Who: Harry, Hermione and Ron

What: Together...because we're due for a Trio thread.

Harry was slowly starting to go stark raving mad. He wasn't used to silence. Even at the Dursley's there had been some form of interaction....even if it contained physical or verbal abuse. At least there was another person around. He was starting to spend greater amounts of time at Work simply to avoid spending more time in the strangely quiet house. He swore some nights not even the animals made a noise. He hated it. Thankfully, the two weeks mark was coming up and he couldn't wait to not be the only living person in the house. There was still the dog and the owl, but neither one of them really made all that much noise or spoke, which left him quite on his own.

During this quietness, he'd come to the realization that Ron, Hermione, and himself had not been in the same room together in ages, which really needed to be fixed. The problem with that though, was they each had their own lives. Different careers, different schedules, different lives. Hell, they were all either married or in the process of getting married and Harry knew exactly how far ones mind could stray during times like that. Thankfully, there was one place he knew he could catch the both of them with a little work.

As noon approached, Harry started his search, first hunting down Ron. Being in the same department made it a lot easier to find him. Harry personally wished they worked on more cases together, but he was glad to at least be in the same vacinity most of the time. Finally spotting him on the busy floor, Harry headed in that direction. Afterward, the two of them could go and pry Hermione away from her work.

"Ron!"

Ron was pouring over his papers, trying to stay focused so he could get his work completed. He had to check for errors, and sometimes, he had to go over things more than once. His mind would wander and he would miss the most obvious of mistakes. He sighed and rubbed his head for a moment, leaning back to think about life.

Hermione was always the one who could see the mistakes, with a kind of radar. He sometimes imagined he was she, so that he could get in the correct mind set. He could hear her voice echo in his head, as she had been when they are in school, and it helped him catch more mistakes.

He hated this part of job, the paperwork, and he decided he'd done as much as he could. He let his mind turn to his friends. It had seemed like weeks ago when he had last seen Hermione; but he had decided to try not to see her until he had spent more time with Ana. He struggled with himself, but the date with Ana was rapidly approaching, and he felt like he hadn't given it enough of an effort to get to know her better. He also wondered about Harry.

Harry seemed more than satisfied with his match, Ron thought with heartening encouragement. So there was hope; at the very least, Ron thought that he could be better friends with Ana. He certainly wasn't going to make her act the wife, if she wasn't into it, but it would be nice to have a union that WAS a union. Harry seemed to have pulled it off, rather well.

He didn't know if it was because he was thinking of his friend, but he could swear he heard Harry's voice for a moment. He swung his head in the direction of the voice, and there Harry materialized, as if on cue.

"Hey! Nice to see you, stranger!" Ron stood up and went to grab his robes, "Are you here to rescue me from my doom? I so need a break. My mind is spinning, and I'm turning out utter crap."

Harry couldn't help the grin that tugged at the corner of his lips. It had been such a long time since he'd had a moment to spend with his friends. It was no one's fault but his own, and it was certainly a fault he hoped would not be repeated a second time. While his knew relationship with Daphne demanded and controlled his heart, his loyalty would always belong to his friends.

"Crap? I would assume then, that it's a right side better then what you normally put out?" he responded, with what one would assume as a cheeky grin. In a sense the two of them tended to be far less serious when they were together. Their actions on occasion resembling that of school children, but he merely assumed they were simply making up for lost time and experiences. It wasn't just himself that had far more dangerous things then horsing around on his mind during his years at school. There were always two profiles standing with him, sharing in the experience. Ron and Hermione deserved a chance to relax just as much, if not more, then he did. After all, if not them, who else would have put up with his stubborn ways? He was likely to guess that there would be no such person ever found.

"Stranger. Everyone is a stranger, lately. I feel like I have been absent from everything the last little while." his response being followed by a slight frown and a small shrug. "I suppose attempting to occupy an empty house while Daphne's away has rattled me a bit." Here he paused, offering an amused chuckle. "Merlin forbid, I enjoy a little peace and quiet. One would think I'm not happy unless I'm shoulder deep in some sort of trouble."

It was a true enough statement, if he took the time to think about it. The only time he wasn't worried was when he was too busy to be worried. Not exactly a productive way of going about things, but it worked most of the time. "Which, I suppose is why I've sought you out. Care to find some trouble?"

"I put out decent work, actually, if you have to know. It's how I got this job. Bloody boring, but I seem to find almost all of the mistakes the others make in their paperwork. Merlin, help me."

Ron was pleased to laugh about this with Harry. He grinned more, "I think it's called being a newly wed, Harry, if I'm not mistaken. I expect you have to put in a decent amount of time, getting to know the new squeeze of your life. So how is wedded bliss? Please tell me you're going to make it to mine? I am pretty sure it will be August 9th, an evening ceremony in a park in Muggle London, so that her friends and family are welcome to come. It might be tricky having it at the Burrow, and I don't want her to feel like we are making it too exclusive, magic folk only."

