Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current location:Ron's place, above the shop, Diagon Alley

Backdated one day due to my posting location error!!
Who:  Ron Weasley and Ana Summers
When: Early, early Wednesday morning, July 30th
Where: Ron's Flat, above WWW shop, Diagon Alley
Rating: PG
Summary: Getting back from the Bowie Concert; showing her the place
Status: Closed/InComplete

There were too many charms and hexes on the building, protecting it from random apparating, theft, and of course, potentially hostile or resentful Death Eaters who might be holding a grudge.  Ron turned to Ana, "I have to reverse the charms to get into the stair well.  The flat has additional locking charms on it.  George is a bit suspicious about people trying to steal some of his inventions.  I'll teach them to you; you'll need to know them to get in and out of here.  There is a floo entrance on each floor.  That's how I normally get from floor to floor, unless I feel like walking."

He unlocked the doors and ushered her inside, to turn and reset the locks.   He lead her up the stairs, to the top landing and unlocked the locking spells with his wand and a few words.  He opened the door and led her inside.

He was nervous about her reaction.  So far, the evening had been fantastic.  The concert was amazing, and he had gotten them each a t-shirt.  David Bowie had been fantastic in concert.  Ron could not wait to go to another concert.  It had been one of his firsts, and he had told her that.  He moved into the place, and gestured, "There's a large balcony, with stairs leading up to a roof patio garden area above.   We've got three bedrooms, and three bathrooms," and then he pointed to the kitchen, "Mum insisted we have a good kitchen, and that," he said pointing to couch, "Was a gift from Da, for my NEWT scores."

He moved to stand behind the counter, and looked at her, "What do you think?  We can change it to suit you better, I expect.  Not everyone is crazy about the orange, I know.  My brothers give me huge grief for even getting an orangish couch."

Charms and hexes to learn to get in. Oh boy, of course there would be more than most normal places had, ones that required you to lift them. They were never her strong point in school. At least she didn't have to worry about this just yet. She'd have time to practice and mess it all up later, but she'd rather not worry about it at the moment.

The flat was nice, she had to admit. Even the color didn't bother her. It was bright, and friendly. Completely different from hers, but still nice. Everyone had always told her any Weasley Home would be in bad shape...but this was quite nice. Apparently the next generation knew how to make money. Her parents, who were actually completely loaded, would probably approve.

"It's nice." she said with a nod, walking over to the kitchen area to observe what he had. It was all she could do to not start making plans to renovate, change things, make them better. But there was nothing wrong with this place. She just had a problem with design. She always had to do it until she was satisfied. If they ever built a house? She was going to make sure it was exactly the way she liked it. "It's quite nice, actually. We don't have to change. I always walk into a room and start thinking of ways to change it." she shrugged. "Natural reaction. I like the orange though, it's cheerful." she wasn't sure if it represented anything, other than his hair. But it was still a nice spot.

"The orange is because of the Canons. Their my favorite Quidditch team."

He stood and looked around the room, pleased that she liked it. And he had to chuckle some at her comment about wanting to change it, "You know, you might get along with my mum better than you think. She's like that. That's why we have a different kitchen. She walked in and the first thing she did was said it had to be fixed."

His eyes watched her move about his place, and he corrected himself, their place, and he thought it suited her. Although he wasn't sure the orangish tones went with her hair and the colors she seemed drawn to wear. He cleared his throat, "If you have ideas to improve this place, I think we should do them. It will make it more ours than mine that way. I think we shouldn't have too much of a problem affording it. I'm actually doing fairly well right now," and his words were an understatement. The shop was doing fantastic, and because of his design work, George had starting shooting almost half the profits of the place towards him. The auror program had also raised their salary; even at an entry level, he was making more than his dad had been making for all those years before he had gotten his promotion. For once in his life, money was starting to not be a huge problem.

He watched her, and thought about the small box he had in his bedroom, on his table in there. He thought maybe he should show her the other rooms. And then he could give her the ring he'd found for her. They had been having such a great time tonight. Maybe they could watch the sun come up together.

"How about we make some coffee? I can show you the rest of the place, and we can sit outside and watch the sun for a bit? If you're up to it? I know I've got some revitalizing potions here, for us to take, if the night is starting to catch up with us."

"The Cannons, really? I'm a fan of the Tornado's myself." though she wasn't completely mad about Quidditch, she followed it like most wizards and witches. She found herself a fan of the Tornado's. They may not have been the best, but for whatever reason she always found herself supporting them.

She looked over her shoulder at him with a smile. "You're mother sounds very nice." Ana could only hope she got a long with the woman. The idea of having in-laws that hated her was a little intimidating. She had heard many things about mister and misses Weasley. Like how they could probably put her in her spot in two seconds.

