out for a team on my own.
I am well aware of my role in the AMP programme and the expectations placed upon me. I am doing my best to acclimate to the new society, however, being told that I probably would never play Quidditch professionally again because of the programme has struck a lot of dissonance within myself.
I have done my research, and there are several women who played the sport at the same time as raising babies; most of them remaining on the team during even the first trimester of the pregnancy under the guidance of a highly trained Healer. It is my belief that playing professionally will enhance the household that I am to form with my soon-to-be husband, and will not hinder the rebuilding of the Pureblood society in anyway. I will adhere to the programme, and once married, have no problem with being a wife, mother, and Quidditch player.
If you granted me the permission to try-out for the sport, and any speculation arose later that I wasn't fulfilling my part in the AMP because Quidditch was getting in the way, I would respectfully resign without a fight. I firmly believe that I, like many other women in the past, can handle both the responsibilities to the sport and team as well as the responsibilities to my family and society.
Any situation where curfew might be called into question, or traveling, I do not expect to travel alone, nor do I expect to be out past curfew unsupervised. If there is not someone eligible on the team to do so, my fiance and I will arrange for either he, or one of his peers, to escort and chaperon me. I do not intend on embarking on this endeavor without my fiance's approval and interest in me doing so.
I apologise for taking up so much time with this letter. I had intended to be more concise, but as you can see, I am very passionate about the sport and playing in it. If you would like to see my research, the names of the women who were both mothers and players, I will gladly send that to you. If you have any other concerns that I have not covered or touched on, please ask. I would be glad to answer any of them.