Ron looked at Harry, "Stand up with me? You have to!"

Ron moved to follow Harry out the door, "Led the way to trouble, my good friend."

"Well," he grinned teasingly as he took a step in the direction of the lift, knowing that Ron was right behind him, "Well, I'm quite glad they based their opinion on your skills with the paperwork and not your skills with a wand. I rather enjoy having you close at hand."

At the very mention of marriage Harry was conflicted. Marriage. The Ministry. Daphne. He felt bad being so happy in his own marriage when he knew others were not feeling the same sort of marital bliss as he was. Not all of the pairs had been so lucky. He was conflicted because for once, he really didn't know where to stand. What the Ministry was doing was completely insane and yet he was happy because of it. Daphne was a Slytherin. He was a Gryffindor. The rivalry between the two houses ran deep and had they not been forced together, they would never have reached the point they had.

"I wouldn't exactly call it wedded bliss at the moment, what with Daphne being in France at the moment, but you can count on me being there, naturally." Harry responded, raising an amused eyebrow. "I can't very well let you walk head first into this without a little bit of support."

For his own part, he was more then a little worried about the outcomes of Ron and Hermione's own marriages. There had always been a bit of a spark between his two best friends and he wasn't sure how all of this would be affecting them. He couldn't base their perspectives on his own. They were not him. "How are you fairing, Ron, in all seriousness?"

Ron followed Harry onto the lift, and nodded, "Good. I don't think it would be the same if I didn't have at least one of my friends there. Hermione's not coming. We decided it would be too strange."

Ron looked at Harry, wondering if he knew just how close he and the girl were. Ron thought Harry would suspect, but he wasn't sure if he realized how in love they were, and how close he'd been to asking her to marry him before all of this mess happened. Ron put his arm around Harry's shoulder, in a slightly comforting gesture, "I'm holding up," he said trying to keep up a chipper tone, "I've met her. She's pretty cute. Interesting. A bit different, but I like her. I think we can make a go of it. We have to, don't we? I'm just crap at getting to know women, is all."

He waited until the lift was empty to go on, "I was going to ask Hermione to marry me, Harry. But I waited too long. It's the worst but she went through with it, and I will to. We'll manage, somehow. We will," and he looked at Harry in the eye, knowing he'd never be able to tell Harry what he and Hermione had done. He wouldn't do that to his friend, put him in the middle of their secret.

Ron was right in suspecting that Harry had his own sucpicions about what was between his two best friends, but they were tame in comparison to the truth. He had not been aware that Ron had intended to ask Hermione to marry him. For some reason, he simply hadn't put two and two together, which he supposed wasn't really that surprising. He often had trouble with that.

When Ron admitted how far he had come in regards to Hermione, Harry's eyebrow raised, but his shoulders slumped just slightly. So he was in love with Hermione, but marrying Ana. That could prove to be more difficult then he was expecting. "Sorry to hear that, mate." he responded, it being the only thing he could really offer. He wasn't the one with the good advice. That had always been Hermione and he didn't think it would help coming from that direction this time.

"What are we going to tell your Mother?" he asked, a sudden thought coming to him and a certan article popping into his head. Mrs. Weasley hadn't taken it lightly when she thought Hermione had hurt him, he didn't want to think what would happen if she thought Hermione had hurt her actual son. "I mean, in regards to Hermione not being at the wedding? For the most part, we're always together. I'm sure she'll think it a bit suspicious."

Ron let his arm slip off of Harry, as he nodded, "Yeah, well, there's not much to be done about it now. Hermione married Stephen, and I didn't get a chance to ask her and that's that," and Ron looked away from his friend. He wasn't very good at hiding the fact that he was not nearly as upset about it as he had been a few weeks ago. He and Hermione had successfully patched that breach, and Ron felt more at ease and confident when he thought about the women.

"Well, I've talked to Mum; I went over to the Burrow for the day. We talked. She doesn't blame Hermione at all. She blames me," and Ron grinned at Harry, "What do you expect? Mum knows I'm the dawdler. She still thinks highly of Hermione, and she actually suggested she not come. I had to tell her Hermione was in the same mindset, so that's settled. George is working on some decorations that look Muggle but that he can put up quickly, without any Muggles seeing. Ana's dad is a chef, so there is a bit of back and forth about the food. Food, again, just like at Bill and Fleur's wedding, but not near as bad. Ana's parents are nice. Quiet and polite. We all had dinner together. I don't know Harry," and at this point, Ron let himself be more honest with Harry, "I just am crap at getting to know girls. Give me a bloke, and we can hit it off right away. A girl? It's completely different, and especially one who doesn't seem too terribly keen about me. Sure, I can talk to girls, but get one to like me? That is a completely different story. I do like her," and Ron looked at Harry, "She's not hard to like, but I'm not sure I'm doing a good job being very romantic. I don't know how. Not really."

