Entry tags:merlin stebbins, parvati patil

Who: Parvati Patil and Merlin Stebbins
When: Wednesday Afternoon
Where: Diagon Alley
What: Window Shopping and maybe checking out some competition
Rating: E!
Status: Closed/In Progress

The last thing Parvati had expected to return to was a mess in her store. Dulce Fleur was not really messy, so much as the customer satisfaction was down. The workers had been not paying as much attention to the customers, instead focusing solely on the dresses. So it wasn't a surprise Parvati had heard a woman and her friend speaking of the boutique in Diagon Alley. That was bad.

After giving stern directions to the working manager, Parvati went to look at the competition. Of course, that wasn't until she had finished doing some shopping. With Mikael's credit line she had managed to acquire some new shoes and a gorgeous pair of earrings. At the moment she was window shopping through Diagon, humming happily.

"Are you always such a spaz?" She laughed and moved out of the way of a couple witches heading in the shop. The concept of being lazy was an odd one. It wasn't that she took forever dressing, but that she just knew what she wanted to wear. She knew herself well enough to know what to wear on what days. Sometimes she looked lazy though. She really had judged him wrongly.

"Oh, I did my own 'dress'. Made my husband's sherwani as well. Of course, if he knew that he probably would not have made it. I was serious, you know. Have you ever made anything outside of a traditional western type dress?"

A pink tint flooded his cheeks and Merlin took to scuffing his right shoe against the cobblestone street. "Nah," he shrugged. "Only sometimes." He was just incredibly happy and loved sharing his ideas. If that made him a spaz, well so be it, he was called worse.

"That's brilliant! You design!" He was obviously thrilled, but she could've said she was an ice cream enthusiast and he'd have been just as thrilled. That smile didn't fade, it merely widened. "I've made untraditional western dresses. Does that count as different? Want to see??!"

"Really? I think I would like to see those. Do you find them more or less popular than the traditional dresses?" It was nice to talk to another designer. Even if he was a spaz. Badly dressed. Sort of weird.

Okay, she was just desperate for company. Especially since he was another designer. "I do have to warn you though. I suppose I may be competition. I own Dulce Fleur a few blocks down. Though I cater to witches and muggles. Most of my own stuff is pretty nontraditional. I like working with foreign dresses the most."

"Not as popular, but even the traditional brides dig 'em. They may not ever buy one but they appreciate." He appreciated, anyways, and was eager to share his off the wall dresses with someone who might appreciate as well. Merlin practically lunged at the glass front door of his shop and yanked it open for the girl.

He gasped. "Oh HELGA. THAT'S RAD. Now I finally can place a face to the designer I keep referring people to! Rad! I've got a few witches who really like your style, so I hope you don't mind me sending them down to your store. Brilliant!" He stepped in after her and raised his arms in the air. "Ladies! Ladies!" All of his busy little bee witch workers lifted their heads, as did a few of the brides to be.

"This is a very rad visitor, she owns Dulce Fleur.. Miss... whoa. What's your name, again?"

Oh Shiva. Parvati had a feeling this was going to be one heck of an odd friendship. He was such a spazz. "Parvati Patil. It's a pleasure." She was blushing and made a mental note to kick Merlin later.

"And as much as I would love to stay, you did promise to show off a couple designs to me. Maybe I'll even start referring people to you. For traditional dresses, that is." Maybe. It would certainly help with her workload if she turned a couple people away and over here. Parvati was trying to figure out whether or not to believe he had actually referred people to her.

"Ah, Miss Parvati. Rad." He was going to point out all his hard worker bees but Parvati made an excellent point. "I did! Rad.. man.. they're over here." Really, just a glance in the general direction he was gesturing toward was all anyone needed. The colors of the dresses jumped out at people with no trouble at all.

"This one, ooh, this one.." he hopped over to a dress that was incredibly red. "A vampire wanted this one. I think. She looked like a vampire, anyways. I don't know. But she wanted all red a corset. She let me run away with everything else I did.. ooh and this one!" He turned on his heel and patted down a charteuse dress that didn't look a thing like a wedding dress at all.

"This one was for an artist. She wanted lots of color and something different and easy to wear, so we went with a shorter look... these are just copies of the originals. I transfigured other dresses to show them to my more creative clients. Aren't they rad?"

"Definitely... rad." Parvati giggled, testing the word out. The artist dress was nice enough, but she much preferred the corset look. It really was beautiful. She traced the fabric with her hand and smiled. "It's really very nice. Any other wonders you want to show off?"

No wonder the customers loved him. He was like a hyperactive puppy. Impossible not to like, really. The shop was still competition, but she knew they both offered different things. "I have to admit I've never had a vampire customer. A werewolf once, but never a vampire. Was she awfully fussy?"

"I'm still working on some things.. so, nothing worth showin' yet... was she fussy? Oh man.." Did he have stories! He wasn't the type of guy to diss just anyone, though. In fact, he hardly ever spoke bad about anyone, even if they deserved it. Still, he couldn't help but mention how horrible she had been.

"She was like, such a bridezilla. I nearly told her to make her own dang dress and she was all 'Vell, if you von't help me I von't be paying you vor any of yur ser-vee-siz!' and sometimes she looked hungry I NEVER worked with her alone, I didn't want her to bite me! That'd suck... HAHA. Wow! Literally! How'd the werewolf thing go?"

"Oh no!" Parvati laughed, imagining a vampire bride-zilla. "I pity whoever was marrying her. Do you know if it was another vampire or what?" She hoped it wasn't some poor sap who had actually fallen for her. That would have been one heck of a wedding night.

"The werewolf was so temperamental. She always had to be the sole focus of my day when she came in. Not to mention when she didn't like a pattern she couldn't just say so she actually tore the pattern up. Unfortunately, most of it was close to the full moon otherwise she would not have been so... well... bitchy."

"Oh man, that sounds brutal! I can't be-" Merlin found his arm being tugged rather violently by a small, plump witch with a pleasant smile. "What's up, Miss L?"

"We've got a bit of a situation, dearest." She nodded her head to the entrance and he found himself staring at a trio of witches looking terribly excited about being in the shop. He sighed but smiled despite feeling so tired all of a sudden. "Looks like my afternoon just got booked. Bother... I'll be right there Miss L."

"Sorry, lovey. Looks like I've got to get back to work. Gosh, it sure was rad to meet you, though! I'll have to come by your store when I get time to breathe!"

Parvati smiled, understanding perfectly. "Have fun, Merlin. Don't feel obligated to stop by. My store if a bit of a mess right now anyways." Actually, speaking of that mess she needed to get back to work.

Navigating her way out, Parvati started thinking of new ways to improve her business. First would be to tell off all the slackers in her store though. She simply had too much to do.
