She ate what she could of the fish and chips, before giving up altogether and pushing the rest of it around on her plate. Her nerves were about shot and from the way her stomach was rolling another day, another time would have been better but she would have only been putting this meeting off.

Michael Corner. Her memories brought up nothing but Orla's recommendation meant a lot. It was still odd meeting a stranger knowing you were going to marry them. Maybe things will work out for the best.

Her eyes scanned the entrances, both from Diagon Alley and muggle London, not knowing which way he would enter or even what he looked like.

He shook her hand gladly and smiled. "Certainly." He said as he took the seat next to her. He got a long hard look at her and noted she looked a little bit young. "May I ask how old you are?" He asked politely. He hoped she would say that she was 21 like him she just looked young. He didn't want this girl to have to marry someone when she was only just out of Hogwart's or anything. Not that he had a choice in this. He sighed running his hand through his carefully messed up hair.

"So I guess were getting married." Michael said not being one to mince words. "It looks like I am lucky to be with such a lovely little girl." He winced worried that she actually was little. He knew that would make her want to do this much less. He gestured to the bar-tender to get him some firewhiskey for himself not really feeling all that hungry now.

Returning to her chair, she put the roses across from her, where they'd catch her eye as they talked. "I'm eighteen, nineteen in the winter. I'm just out of Hogwarts this June. And you?" Rose knew he was older than her but certainly not by much.

"I guess we are." Raising the glass of ale halfway to her lips, she paused mid-air, blinking at how he described her. "Are you referring to my physical attributes or my age?"

"I am 21 turned it in December actually." He said with a smile. He let a little groan escape thinking that she just got out of Hogwarts. She was probably just getting used to being alone and now she would have to marry. "I'm sorry." He whispered in his drink. He did mean that he was sorry. He hoped that she didn't hate him for this after all it wasn't his fault.

He stopped and looked at her unblinkily. "Didn't really mean either love. I was just trying..I mean to say that..All I meant was you are very pretty." He looked at her very uncomfortably not wanting to offend her right away and defintely not wanting to cause a big scene with all this. His voice got serious. "Look your probably thinking that you don't want to marry someone you hardly know. Neither do I quite frankly. However we have to so I hope that we both try are hardest to make this work." He stopped waiting for her to answer. He wanted to know how she felt before they went futher to discuss things.

So he was a bit older. Just as well, she thought. She wasn't sure she could contemplate marrying someone as young as she was. Rose's hand lightly covered Michael's for a moment. "Don't be sorry, we're in this together."

The stumble over his words brought a small smile to her face, not how he couldn't find the right ones, but that he called her pretty. "I'm pretty much thinking there's not a bloke I know that I'd want to marry, so I guess a stranger is just as good. I'm - " Rose hesitated for a moment, finding the right words. "I'm willing to try. I can't afford to pay the fines."

He looked at her and smiled. He was relieved that she had said that because there was no way he could do it alone. Having someone that wouldn't hate him would be a definite plus in his book. He really wanted to try to make this work even if he wasn't sure it was at all possible.

He chuckled. "Good way of looking at it. I feel the same truth be told. As long as it is a good person and you seem to be." He put her hand up to his lips and gently kissed it. He paused a few second before going on. "I have money for the fine but it is not something I would really like to pay for you know? Plus Mum would beat me." He added with a laugh although he couldn't help but think that she probaby would. "Anyway I girl like you doesn't deserve to go to Azkaban." He smiled warmly and clapped his hands together. "So what to discuss first?"

Rose paused when his kissed her hand, her breath catching in her throat as she stared boldly at Michael. "It seems like a waste to throw money at the Ministry if we both can agree to get along." At the mention of his mother, Rose thought of her own family. Her father would be livid if he knew of the Ministry's decree, but that would just be on top of the fact that he was displeased that she continued to stay in the Wizarding world.

Leaning back in her chair, Rose placed her hands in her lap, thinking about his question. "The wedding, and where to live? I doubt my parents would come to the wedding. My uncle might, but I don't need anything fancy. I'll leave that up to you. Where do you live?"

