WHO: Daphne Greengrass & Harry Potter
WHEN: Now, bitch!
WHERE: The Tipsy Turtle
RATING: We'll see.
STATUS: Closed/incomplete

Daphne was now slightly resigned to this whole arranged marriage thing. It was kind of tradition in her family anyway. Only this time, her parents weren't the ones arranging it and it was slightly inconvenient to be married off to someone she didn't fancy, know or really care to know. But who knew with her? First impressions were key with her. Harry could always impress her in some way, shape or form. Daphne never talked to him at school and from what she heard, he was a bit of a pompous ass. But hey, so was she, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad? Those thoughts meant nothing. It was Harry Potter. No one would ever respect her again. Not from her side of the tracks, at least. Full of insults, this one was.

In a green dress, Daphne slipped on a pair of sandals and looked at herself in the mirror. Apparently she cared about what she looked like, even when meeting someone she didn't necessarily want to meet. Sighing, she grabbed her bag off her bed and left her bedroom, wand in hand just in case any flock of pigeons decided to attack her as she left her flat. Damn London and the unfortunate amount of dirty, filthy birds. However, she did enjoy the city life. As she thought about that descending from her third floor apartment, she wondered where they would live. If he would move in with her, she would move in with him, they would get a completely new place. Who knew? Surely this would be a topic of discussion once they sat down and talked.

A pub was probably a decent place to meet. Merlin knew she would need a couple of drinks before completely agreeing to any of this. Plus, it was neutral. A place neither of them probably went often. She certainly didn't venture in there very often and she hardly doubted he knew where the hell it was. Stepping outside of her building, she took a right and disappeared into an alley where she apparated from about three meters away from where she needed to be. Walking was not her favorite thing in the world when it wasn't necessary. With a pop, she appeared behind the pub and took the back door in, sheathing her wand finding a good window booth for the two of them to look out when they weren't glaring at each other. Seating herself, she waited for the waitress to come over and take her order. "Guinness. Pint. And keep it coming. I'll need two glasses," she said quietly, crossing her legs beneath the table and her arms on her chest. Now she had to wait. Wait and marinade in the thoughts about her upcoming, unfortunate wedding.

This would be fun.

Daphne laughed as well. "Well, I'm all about sharing with anyone who needs to experience pumpkin ice cream. It really will change your life, you know," she teased, holding it up again, displaying it like a game show host.

"Alright, alright. Enough fun here. Lets go before I change my mind and decide to not invite you into my humble abode," she teased. No, she would never do that to anyone, but it was fun to say anyway. "Plus, I'm sure you're dying to meet Quimby." Obviously! Who wouldn't want to meet an over protective animal? "I'm sure she'll love you."

"How very kind of you to inflick your love of pumpkin ice cream on the rest of us." Harry responded, paying for the ice cream and taking the bag from the individual minding the shop with a thank you.

As set against this wedding and as unexcited he had been for this meeting, he couldn't say that he had not enjoyed himself so far. Sure, it wasn't like hanging out with one of his closer friends, but she seemed to have her own good qualities. If nothing else, he could see them living under the same roof without too much hassle...or at least without them trying to kill each other. That was all he wanted.

"I'm assuming Quimbly is your kneazle?" he asked, once they were back out in the fresh air. Given the time of year, it was relatively nice. Not too warm, but not cold either. Summer was one of his favourite seasons because of it. He often worked late and hated to face the cold once the sun went down.

"I do my best," she said nonchalantly, leaving the store along with him. Once outside, she breathed deeply at the welcoming of the fresh air. Still slightly buzzing from their previous drinks, any way that would clear her mind a little and sober her up was a good thing.

"That she is," Daphne supplied a nod along side of that as they walked. "It's only a couple of blocks. I don't live all that far from anything around here." And she didn't. Though she opted to apparate, doing so in muggle London wouldn't be a smart idea. Especially with so many people teaming about.

