It's all about the hair, darling
WHO: Parvati Patil and Mikael Harper
WHEN: Wednesday, June 18th, 2002 - morning
WHERE: Mikael's apartment
WHAT: Parvati wants to prove that she is not a girly girl and can get her hair done faster than Mikael.
RATING: E for Everyone
STATUS: In Progress

Mikael despised getting up in the morning. No, that was one of the understatements of the century. He hated getting up in the morning. Hated it from the very depths of his black heart. Mornings were definitely not for him. Today he couldn't even do his usual "fuck I actually have to leave in 10 minutes" routine because Parvati would be coming over. Not that Mikael was very keen on girly girls (he still firmly believed that Parvati belonged to that group) but he wouldn't have anyone call him a bad host, so he had dragged himself out of bed and down the street to get breakfast - including a bottle of champagne, of course. He had to gain something from the horrible experience of getting up so early. After that was set Mikael flopped down on the couch, sleepily sipping his coffee and waiting.

Parvati rolled her eyes as she stepped further into the building, deliberately refusing to look around. Instead she smiled a cocky smirk at Mikael, "Really? Are you sure it was not the good twin that just left?"

Mikael annoyed her. He had a big ego and he had called her girly. Of course, she knew she was girly but he made it sound like an insult. "Fine. I suppose we could put a little prize in it. What's your suggestion?" She'd just be happy seeing him admit to everybody that he lost and he was not all that great.

"Nope, I am the good twin, believe me. The bad twin wouldn't have gotten breakfast for you," Mikael winked.

"My suggestion...hm that's tough. Okay if you loose you have to be my personal servant for one day and if I loose I'll be yours."

She chose to ignore the breakfast comment. While her stomach did enjoy the thought of food, it was a little too early to eat. She just wanted to beat him and get it over with.

"You're kidding, right?" Parvati laughed, raising an eyebrow at him. He could not be serious. That was absolutely childish! Her sister used to make the same conditions. "Don't you have those house-elves or something to do that? I don't think I could stand being around you for more than five minutes. No, if I win I want you to admit to everybody that you are most definitely not as great as you seem to think you are."

"Actually, I wasn't kidding. I like to play high." Taking another sip of coffee Mikael watched her with an amused smirk.

"and no, I don't have house-elves. They creep me out. Surprised that I am actually doing stuff myself? Because let me tell you, darling, that I don't think I am great, I just know my abilities well. If you don't believe that, blame it on my parents for giving me a name that means 'Who is like God?'. See, not my fault. But alright, if you win I'll admit to everybody that I am not great. What will you do for me if I win?"

"Yes, and Parvati is the name of an Indian Goddess, but you don't see me telling everybody to worship me." Her retort was slightly snappy, but she couldn't help it. Blaming his ego on a name was the most ridiculous thing ever. Bloody man. Tapping her finger on her bottom lip as she thought, she started to smirk. Parvati moved her hands to her hips and smiled.

"Actually, how about we play it your way? I'd love to have you as my personal servant for a day." She would make the git go with her and her friends to every store possible. Carry the bags. And listen as they gossiped and did every girly thing imaginable.

"Your mistake for not telling everyone to do so." Mikael laughed.

"I knew you'd go for a bit of risk, darling. We'll see who is whose servant within the hour, I'd say. I assume you want us to come to the actual challenge, then?"

"Well I'm certainly not here to enjoy your amazing wit." He seemed to step on every one of Parvati's nerves. More than anything she found herself wanting to just beat him to death. In her mind she was already trying to decide between a brush or a hair iron.

"Right. Well, let's get to it. I'm eager to see the look on your face when you lose."

"No look to see, I'll be a charming loser and you'll hate me even more for it," With a wink he led her to the bathroom, which was easily big enough for two.

"Just so we have it settled, no doing the easiest style just so we'll be faster. We'll do what we do every day, step by step."

It figured the git would have a bathroom the size of a small bedroom. Actually, the size of her bedroom give or take a bit. Parvati kept her cocky grin, though she was cursing inwardly. So much for just a braid. "Fine. Let's just get on with it, shall we?"

"Sure, darling. Towels are over there and you should easily find everything else you need. Ready, steady, go." with another grin he set to work, trying to suppress another yawn. Damn, he hated mornings.

"A little too early for you?" Parvati could easily talk and do her hair at the same time. It was something every girl managed at a young age, after all. Especially with a twin sister. Pulling out her bag she brought out her brush and set upon her hair. To give him a little bit of help she did not bring out she normally wore her hair down most days. Instead she pulled out her yellow hairbands and decided on proper pigtails. Unbraided, of course.

Everything before noon is too early for me. I am not a morning person," Mikael replied, absently-minded muttering a drying spell after washing his hair. How great, obviously today had to be one of the days where his hair wouldn't behave at all.

"Poor boy. However do you manage?" He really did bring out the worst in her. She smiled, humming happily just to annoy him. Hopefully he was the type to hate the perky people in the morning. Brushing her hair into her pigtails she looked in the mirror for a bit, arranging any stray hairs so it looked as good as possible. Why did she use yellow hairbands? They did not go with her outfit at all and she had left the blue ones at home. Oh no. Pulling out her wand she turned parts of her clothing yellow to match, tugging off the outer shirt she had used with her jogging. Oh well, good enough.