"Well, I'm sure I can think of things. And I know we can afford it." she said with a shrug. "I've got a lot of contacts in the design world, it's easy to get great stuff for cheaper when you know the right people." she wasn't doubting that he was doing well for himself, that much was obvious. But she came from money, and she wanted to help out as well. "Between our jobs, and the money I'll eventually get from my family, I'm sure we'll be fine." She and her sister were going to be getting equal shares to their parents fortune, and it would be quite a bit. Though hopefully she wouldn't be seeing that money for years.

"Coffee, definitely." Ana lived off coffee. She drank more of that than anything else. She was almost positive her blood had been replaced by the stuff, since she drank so much of it. "I'm up for it, and the potion would be nice. I do have to work in a few hours." she said, glancing to the watch on her wrist. But with the potion, and coffee, she should be able to make it through the day, and then crash when she finally got home.

"The Tornados?! Oh no! But I guess I have to give you Brevis Birch. He does lead them pretty well," and he smiled over at her as he began to put on the water for the coffee. He pulled beans out of the fridge, and set them to grinding with a spell. He had a French press that he liked to use; something he had picked up when had really starting getting into good coffee. He was grinning now; they were talking about Quidditch! He couldn't believe it! And she liked coffee. He checked in the fridge, and found a bag of pastries he had put in there the day before. He pulled them out as well, and used a heating charm to warm them slightly. He found a plate, and felt proud of himself for offering his meager domestic services to her.

"Go ahead and look in the rooms," and then he stopped as he set up the coffee to brew, and thought he'd give it a few minutes before he'd press it, "Wait, here. Let me show you," and he moved past the couch to turn right. The three bedrooms were along this hall; the master bedroom had its own bath and a large walk in closet that clearly had a charm on it to make it roomier. The other two rooms had simple beds in them; they served his family who came to visit and they shared a bath between them.

When she was looking at the rooms, he took the time to open the drawer and snatch that little box he had for her.

"It's not much, but it works fairly well," he said as he moved back to the kitchen to press out the grounds, leaving a rich dark looking liquid in the glass container. He got two cups, and put them out, and went to the fridge for his cream. The sugar was just there.

"How do you take your coffee, Ana?"

She quirked an eyebrow, turning to face him from the other side of the counter. "Last I heard, they were still doing better than the Canons." she said teasingly. The Cannons were just awful, but she had come to notice that the fans they did have were die hard. She had no idea how they still manged to have fans, but apparently they did. Good for them, but Ana wasn't a fan. She wasn't a huge fan of Quidditch. Watching it was always fun, she had always attended the games during school, but she never really got into heated debates over teams.

She let him lead her to the bedrooms without another word. She watched him move back to the kitchen as she explored the rooms. They were decent sized, not bad at all. She didn't really want to give up her own flat, but it was too small for both of them. Curse the ministry laws. The bathrooms were nice. The one bedrooms that was obviously Ron's she couldn't look at for long. She could feel butterflys starting to rise and flutter about in her stomach at the very thought of having to share a room with him so soon. It was too soon. So she didn't think of it.

Coming back out into the kitchen, she leaned against the counter, watching him. "It's nice. Bigger than I expected." she said with a nod. From the look of the flat below, it didn't look like it could be that big. That was magic for you, though.

"Just a little cream, and a whole lot of sugar." thankfully he didn't have milk. For whatever reason, she really hated the stuff. It didn't make her sick, she just didn't care for the taste, cream was better in her opinion.

She was actually how surprised how quickly the night had flown by. Ana had been to America plenty of times on family vacations, and a few concerts there. It was always fun. She had fully expected the whole thing to be extremely awkward, but it really hadn't been that bad at all. Now she just had the day to get through before she could snuggle under her blankets and pass out for a long time. She was probably going to crash and burn tonight. Ana loved to sleep, and something told her tonight was going to be a good one. Potions could only keep you awake and going for so long before you needed to crash big time.

Ron had grinned at her as she had lingered in the bedrooms, thinking about her comments on the Cannons. Yes, they were having a bummer year, like always, but hope springs eternal, he thought cheerfully. She came out, and seemed please, which made him nod.

He poured out the coffee, and smiled, and made their coffees to match, thinking, What are the chances we like our coffee exactly the same? He slid the cup over to her, "Careful. It might be hot. I never seem to put in enough cream to cool it off completely." He picked up his cup and said, "Follow me," and led her through a door.

Once they were outside he headed to his left and climbed a flight of stairs. He moved out onto the roof,

and took a seat on the of the lounging chairs. The sky was beginning to brighten considerably.

He watched her, "So, you like it?"