Harry listened, nodding at the appropriate spots, and switching the ice cream to the other hand when the bag started to get a bit heavy. He wasn't worried about the distance at all, he enjoyed being outside. He sort of wished he could spend more time out of doors, particularly flying. He'd missed it sense leaving Hogwart and often wondered if he would have been better off playing the game instead of stuck up in Auror Headquarters.

"So," he started up the conversation again duing a moment when it seemed to be getting a little two much like awkward silence. "How's your family handling this entire Ministry approved marriage issue?"

When Harry started talking and mentioned her family, Daphne gave a shrug. "I don't know. A mix between livid and outrageously livid." Another shrug was given as they continued to walk in the direction of her flat. "I mean, I suppose it's not going to kill them, but I do worry that they'll make the rash decision of removing my sister and I from our family tree. Just because of our purity." It was true, her father was rash when angry and she knew he would do something relatively close to that, if not that exactly.

"How are you taking it? Besides frightened I'll murder you in your sleep, of course," she teased as they slowly approached her building. It was a good question, as Daphne had always been big on inner feelings regardless of whether or not it mattered. She was very curious with some things.

Harry winced, remembering the scorch marks on the Black family tree that had adorned the walls at #12 Grimmauld place. Certainly something like this wouldn't be worth a response like that. It was far too small a thing to break up a family...though he supposed his sense of family was different from that of others. "Well, if it makes you feel an better, I hope it doesn't come to that." he responded, before smirking slightly. "You could always tell them that you keep me around for the housework. That should please them."

He wasn't exactly sure why he was making an attempt at humour. They didn't owe each other an explanation on the current issues, nor were they close enough to want to share, but it just sort of happened. Whatever the reason, there was no taking it back so he simply pressed on.

"I can't say I'm particularly happy about it, but the loss is worse then the gain. As much as I complain about it I do actually like my job and given its connection to the Ministry, angering them isn't exactly a recipe for success...besides, I figure if I don't draw attention to myself, I might be able to steal a little peace and quiet."

"They would ask why I don't have you in a French maids uniform or why I let you sleep in a bedroom and not a box," she teased. No, her parents would never ask a thing like that unless out of humor. They were rather tolerant compared to families like the Malfoy's and other older Pureblooded families. But that what was so good about having a family like that. While they were still respected by other families like their own, they were also respected by other bloodlines for their toleration toward everyone and not just their own kind.

As they reached her building, Daphne nodded at the front door, jogging up the steps as she normally did to open it. "I suppose being married will have its pros and cons. You'll be married into a 6 generation pureblood family and I'll be married to The Boy Who Lived," she said with a slight smirk. Opening the door, she walked in, waiting for him just ahead. "I'm on the third floor, but I'm lazy so we can apparate," she offered an arm to him and waited for him to take it before concentrating on her apartment. With a resounding POP, they were gone, appearing only seconds later in her living room where they were met by a sleeping cat.

Harry snorted. "Well, I feel like I should let you know...lace, feather duster, short skirt...I don't exactly have the legs for it." he responded, following her as she headed toward the front door of her building. "Though, I think I can downsize to a closet easy enough."

"I think I'm getting the better end of that deal. Marrying The Boy Who Lived is more of a con than it is a pro. Believe me, I should know. We're quite good friends." If that wasn't the truth he didn't know what else to say. That title was more trouble then it was worth.

Reaching out when she instructed him to, he placed a hand on her arm. Even after experiencing apparating along side someone else many times before, he still hated the feeling. When they reappeared in Daphne's apartment, he had to shake off the feeling before glancing around the room. One of the first things he say was her cat and he had to look twice. "Uh...that's not a cat. That's a large dog pretending to be a cat."

Daphne laughed. "No? Well, I'm sure I could find a potato sack, then." Another laugh was given as she said that, though it really wasn't all that funny. Well, a little. When he mentioned getting the better end of the deal, Daphne shrugged. He was probably right, Daphne's family was fairly respectable and she always considered herself rather attractive compared to the other girls in her graduating class. No, he was getting the better end of the deal. Definitely.