He looked at her and raised an eyebrow. I girl who seemed not to care about a wedding he rather liked that. "My whole slightly mad family will be there of coarse. They will be thrilled for me for some reason they think it's all I jolly good idea. I think it is because they don't have to go through with it. They got to pick who they married." He laughed nervously not certain if he had said something he shouldn't have. "But I would rather do what you want to with the wedding I wouldn't bother if I didn't know my parent's not to mention my sister would murder me if I didn't have a good and proper one." He stop to collect his breath.

He wanted to tread lightly with the answer to the next question. "To be honest a small flat by myself in the heart of London. However I think that it would be best to find a nice house to live in. So we could ermmm raise a family." He looked at her with a scared look hoping that she wouldn't freak out with the mention of a family. He did want childern and he wanted her to be clear on that point. "Where is it that you live then?"

"Maybe your mum or your sister would like to make some input? In fact, if they're excited about it, I'll go along with whatever they want. I don't want to cause any trouble with them." Rose smiled nervously, wondering what it would be like having a family so involved in her life. It would definitely take some getting used to. There was time for that.

Raise a family? The Ministry hadn't said anything about a family. What did you think, Rose? Children meant sex and affection and love... Suddenly this whole ordeal felt catastrophically overwhelming but she managed to keep her expression composed. "Michael..." She wanted to talk more about his ideas of family but her nerves prevented it. "I live in London, just south of the Thames."

"Maybe they would." He said knowing full well that they will be more then happy to help. "Actually not maybe they will. They will probably try to do most of it although they wouldn't care if you wanted to help." He shrugged yet again feeling like he was doing that quite a bit. It was just he was a little nervous. He looked at her and saw she as well looked nervous. "It will be ok my family will love you. Mum will adopt you as her own and my sister will feel like your the sister she always wanted but never got."

He noticed that she wanted to say something but wouldn't. He didn't want that so he would have to coax the girl. He took another sip of his drink and put his hand on her shoulder. "It's okay love you can tell me how you feel. I swear I won't bite or even shout at you." He smiled warmly at her and took his hand away. "Really I want to know everything I can about you if I get married to you." He went back to his drink waiting for an answer.

"That, that would be nice. My family is mostly muggle, my dad and brothers. Only my mum and I have magic. It wasn't something that I was allowed to use much at home. It will be nice to be around family that understands that side of me."

Michael's hand on her shoulder felt comforting and when he pulled it away, she reached out, curling her fingers into his. "So, this is going to be real? Sharing a bed, being lovers too?" Rose worried her bottom lip between her teeth. "I just ask because I hear a lot of couples are keeping separate rooms and their lovers on the side. Some are being faithful, but I know nothing about you. I had to ask."

"My family will know doubt love you perhaps more then me." He joked which for him meant he was getting more comfortable with her. "I warn you now they might seem a little overbearing to you at first. They have been know to do that to people." He refrained from mentioning that the people they were overbearing to mostly consisted of girlfriends. He thought that would be in bad taste.

He smiled liking the feeling of her soft hands in his. He actually liked her he thought to himself with a smile. Perhaps it would be ok after all. He nodded although he looked a little offeded at first he understood her worry. "Yes it will be real. All of it. I won't be having anyone on the side...ever." He said seriously. "You will be the only one and we will share a room only if you would like." He said and to insure her it was all true he bent down and kissed her very lightly on the lips. He looked at her nervously hoping that was alright he just wanted to make sure he meant everything he said.

"Everything about this has nearly swept me off my feet. I'm sure I'll be fine if you're with me. I like meeting new people." They would be more than that soon.

The kiss took Rose completely by surprise. It was soft and gentle was just enough to make her curious for more. She leaned forward, returning it, smiling against his lips. "Yes. I want that. All of it." First impressions were everything and she could be realistic enough to know that she knew very little about Michael Corner, but what she knew, she liked. There were definite possibilities with this wizard. "We could keep your flat until we get pregnant. At least we'd both still be in the city."

