Who: Tracey Davis and Daniel Summerby
When: Tuesday 8 p.m.
Where: The Mobile
What: Trace and Dan go dancing.
Rating: E, I s'pose
Status: Closed/In Progress

The world seemed to be falling apart and the people in it were going mad, but at the moment Tracey could barely care less. Another date with Daniel. Even if they weren't called dates, that was most certainly what it was. He may be married and content with his wife, but Tracey felt a sick satisfaction in knowing he was infatuated with her. After hurrying home from work, Tracey picked out an appropriate outfit. Actually it could probably be considered tame.

Somehow Tracey ended up at the club early. The doorman already knew her by name so she left a note to notify her as soon as Daniel arrived. For the moment she was enjoying dancing with some of the other guys the club had to offer.

If Tracey had any idea of what Daniel was thinking she probably would have cringed away. As it was she convinced herself this was all a game. He was the same as any other bloke who caught her interest. Tracey leaned in to whisper in Daniel's ear, "I know you're married, but I want you." The words to come off her lips had almost been I like you but she had managed to keep those back. Tracey hoped she wouldn't scare him away.

Daniel stood there for a moment completely floored. Sure she'd been flirty and kissing him, but she flat out said she wanted him. He'd never had a girl be that forward with him and he didn't really know how to reply without her thinking he was a complete tool. He licked his lips and looked down at her. "Tracey, I...I like you. I want you, too." He blushed then, before he finished. "But I want it to mean something." She was going to think he was lame, but he couldn't help how he felt about that. He'd never really been one for just a casual thing.

Well that was a new one. She wasn't sure how to take something like that. What was worse was she kept thinking about how cute he was when he smiled. "Mean something? Like what?" She knew he liked her. She knew he wanted her. So what else did he want? He obviously had some kind of affection for his wife. That had to be it.

She found she was actually slightly hurt at being denied. What?! Tracey took a step back, needing some room to clear her mind. "You have your wife to mean something with."

Damn it. He was so not good at this. "Look, I don't just--," he began and winced at her last comment. Daniel put down his beer. He stuffed one hand in his pocket and ran the other through his hair as he tried to collect his thoughts. He really wished they weren't having this conversation in the middle of a crowded bar. "I'm sorry if this isn't what you want to hear. I can't...I don't just go picking up people to sleep with. I don't work that way. I know I'm married and yes, I like my wife. She's a sweet girl. But I really like you, Tracey. I don't want just some one off thing with you. If that makes me an asshole than fine." Having said his peace he picked up his beer and took a long drink, looked away from her.

Part of Tracey wanted to just stomp off angrily. She hated being denied. Any other man would have had her. Tracey pressed her lips together and leaned against the counter, giving one of the men staring their way a dirty look.

"This would be a lot easier if you were an asshole you know." She muttered just loud enough for Daniel to hear. She turned around and looked at Daniel, the anger gone from her face with only confusion left. "I don't know what you want from me. I'm not that type of woman, Daniel."

Daniel just sighed, a little upset himself. He shook his head at her muttering and took another drink. When she looked up at him again, he had to bite his tongue. He rubbed at his forehead, part of him wanting to give in, just to make her happy. Thing is, he wouldn't be happy just having her that way. He answered her, moving closer, his voice low enough for only her to hear. "Well I thought you were, Trace. You certainly deserve more than just a fling with some jerk who doesn't care about you. I want you, but," he sighed and caressed her cheek. "I want to be around you for more than that. I want to make you smile, make you laugh. I'm sorry if that's too much."

Oh no. Tracey had to control her breathing, closing her eyes and enjoying the feeling of his touch. She could play this game longer. It was just a game. He would end up like all of the others. It would just last longer than she thought.

"Okay." Tracey opened her eyes and placed her hand on his. "I'm sorry. It's not too much. It's just not what I'm used to." She picked up her drink and finished it off. "I like being with you. It's nice having fun and it's comfortable just being with you. I still want you though. That's not going to stop."

Daniel smiled down at her, relief flooding through him. "You should get used to it," he said softly. He leaned in and kissed her lingeringly. "It doesn't have to stop, Trace. I have a feeling that I'm going to want you even more than I do now." He put down his beer and slid his arms around her waist. "You want to dance some more?"

Tracey did not want to break that kiss, but sighed and smiled when he eventually pulled away. "Of course I do." She fisted some of Daniel's shirt and used it to lead him back on the dance floor. Anything to forget her rejection was a good idea. Soon enough she was moving her body to the beat once again.

Daniel followed her out onto the floor with a broad smile. He was convinced he could win her over, make her see that she could be that kind of woman. That she deserved someone who would care about her and treat her right. He ignored the voice in his head that was calling him a jerk because he was doing the complete opposite to his wife by lying to her to be with Tracey.

He was a little more confident this time sliding his hand around her waist and pulling her closer as they danced.