Another laugh erupted from her as he mentioned her cat being a large dog. "Quimby," she said, making that obnoxious kissy noise to wake her from her cat nap. The cat looked up and glanced at Harry before stretching for a long while and mosying over to Daphne, rubbing up against her legs. Bending down, Daphne picked up the rather large animal and held her as it loved upon her person. "She won't bite, but I'm sure she's formed an opinion by now. Pet her." Daphne always took extraordinarily good care of her kneazle. It was one of the most important things in her life and it kept her sane when there was no one else around. The cat gave a slight hiss, though didn't seem to care about much else other than being doted upon.

Obnoxious kissy noises weren't something he would have expected, but people were strange when it came to their animals. I mean, after all, look at Hagrid. Even he himself wasn't exactly innocent. He'd spent hours talking to Hedwig while at the Dursley's. Surely that wasn't any different....granted, he wouldn't be caught dead making any sort of nose that sounded anything similar to cooing.

Harry hesitated for a moment when the thing hissed, but reached out and petted 'Quimby' none the less. It looked nice enough, though he supposed he would hold his judgment until a later time. "Well, at least I know I won't end up with teeth marks in my clothing." he responded, with a wry smile.

After a moment, he pulled his hand away and returned his attention to the ice cream, which would melt if it remained in the plastic bag it was now in. "Where did you want your ice cream?" he asked, holding up the bag slightly. "I figure it's better if it isn't melted. It tends to change the flavour a bit."

After Harry pet Quimby and mentioned the ice cream, Daphne set her down on the floor and headed into her kitchen. "Want to eat it straight from the container or out of a bowl? Doesn't matter to me either way," she said reaching the kitchen and heading over to her silverware drawer. She rummaged for a moment and emerged with two spoons, holding them up.

"And we'll sit out on the balcony. The weather is nice enough, I think," she added with a careless shrug. If it got any cooler, she'd grab a sweater or a blanket or something of the sort, though she doubted it would get to that point. As she waited for his decision, she leaned against the counter, looking over at him.

"Harry Potter in my home. Never thought I'd see the day."

Harry shrugged at the suggestion and followed her into the kitchen. He was glad for the suggestion of the balcony. Being inside her home was a bit too...personal and he still was feeling a bit awkward about the entire situation. Being outside with the fresh air would be just enough to cover up the awkwardness, which suited him just nicely.

Plucking a spoon from her fingertips, he handed her the container of Pumpkin ice cream. "Why dirty more dishes then you have to." he responded, sticking the spoon in his mouth and turning back toward the living room. If he remembered correctly, he had spotted a set of sliding glass doors just off the main room. It certainly wasn't a bad layout and it was definitely a nice apartment.

"I never thought I'd get married, but there is a first for everything." he responded, with a smirk as he stepped outside into the warm air. "Though, you'd best get used to seeing me. We'll be seeing a lot of each other, I'm sure."

After Harry took a spoon and handed her the ice cream, she smiled and followed him out to the balcony. Smart boy, knowing where it was. However being the only set of doors in her home, it was a bit of a given. "Let me grab a sweater real quick," she said as they reached the doors and set down her ice cream. She listened to him talk as she grabbed one off the back of her couch and slipped it on. Picking up her ice cream, she smiled and followed suit.

Once outside, she pulled up a chair in front of the railings and took a seat, opening her ice cream and setting the lid down on the railing beside her and balanced properly. "Really? You never thought you'd get married?" she asked as she took a bite and looked over at him. "I swear, I've been planning my perfect wedding day since I was able to read. I wanted it to be the most important day of my life rather than just one of them." A shrug was given as she swallowed and took another bite.