Ron followed Harry as the lift stopped, and they headed down the hall. He realized with a start, where they were heading but he said nothing. Any excuse to see her was a good one.

"Well, that's good I suppose," he responded, glad that there wouldn't be some rift created between Hermione and the Weasley's. He liked things just the way they were and he was loath to see them change too much. He knew they were slowly changing, what with all three of the being married, but he felt he could handle the gradual change. Even with the addition of Daphne, Ana, and Stephen, they were still best friends and that wouldn't change.

"I'd have to say that you're asking the wrong person," Harry responded, wryly. "I was the one who spilt pumpking juice all over myself in an attempt to smile at Cho. Not exactly the most romantic thing out there, is it." Turning his mind from Cho and focusing it on Daphne. He didn't know what happened with her that was so different then everyone else. He hadn't felt uncomfortable or nervous. It had just come naturally.

"Just....be you," he offered with a shrug. "Perhaps starting with romance is jumping the gun a bit. Build a friendship first, particularly if she's not exactly keen on being forced into marriage. That's what Daphne and I did."

"Well, thanks a bunch! Here, I lean on you in my time of need and you offer me......what? Nothing!"

Ron laughed and knew that Harry was so much like him, in many ways. He thought about their prior romantic efforts with girls and it made him smile more, "We've come a long way from school, I hope. You, drooling like a fiend, and me, smothered by a smooching Lavender. You know, I don't even know how that thing started," and Ron nudged Harry in the side, "And look at you know. Smitten by a Slytherin! I would have said it could never happen, but there it is. Love-sick pup! And you started as friends? Well, there is some hope for me, maybe."

Ron grinned at Harry, and went on, "Well, she is interested in music. I am not sure what kind, exactly. I was thinking about taking her to a concert. And maybe dancing? Hell, I don't know. Ginny's husband Wayne has a pub. I could take her there. These are things I would do with a friend, right?"

"I try, Ron." he responded with a laugh as they headed toward where they would find the third corner of their triangle. "Smitten in deed, though I suppose we really didn't start as friends, that was the second step. I do believe the first step went something along the lines of 'If you come within a hundred feet of me, I'll kill you,' so think of yourself as being a step ahead of the rest."

Harry listened to the options Ron listed, debating them both internally. "I think the concert might be a nice guesture...though you'd have to discover who she would want to see. As for the pub...that might not be the best idea...unless she enjoys that scene. I don't know. I'd probably work up to the concert, you know? Start with little things. Flowers, offering to cover dinner, things like that."

Harry was a little lost in their current conversation. He didn't know if his suggestions were helpful or not. In all honesty, he didn't understand women at all. Half the time, Daphne even confused him.

Ron looked surprised for a moment and then snorted, "Well, I do have a bit of head start, I guess. She was in Hufflepuff, so she's not throwing daggers or snakes at me, at least, not yet. I think the concert might be a good act of good faith. Dinner's a given. I've done flowers. I could do more."

After a pause, Ron went on, "She might like the pub. She seems kind of.....wild. She has pink hair and there is something of a rocker rebel to her, sort of, I think," and Ron thought about the way Ana was dressed, and how confident she was about things. She was a puzzle, and he sort of wanted to figure her out. He wondered, for a moment, what it would be like to kiss her and hold her tight in his arms. She had kissable lips, that was for sure. Ron blushed for a moment, his thoughts distracting him and then he felt conflicted; they were on their way to find Hermione, and here he was, daydreaming about kissing his soon to be wife. He tried to focus, and turned to Harry, wondering if his friend caught that.

"So, let's go hunt our third pal down. Are we dragging her off with us to eat?" and it was obvious that Ron was ready for the mid day meal as his stomach grumbled.

"Thankfully ice cream seems to work well against daggers and snakes," Harry chuckled, remembering their first semi ... kinda .... date. Ice cream at her place was rather interesting. He couldn't say he'd done that before, but he was now glad that he had. "Well, you could always try the Pub, I guess. I'm sure Wayne and Ginny wouldn't mind both the company and the business.

Harry continued along the way to Hermione's desk. His eyes were turned away from his companion so Ron's flush went unnoticed by him. He'd never really met Ron's wife-to-be and at the moment his thoughts were clearly caught on finding Hermione and escaping the busy Ministry.

"Of course we are. If we don't, she'd never eat." Harry responded, amused. Hermione really wasn't as bad as he made her out to be, but he liked to tease her about her work ethic, seeings as she had enough for all three of them.
