Who: Millicent Bulstrode and Seamus Finnigan
What: Millicent tries to find a dress
When: Today, around mid afternoon.
Where: shopping in London
Rating: PG-13 for swearing cause it's Millicent.
Status: Closed.

The weather almost seemed to be reflecting Millicent's mood -- miserable and gloomy as a storm front moved through London. She ended up promising herself she'd go out and find something to wear to the ball, even though she didn't want to go and make even the attempt. It was either she found a dress or she was sure her mum would find something. She locked up the cauldron shop behind her as she left, heading out and into the bustling streets.

To say she had no idea where to begin was an understatement. All she had to go by for dresses is a vague idea what size she'd be by now and a list of shops her sister owled to her. To be honest, Millicent was still struggling to see the point in even attempting to go. The thought that she'd be accompanied by Adrian was enough to sour her expression again. 'Well, I don't have to go with him actually,' she thought as she passed people by on the street, 'He can go piss off and find someone to bother while I raid the fuckin bar.'

Millicent stopped awkwardly in front of one of the shops, staring down at the paper then up at the mannequins in the window in bright feminine garb. She took a breath, not even noticing how extremely awkward it was to be standing randomly still midst a sidewalk outside a shop. All she had to do was go in and try to find a dress, right? Not hard at all. Midst her psyching herself up, she turned to head to the glass doors and ran smack dab into someone,

"Shit!"

"Loony Lovegood. Yep, that's the wifey. She's a different kind of woman there. I'm still getting used to it, but if she can deal with me then who am I to complain?" He noticed Millicent looked a little uncomfortable so he decided it was best to help. "One mo', love. Be back in a sec."

"Excuse me, can you hold onto this while I help my friend?" Seamus left the dress with the cashier and waved Millicent over to a dress rack. "I take it you're not the risque type then, eh?"

Millicent relaxed a little when she realized he'd actually help her. So far he hasn't even started after her, which is possibly the best thing she could have right now while she was looking to try to make herself seem kind of attractive. She walked over to where Seamus was and honestly, "I don't really know. I mean.." she paused as she thought of it and laughed a bit, "maybe not totally a risque type. But..I'd just wanna look nice enough that I could shut Pucey up from calling me a cow so damn much."

She touched one of the dresses on the rack, looking over all the different ones. There were so many to look at and she looked over at Seamus, "So really..um. I like red. For colors, you know, besides black and white. And blues too."

Seamus smiled at her, walking around her like a hawk circling it's prey. He would have to kick himself later for fulfilling any type of gay stereotype. Normally he'd leave that to Kris. "Red will definitely work on you. Actually, I know just what dress may work for you. I was looking at it earlier. Wish Luna could fit in it but I swear she won't get any more meat on those bones. Trust me, I've been trying." He gave her a wink as he went through the dresses.

Finally he found one which looked like it was made for her. "What do you think?"

Millicent took the dress from Seamus, holding it up and giving it a look over. It was vivid and bold, a little much for what she thought she'd end up getting, but what the hell? Maybe she'd look good in it.

"It's really...wow. Fuck.." She trailed off and turned to Seamus, "if I try it on, you'd be totally fuckin honest with me if it looks good?"

"Trust me love, I will definitely be honest with you. Now go try it on while I figure out what we can do about that hair." He did have a few friends who worked at salons, but after his last fight with Kris... Seamus felt it best to stay away from certain old friends. Maybe the dress would be good enough without a fancy hairdo.

Millicent felt ridiculously nervous for just trying on a dress, but he was mostly a stranger and he did promise to be honest. It was a few minutes later that Millicent stepped out in the red dress, smoothing the fabric down of the front.

"Well?" she questioned Seamus, tucking her hair nervously behind her ears as she grins a bit, "It's not too bad, huh?"

"Not too bad? You'll have Pucey on the floor in minutes with that." Seamus laughed, earning a few looks from the staff. Sod them. They were helpful enough, but he was having fun. "You look gorgeous love." He really couldn't see why she was so down on herself. A little bit of curves and meat never hurt anybody.

"I think long hair in a wave would be good for that. Stick with some lipstick the same shade too. Maybe red or black nail polish to add an edge to it."

Millicent wrinkles her nose a little, like she really needed Pucey to start wanting to bed her. She turned to look at herself in the mirror and nodded a bit confidently, "Mum keeps some of those hair potions at home. I can use the long hair for the night."

She grins at Seamus in the mirror, "Thanks. Um. For this. Probably would be still starin at the racks like I was braindead if you didn't help."

"No problem at all, love. Just glad I can help. Now to get that damned dress back to Luna. Woman's been working all week." He smiled, shaking his head.

"Save a dance for me at the ball, aye? We'll show those gits to stop harassing you." He was at the cashier, receiving the bag with Luna's dress. Hopefully she'd like it.

Millicent gave a brief wave, "See you at the ball, mate." before he left. She changed back in to her clothes, just being unable to help herself in how damn smug she felt to find something she looked good in. At least, now, she had one dress down and all she had to do next was find a wedding gown. But that'd be for another day, right now she was just glad to have accomplished something.

She was soon out the door with the newly purchased dress, grinning a bit to herself as Millicent headed on home.