He smiled noting she was pretty good at kissing. He decided that he would stop at least for now because in all reality he didn't know the girl that well yet and usually he waited tell at least the third date to kiss although he didn't usually marry someone he hardly knew either. His eyes brightened when she mentioned getting pregnant. He had always wanted a nice family just like his. One that will be very loving. Although he still wasn't sure if that could happen yet. However every minute he spent with her convinced him that it could. "Alright that's fine with me. I do like the flat although it is small to be honest. But two can live there comfortably."

He leaned back a little and moved over ever so softly to be near her. "So what is it uoi do?" He questioned. "I myself make potions for St. Mungo's so you shan't worry about getting hurt with me around." That reminded him of his little problem. "I usually stay up through the night making them I unfortunatly have a hard time getting to sleep most of the time. "Don't worry I will try to be quiet at night but just thought you should know. It will be good when we have are childern though since I can always let you sleep while I take care of it." He smiled at the thought of taking care of a little one.

Rose smiled, thinking they'd passed their first hurdle. Two, actually. Their first kiss and where they would live, for now. It seemed like some things were coming together since she'd received her owl from the Ministry. "Brilliant." The next question she had was when.

"I'm a marketing assistant for Fleetwood's Quidditch products. I spend a lot of time at the pitch or in shops, fixing displays. I really like my job." The idea that he made potions intrigued her and she had to guess that was where his Ravenclaw mind came into play. Rose felt an unnerving concern for Michael's health and well-being. "When do you sleep then?"

He nodded. "That sounds like great fun. I love to watch Quidditch though I am rubbish at the actually sport itself." He smiled. When she asked when he slept he laughed. "I usually get a few hours a night and if it get's really desperate I have a potion that I always have made for when I need it. It knocks me out instantly. Brilliant isn't it?" He looked quite proud of himself thinking he was taking great care of himself. "No need to worry about me if I can function then I am fine." He said happily.

He looked around at the other people in the pub. "You know we look like a couple right now. In fact I suppose that we are a couple." He said enjoying that word. He always liked being in a relationship even if this one was all mixed up and backwords. He leaned in close and whispered in her ear. "I think I like you. I think this will work."

"We'll get to see as my matches as you want. One of the perks is tickets for all the teams." Rose's brows knit together, not liking the sound of her future husband running on potion and adrenaline. "No need to worry? As your wife I'm supposed to." She smiled impishly and winked. "And how will we make those children if I'm in bed and you are not?"

It was startling that in a few hours time, her world had completely changed. She knew it was coming but it was here now and to be reckoned with. Michael's warm breath bounced against the shell of her ear and she shivered, feeling a longing seep through her body. Tilting her head toward him, she nodded. "It will. How soon do you want to marry, Michael?"

"That will be very nice. I could never say no to free tickets. He looked at her sheepishly. "I can't help it. I try to sleep and find myself thinking of what I need to do and I am afraid I am not too patient so I have to do it right away. So I get up and then do it." He paused for a second. "If I don't I sit in bed and think of it so I can't sleep. Although truth be told I might not be so keen to do things at night as much anymore. Not things out of bed." He winked at her and continued. "Don't worry with such a beautiful wife in bed with me I won't be able to leave bed easily."

He looked very thoughtful. It was a good question and he wasn't sure. The way he was feeling he wanted to go get married right this moment so he could take her home with him. However he thought that perhaps that wasn't to realistic. "As soon as possible I think. If I wasn't afraid of my parents I would say right now. However Mum can be mean when she is mad." He said jokingly.

Heat colored her cheeks at his compliment. "I understand. I won't bother you if you have something pressing. Your work must mean a lot to you."

Rose waited for his answer, with no idea what to expect. Things were going well but she wasn't sure of their deadline either. She stared at Michael, her mouth making a tiny O. "Right now?" Her heat pounded in her chest and realized the butterflies in her stomach were from excitement. "I don't want to start off on a bad foot with your mum. I suppose we can wait a couple of days." She teased him with a tiny smile. "Maybe this week end or next? If that isn't too soon."