Smiling, she leaned against the wall and watched him work. She didn't want to announce done yet. It was too much fun mocking him.

"Drowning my sorrow in alcohol," Mikael retorted without actually looking at her, too busy trying to arrange his hair into something that wasn't too neat but also not too messy. After two more minutes he was somewhat satisfied, turning around and smiling at Parvati.

"Told you that I hated my hair."

"No worries. I hate your hair too." Oh great, now she actually was in quite a good mood. "Look, I managed to do my hair AND change my outfit in the time it took you. So does this make you a girl?"

She had the overwhelming urge to mess up his hair, but managed to resist it. That would be quite mean. "So what day do you want for slave duty?"

"Really? now that saddens me. Time for breakfast," He added with a smirk, leading her back to the living room.

"Probably, but a very pretty girl." Flopping down on the couch he reached for a piece of toast.

"I don't care, whenever you want is most likely fine with me. Any preferences?"

"What is for breakfast, by the way? And how in the world did you manage to make it if you dislike mornings so much?" She raised an eyebrow, allowing herself to be moved from one room to the next. He was so pushy.

"Friday, most definitely. I have to work in the morning, but I'm out before noon. I plan on meeting with some friends of mine for last minute accesory shopping." She smiled. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll have loads of fun."

"Didn't know what you like, so I pretty much took a bit of everything. And yes, I dislike mornings but I got up extra early just so I could get breakfast. See, I am not that selfish." Pouring himself another cup of coffee Mikael leaned back, wrinkling his nose a little at the mention of shopping with a horde of girls.

"Fine, Friday it is." He'd simply bring some alcohol and drink until the whole ordeal got pleasant.

Parvati made a soft hmph noise as the thought of him being unselfish. Fine. Everything had to happen at least once. Looking around Parvati picked managed to find some orange juice and simple toast. She felt odd eating around strangers. She looked him over as she sipped on her juice, trying to figure him out.

"You need to be on your best behaviour too. Or I'll find some way to keep you busy all day." She made a mental list of things she needed. Earrings, shoes, a couple scarves, some bracelets, maybe a necklace or two. So much for proving she wasn't a girly girl.

"I'm a well behaved boy, I am always on my best behaviour, don't worry. I've survived enough of my mother's tea parties too. Well, not at best behaviour, but I did. So don't fret, I won't embarrass you. Where shall we meet?"

finishing his toast Mikael reached for muffin, already hearing the voice of his mother going on about how bad such food was for him. It only caused him to enjoy the muffin even more.

"Don't embarrass yourself either." She rolled her eyes and, childishly, grabbed the muffin he was already going for. She deliberately took a quick bite, chewed, and smirked a little. "I suppose we can meet at my boutique, it's Dulce Fleur in downtown London. Don't come until close to noon though or you'll be forced to watch the horror of brides-to-bes, pissed off bridesmaids, and me sticking them all with pins. All very girly. You'd despise it."

Mikael smirked at her as he leaned back again. She might be a girly girl, but at least one that proved to be a challenge.

"No worries, I've survived the wedding of my sister so I can take the horror brides. Besides I have a ton of work to do, so the chance of me being early is fairly small.

"Well don't you dare be late either. I do not want my friends spending too much time ogling the dresses because then they start asking how come I don't offer discounts for them. Just be on time, alright?" She happily worked on the stolen muffin, glad he seemed to have given up eating for the moment. Not bad. He had to have bought the baked goods because she didn't imagine him as much of a cook.

"I am never late either, don't worry so much. I'll be there. On time. Prim and proper and at your service," Mikael replied, continuing to sip his coffee.

"so you have your own store? That's pretty impressive."

"Not my own, really. It's a partner thing, really. I mostly help with the customer service end and the actual labor. My partner handles accounting, promotion, blah blah blah. She thinks I'm more sociable than she is." Parvati shrugged, relaxing in her chair. She probably should not stick around. He would simply annoy her more. Though she was hoping to annoy him first.

"What do you do? Or do you even work?"

"Well, basically everything law related. At the moment I am not allowed to be in court, I'll have to do the paperwork and stuff for a little bit longer. So that's what I mostly do. Paperwork. Preparing the cases for the judges, assisting them if they need me and so on and so forth."

"Ewwww, how boring. How in the world can you stand it?" She actually did wrinkle her nose this time. Law was probably the most boring thing in the world. Next to History, of course. She sipped at her orange juice, finding herself rather comfortable. That itself had to be a sign to leave soon.

"Well, as lovely as it was beating you I think I have to leave. All the local witches have put their dresses on order so it's a mess. This marriage thing is really driving our sales." Parvati smiled happily, thinking of the bonuses come next quarter. It would definitely keep them in the green. And I obviously need to leave before I go mad. "I'd say lovely meeting you, but.. Parvati let a faint "You wish" float through the air as she hurried to the floo. If she went fast enough she'd be running to work before she knew it. Shiva knew she needed her mind clear. A civil conversation with a jerk like Mikael. The apocalypse must be coming.
