Who: Harry and Daphne
When: Thursday Evening
Where:The House
What: Cause we're bored
Rating: TBA
Status: Closed / Complete

He'd had to do some major convincing on his part to get out of working on Tuesdays, which included agreeing to work security at Ministry functions for years to come. Not only were they dreadfully boring, but an absolute nightmare when it came to Auror work. Everyone was a member of the Ministry or made large donations and therefore expected to be treated like royalty. A nightmare. That's all he had to saw. He was almost tempted to take back the Tuesday shifts. Had he not had plans with Daphne for Tuesdays, he would have said 'hell with that' to the entire plan. As it were, he'd agreed. He now had Tuesdays free.

At the moment, he was neck deep in annoyingly complicated paperwork about a case they'd had the misfortune of handling. He hadn't even been present at the time and now he was suppose to be filing report after bloody report. He'd gotten about half way through the third report when he'd grew more then a little tired of reading the bloody things and pushed it off his lap and onto the floor. He'd pic it up later. For the moment, it could rot for all he cared. With a small groan, he stretched out on the couch, throwing an arm over his eyes with a sigh. There were days when he truly considered quitting and finding something else to do with his life.

"I always am." he responded, cheekily. It wasn't very often that he was, but it was a definite sign that she was becoming a permanent fixture in his life ... though he supposed he wouldn't exactly call her a fixture, but it worked for the time being. When she mentioned hating his job, she could understand that. Sometimes he hated it. He didn't want to know what she was going to say when he told her that he'd be attending every Ministry function until the end of time. Not exactly a conversation he was looking forward to.

"Well, I suppose I can't complain about the bricks then, but I think we should upgrade to pepper spray or something." he smiled, his arm tightening around her slightly. He was kidding for the most part, but there was a small part of him that perked up slightly at the idea of being mugged. Perhaps pepper spray was a good idea. "Though, perhaps you should stick to the well light, populated streets when out in London after hours." Merlin help him, he just couldn't help the protective streak. He'd been doing it all his life and he doubted he'd be stopping anytime soon.

"Sure, sure," she said, nudging him a bit with her forehead. She didn't mind him being cheeky and cute and all around fun. They didn't even start off all that rocky, come to think about it, so she didn't quite know what he was like otherwise. Had Daphne known that he had to start attending to ministry functions, she would have understood. Any big functions, such as the Quidditch World Cup or anything that required a number of portkey's, Daphne had to attend as well. Naturally, her functions would probably turn out a bit more interesting than his, however.

She grinned, glad he was being protective over her. "Can't you just come with me and be my defense?" she asked, looking at him and batting her eye lashes a little. She couldn't help but laugh, however. "Really, you're my favorite form of protection. I wouldn't mind being saved by you," she teased. Daphne probably wouldn't even need pepper spray, or bricks at that, but if it made him feel better, she'd carry it around just in case.

For the most part, Harry was pretty easy to get along with. He had his moments of stubbornness, where he'd get an idea in his head and no one save Merlin himself would be able to talk him out of it, but he normally was pretty easy going ... except when he was jealous, apparently. He'd need to work on that. Though if it meant getting along with one Adrian Pucey, he didn't exactly think he'd try very hard.

"That's good, I think I might be a little put out if you get a new hero." he laughed. He hated that word, hero, but when talking with Daphne, it didn't seem to have the same weight as it did when talking with someone else. The ease at which the were together only further solidified his belief that this would be the best possible thing for the both of them.

"Please, as if I'd want anyone else to be my hero," Daphne said with a laugh. Back at school, she would have never thought she'd find herself saying that. Hell, a month ago she never thought she'd find herself saying that, but she was and she was happy about it. She rested her head against his chest, closing her eyes for a few moments as she thought of something to say.

"I'm really glad I married you," she said sincerely, lifting her head a bit. "I mean it, too. You've done ... something to me, I don't know what, but you've changed me and I really love it," she said with a soft smile, kissing him gently. She didn't know what he had done. Perhaps just made her happy, but it was obvious he had done something right. Even though he still may have felt nothing, Daphne still knew she was falling in love, regardless of whether or not she wanted it.

"Good answer," he grinned. That was probably the first time he'd ever been called a hero and actually enjoyed it. He wanted Daphne to feel that way, because in all honesty, he'd try his very best to be just what she wanted him to be. He'd had his own apprehensions about the results of this marriage decree, but despite everything, he was actually happy. He hoped Ginny and Hermione's marriages worked out just as well.

