Who: Palmer Montague and Saoirse Fawcett
When: Friday, after the ball (backdated)
What: their escape and a quiet talk
Where: leaving the Ministry and Palmer's flat
Rating: PG-13
Status: Closed/Complete

From the corner of his eye, he knew what the green glow meant. It meant death, and destruction, and chaos. It meant a few years of complacency now being tallied up like a debt.

"To the doors now, Saoirse." His hands still cupping her cheeks held her still until she met his eyes. "Trust me, do exactly as I say." Montague knew her nature. He loved her nature to not be pushed about, but tonight wasn't one of those nights he could indulge it.

Just seconds before Potter was barking at the Aurors to close the doors, he slipped out of the ballroom with S in tow, wanting to get them as close to an apparating point as they could. Fear and adrenaline were the only things driving him.

Saoirse bit her lip, smiled. She was actually glad he didn't say it. She knew he loved her. If he had said it, it would have felt like she made him do so. The way he kissed her, the way he held her close. That was enough for her to know that even without the words, he loved her.