"It is demanding but I love it." He smiled at her happy to see her cheeks redden from what he said. "No I can work in the daytime too. I need to try to sleep more anyway." He smiled trying to humor her.

He laughed. "It would be hard for you to get on her bad side no worries. I swear she will probably forget about me when she meets you." He joked. He looked at her wanting to take her as his wife right now. He wasn't one to take forever falling in love it was very easy actually with the right kind of person and she was it. He just hoped that he wouldn't get his heart broken this time round. "Well this weekend is free for me and I don't think the minstry really cares what we do as long as we get married. Although it doesn't give us much time. I still need to get you a ring you know."

"You're hardly unforgettable, Michael." Rose lightly bumped him with her shoulder, letting his name roll off her tongue sounding more like an endearment. "I'll owl your mum tomorrow if you don't mind. Just to introduce myself and see what we can work on to make this happen."

A list of a thousand things went through her mind. "I need to find a dress and pack up my flat." Looking down at her bare finger, she shook her head. "I don't need anything special. A band will do. I'm really not that fussy of a witch. I like things simple."

"No need to lie love." He said liking the word love more then ever. He was falling for her already as was typical of him. He nodded. "She will love that and will love the challege of only a few days. You won't have to do a lot if you don't want to she will do everything you allow her to do. Well her and Elisabeth my sister. "Do you have any siblings?" He didn't remember he saying she did but he could have not been listening.

He thought for a moment. "I can help pack up the flat and perhaps I can enlist one of my mates to help to. Mum will help with a dress. Her frowned at her. "Are you sure such a pretty girl deserves pretty jewerly and I have so much cash I need to piss away. It is so hard to be me." He joked. "Oh by the way I realize that traditionally the brides family pays the expenses for the wedding but Mum and Dad would be honered in you allowed them too. Like I said they are a little off."

Rose wondered what it would be like having a sister. "Three brothers. I'm not close to them. My father didn't approve of magic, so obviously I wasn't his favorite." She shrugged, knowing there was nothing that would change that. She'd accepted it a long time ago.

"My flat is just a little studio. I've not even been there over a month so it shouldn't be bad. Can I see your place soon? So I can decide what to keep and what to get rid of." She still felt odd about the ring. Rose had never had anything ostentatious. "I appreciate that. I have nothing saved up, I've only had this job for a few weeks." She felt like a beggar but would do her best to make it up to him as his wife.

"I just have the sister. We are very close and she is married has a son too." He said proudly. "I am close to my whole family still. Mum the most because Dad is working a lot. He does mean well though." He added.

"You can see my place whenever you would like it is always opened." He was was glad she agreed with what he had said because she seemed a little proud to him. Not a bad thing certainly but Michael loved to help and he wanted to spoil her rotten if she allowed it of coarse. He noticed that she didn't seem to keen on the ring. "If it makes you too uncomfortable I won't buy a ring for you Rose." He frowned a little but he supposed that marriage was about compromise and he would be married soon.

"So I'll be an auntie too?" She grinned, this wasn't going to be so bad. "I'm sure I'll love them."

Rose shook her head, stopping him. "No, that was rude of me. I will gladly wear whatever you give me. I just didn't want you to go to a lot of trouble." Rose felt out of her depth making these decisions, but with time, when she got more comfortable with him, things would be better. At his frown, she raised her hand, letting her finger nudge at the corner of his mouth. She smiled. "I think I'd agree to anything to keep you from giving me that look."

"Yes you will and he is very cute. He just recently turned one." He liked that she would be his aunt. Although it was weird to think of it.

He brightened up. "No it's fine actually very nice of you but it won't be any trouble I insure you. He smirked. "Anything huh? I will have to remember that." When she touched the corner of his mouth he felt a longing for her. It was an odd feeling because he didn't really know her that well but something about her made him happy. Perhaps the Ministry had some way of telling who they should match a certain person with? No that couldn't be right because then so many people wouldn't be so outraged. Unless it was they didn't try.