She all but verbal restated what he'd just been thinking and he couldn't help but smile at that. It was nice to know that they were somewhat on the same page. He was sure she had a slightly different perspective then he did, but if came to the same conclusion then he was more then happy. He returned her light kiss for a moment before deepening it slightly, his arms holding her to him. When he did pull away, he offered her a sincere smile. "I don't think I did anything. It's been there all along. Someone just had to take the time to bring it out is all. I'm just glad I got to be the one to do it."

"I know," she mumbled coyly, giving a smirk. Daphne's answers always tended to be good in some way or another, so naturally, him saying that didn't come as much of a surprise. Even if he had completely changed her into a different person, she still had that coy, snarky attitude that got her so far in life. Or in a lot of trouble, but it really worked out either way.

As he returned her kiss, she was glad he was comfortable enough to do that, even if they had been doing it for some time. It was funny how she always thought of Harry being comfortable before she did anything. If the thought came to mind that he may not have been comfortable with something she had said or did, she wouldn't have said it or done it at all. "I'm glad it was you to do it," she said with a nod. Had it been anyone else, she probably would have been weirded out, but with Harry, she was just happy. "I don't think I've ever been happier before."

At least he was doing something right. In the middle of something so unfamiliar it was good to have a base on which to stand. He couldn't possibly be that lost if she was happy with him. For the first time he at least knew the general direction to go from there. He himself somewhat shared the sentiment. He was happy with their current situation. He'd taken a chance on this marriage and he found that he'd made the best possible decision. There weren't thoughts of escaping or something better coming around the corner. He doubted it could get any better.

He would have stated that but he didn't feel like it would mean the same if he said it only after she had informed him the same. He wasn't just saying it because she had. Instead of responded, he returned his lips to hers. Perhaps she would be able to read it in his actions, he didn't know, but sooner or later, he'd tell her. The current moment didn't seem like the right time to do so, but there was no issue with kissing her. He didn't exactly think there was a bad time for that and if there was, he clearly didn't know about it.

The silence they shared between them was never unwanted. She wasn't big on awkward silence, but her and Harry never shared awkward silence before. Familiarity and comfort was always shared between them these days and she couldn't have asked for more. She idly wondered why or how she was able to get so lucky to be paired with someone who she managed to connect with after despising him for so long. Back at school, they wouldn't have been able to have this relationship, but now she felt as if it were meant to be.

A small grin was given as they kissed and she deepened it slowly. Other people, mostly her friends, would be so perturbed by the relationship they shared, but after many years of worrying about what others thought of her, Daphne realized that people, regardless of who they were, probably didn't think about her nearly as much as she thought. Unknowingly, she let out the tiniest of pleased moans, just as Harry had pointed out earlier in the week. She couldn't help but laugh, breaking their kiss at the mere thought of the bread. "I'm sorry," she said, releasing a short laugh.

Harry's own friends might very well share the idea that their relationship was strange. There would always be that particular hostility between Gryffindor and Slytherin, but he figured they'd probably be easier to convince on the topic of accepting it....well, most of them. Being stubborn was a part of the stereotypical Gryffindor mold, after all. He knew that well himself.

When she moaned, he felt the smile tug at the corner of his lips. It was just as adorable as it had been when she was eating, even if it did send her into laughter in the middle of a kiss. "See, I told you." Harry grinned. No, he hadn't been lying. He may attempt to avoid telling all the details, but he certainly didn't lie. It was a well known fact that Harry couldn't lie to save his life. He couldn't barely withhold all the information without giving himself away. At times he was hard to read, particularly when he was brooding, but for the most part he was an open book.

Daphne snorted, burying her face into his neck and groaning with displeasure. Well, maybe not displeasure, but she was slightly embarrassed that she had proved him right and that the first thing that came to mind was bread. And naturally, after that, the first thing that came to her mind was when else would bread come to mind if and when it happened again? Brilliant, now she associated sex and bread and it was just awkward all around.

Sitting up, she rubbed her face gently, feeling her cheeks redden and spread down to her neck. "You win," she said with a shrug, holding in a giggle. So she really did do that! Daphne laughed again, looking down at him.

Harry would have laughed had he known what Daphne was thinking...and ultimate do the same thing. As it was he just grinned at being proven right to his skeptical audience. His arm had tightened around her for the time she spent hiding her face, but released her when she sat up. It was nice to see the flush on Daphne's skin rather then his own, though, he also supposed that it looked better on her then it did on him. Funny how that always tended to work out that way.

"It's cute." he grinned, with a light shrug. He certainly wasn't complaining and he might even be disappointed if she stopped. "But I do believe you told me I would not be hearing any more of those?" he added, raising an eyebrow, teasingly. "I do believe you went back on your word."

"Aha, and you are wrong, Mr. Potter," she said with a grin, putting her hands on her hips. "I said you wouldn't be hearing any of the other ones, not those. Naturally, you'll here those every time I eat bread." She laughed and dropped her hands to his chest, letting them rest there for a bit. "I never go back on my word," she said with a sure nod. Daphne believed that, too. Even if she did on occasion, though it would be accidental.

She couldn't hold back a smirk, followed by another short laugh. Being this disgustingly happy and giddy all the time wasn't her, but she didn't hate it, that was for sure. As an added extra, she grinned. "And I'll make sure you won't be lucky enough to hear anything of the sort," she said teasingly.

Harry smiled, quite content to remain in his current position. He supposed he'd have to get up eventually and order something for dinner ... seeing as he had yet again neglected the shopping. He'd do it tomorrow, and he meant it this time. Tomorrow was always a better option anyway. "We shall see, Mrs. Greengrass-Potter ... and I still think that's a mouthful. I'm just going to start calling you GP."

When it came to the whole name thing, he was quite glad he was a guy and didn't have to change it. He was quite content with Potter. He'd spent over twenty years with that name and he highly doubted he'd take the time to remember a new one. He supposed at least with the hyphenated version Daphne took, she still had her name in there so she didn't have to worry about it either. "Anything particular you want for dinner?" he asked, before adding. "Bread's a given."

"Mrs. Potter works just as well, you know," she said with a grin, laying back down. He wasn't going anywhere anytime soon if she had anything to do with it. And since she had him pinned, it looked as though she did have something to do with it. Just because her name was hyphenated, didn't mean he couldn't just call her Mrs. Potter. It was much easier, after all.

"You," she said jokingly, making herself comfortable once more. "I don't know, surprise me. You know I like anything that looks good."

Harry didn't know what to make of the strange sense of pride he felt when she said that his name worked. Instead of pondering over it, he let it be. He'd much rather focus his attention on Daphne and their current conversation instead of the workings of his mind....that could take days. Women were complicated enough, but he'd rather deal with them then trying to figure out why he did what he did. His answer was that he just did, and he was perfectly fine with accepting that. That was all the explanation he needed.

"Well that explains why you like me so much," he teased, an arm snaking back around her when she got comfortable. He didn't make a comment on her response to what she wanted for dinner. Everything that came to mind would ultimately come back to bit him and he was quite done blushing for the time being.

At his little joke, Daphne laughed, giving a nod. "That's exactly why I like you, Harry. Because you look good," she said, still laughing. "And because you just taste so good!" she said, ambushing him with a kiss. It wasn't long or lingering, just quick and to the point. She laughed again as she pulled out of it and rested her head against him.

"Just get anything you want and I'll enjoy it with you," she said quietly, giving a half hearted shrug. She didn't mind, as long as it was edible.

Harry smiled, once she'd pulled back from the kiss, only then having a chance to. "I knew there was a reason." he chuckled, his left hand resting on the small of her back, his thumb idoly tracing small circles as they laid there. "And you don't taste so bad yourself...like...cherries, actually...which is kind of strange." he admitted, with a small shrug. Strange, but pleasant.

He didn't really know what he wanted. He wasn't particularly hunger, but he was thinking perhaps Thai or Greek. Either one sounded good. "What about Thai or Greek?" he asked, curiously. He wasn't sure if she liked either of those, but he didn't have a problem picking something else if she did. If all else failed they both liked Japanese and he couldn't very well get tired of eating that.

"Huh, that's odd," she said with a grin. "I don't like cherries at all," which wasn't entirely true. In France ... well, France was in the past now. She grinned and tried not to laugh. "I'm more partial to lemon or something citrus." That may have been a hint for sometime in the future if he needed to know. She did like her fruity scents, just not cherry.

"Greek sounds good, but whichever you prefer the most." Daphne had a taste for all sorts of foreign foods due to traveling a lot and being able to taste different dishes from different countries. And just then, a very odd thought came into mind. "Have you ever noticed that food from different countries seems to be based on a dare?" She wouldn't go into details, but he was a smart boy and could certainly figure out what she meant.

Harry shrugged. He had no idea why she tasted like Cherries, perhaps he was just wanting cherries. Who knew, though he did file away the information about citrus. It might come up later. "That's strange." he frowned slightly, but let it pass. It wasn't something to worry about. It wasn't like he didn't like it. Though, he supposed she could taste like a variety of different things and he still wouldn't give up the contact.

"A dare?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He'd never really thought about it all that much. Food was food. He knew what he liked and pretty much stuck to it. Oh, and Molly Weasley was the best cook in the bloody world...but that's about the only things he thought of in that department. "You mean, like I dare you to eat that without vomiting?"

"You're strange," she said with a nudge, still not making any effort to get off of him, even if she should have at least sat up again so he could get some food. Daphne was lazy, this much was obvious, but she was also overly comfortable with her Harry shaped pillow.

"As in, different countries eat bladders and intestines and brains and tongues. Don't tell me you'd eat that on a regular basis unless you had to," she said surely. It was true, who would want to eat that kind of food. "And in third world countries, the game Hot Potato just turns into My Potato and it's terrible." Daphne wondered if Harry had any idea of what she was talking about, but realized he probably didn't.

Harry raised an eyebrow as he listened to her. She'd been right, he wasn't exactly following her logic on the issue of eating brains and tongues. He was much more of the home based kind of person. If it happened in Britain, he was aware of it. "And you say I'm strange." he responded, returning her nudge. "I wasn't thinking about eating brains and tongues."

It was a strange concept and was actually starting to make him go a bit green. "Can we stop talking about brains and tongues." he asked, grimacing. After a moment, he grinned and added, cheekily. "Unless it involves yours."

Daphne laughed. "Okay, okay. No more discussions about brains or tongues. And I'm not entirely sure why you would even want to talk about mine. My brain is normal and my tongue ... well, you know what my tongue can do." She sat up again and winked. He didn't quite know just yet, but some day he'd find out.

"Okay, food. Greek and I decided that I'm hungry, so chop chop!" She clapped her hands and looked down at him expectantly. She couldn't tease him anymore without thinking about things she should not have been thinking of.

Harry laughed, and sat up himself. "Alright, alright." he responded, grabbing up the papers from the floor and putting them in a neat stack on the living room table. "I'll order your food, but we'll continue that tongue topic later." he responded, kissing her light before getting off the couch and heading out to the kitchen.

They had a variety of menu's from several of their favouite restaurants. All of them had been used at least once since moving in. Under normal circumstances, he would have just made something here...but he kept forgetting to actually go and buy groceries for the house. They had the basics, but nothing really interesting. He'd have to actually do that the following day.

Daphne grinned. "Why continue talking about my tongue when you already know what it can do?" she asked coyly. No, he really didn't know, but that didn't mean anything. She grinned again and returned her kiss, movie just enough for him to get up.

Sprawling out on the couch where he was previously, Daphne yawned and watched him go into the kitchen. "Get me something really delicious," she said lazily. She had no preference, really. Food was food and she'd eat it.

"Fine," Harry shrugged, smiling as he picked up the Greek menu. "We'll just put it to work, then."

He wasn't exactly sure what he wanted to eat or what Daphne might want to eat. Something delicious...which could be a variety of items on the list. After a moment of quiet contemplation, he grabbed the phone made a quick call before sticking the menus back in the drawer.

Popping back into the living room, he grinned taking in the sight of Daphne now being the one sprawled out on the couch. He didn't mind. In fact, he was rather happy with the change. Climbing back onto the couch, he smirked down at her. "So, what was this about a tongue?"

Daphne rolled her eyes and laughed. "Like you'd know how," she said challengingly, grinning the entire time. Her head rested against the pillow and she relaxed. This was too nice not to savor, so she said nothing more and just kept her eyes shut, just resting.

She didn't even hear him make the call, having tuned most things out to relax, but when she felt the couch move as he returned, she faked being asleep, though had to fight from laughing. Daphne couldn't blow her cover now.

Harry chuckled lightly, taking a moment to kiss the portion of her neck she had exposed to him. It was simply too tempting of an offer to resist. Starting at the base he took his time, working his way up to the spot behind her ear. There were just somethings you took your time doing. And her neck was one of those things that deserved the proper amount of attention.

"I know your not sleeping. You forgot to fake your snore." he responded, smiling against her skin. He was quite aware that she didn't snore. Make cute little moaning sounds, yes, but snore, no.