Offering the ice cream to him, she swallowed the other bite and thought for a second. "I guess it comes with the territory," she added with an amused grin. "You know, seeing you and such. Especially since, oh I don't know, we'll live together."

He plunked himself down on one of the chairs on the balcony to wait as Daphne went to grab a sweater, the container to his ice cream, being neatly set on the stone beside his chair, out of the wind so that it wouldn't blow away when he wasn't looking.

He smiled slightly to himself as the familiar taste of chocolate soothed any remaining nerves he had. It was a wonderful thing chocolate. As Daphne came out to join him, it could have been Ginny or Hermione. He was quite comfortable in his current position. "Nah, it wasn't exactly one of those things I wanted to do. I had too much of everything else I wanted to do....not that I've actually done that either." he shrugged, reaching over to take a scoop of her ice cream when she offered, then offering her his own.

"In all honesty we could arrange it so that we rarely see each other." Harry responded, with an amused chuckled. "Though I have to warn you, that involves way too much effort for me. I'd rather just like to wing it and see what happens."

Perhaps this really wasn't such a terrible thing. At least they were taking the time to get to know one another unlike some people who probably just didn't care to meet at all, or bickered the entire time when they bothered to meet. Daphne was at least trying to be civil and she thought she was doing a rather good job of it, as well.

As he offered his own, she took a scoop as well and ate it, giving a rather impressed look at him. "Not bad, but it will never be better than pumpkin," she said with a small smile. She thought about what he had said pertaining to the other stuff he had wanted to do and the like. She had never really thought about anything else but herself and if she wanted something bad enough, she had no problems getting it. Normally, at least.

"Winging it might be our best bet, though I assure you, I'm one of the least tolerable people to live with. I'm up at the crack of dawn, I clean until I see my reflection in everything and I do Yoga until I can't feel my muscles anymore." Yes, Daphne did yoga and it definitely helped her stay fit. "You'll see me so much that you'll hate me the first day," she laughed.

Putting on a brave face, Harry did the unthinkable and actually tried the pumpkin flavour. For a moment he considered it, before finally giving his opinion "It's...relatively good." he grinned, rather amused. "That being said, I may just allow it to take up residence in our freezer."

For a moment he returned to his chocolate as he listened to Daphne talk about her common activities. "Despite being a guy, I'm not that horrible when it comes to picking up after myself. I'll have you know I know my way around a broom. As for getting up early and yoga, it really won't be an issue. Only rarely do I work in the evenings so for the most part I'll be gone in the morning. You can have the entire place to yourself to do as you please. Yoga, clean, any other sort of crazy girly thing. Go for it."

"Success!" She exclaimed playfully when he said he might just let it live in their freezer. That would be the ultimate prize of being married to Harry Potter. And if anyone ever asked what she saw in him, she'd tell them it was because he let her keep her ice cream. Yep, it was that important. Such a healthy relationship with food, Daphne had.

"Do you? Because I don't, so you'll have to teach me." Mostly, Daphne did her cleaning by magic. It worked well enough and got things cleaner than a broom or a sponge would. "I don't do crazy girly things. Shockingly, I don't do much at all, to be honest with you. Clean, eat, clean, leave, clean, eat, eat, sleep. I do sleep every now and again."

Harry grinned and leaned back against the chair, glancing up as he relaxed further. "The pumpkin and the chocolate can keep each other company. It's not fair that either one has to collect frost alone."

Not being a big lover of ice cream, Harry was finished with the chocolate relatively soon. Setting it down, he replaced the lid and cast a quick cleaning charm on the spoon before setting it onto of the container. That done, he returned to staring out off the balcony.

"No, I just meant I know how to clean. You don't spend seven years with Molly Weasley without picking up some good cleaning spells." he responded, turning his head to glance at her for a moment before returning it to its previous position. "That sounds relatively similar to my own schedule. Eat, clean, leave, work, work, eat, work, sleep, eat, work."

"Well, the pumpkin ice cream is very happy that you would allow the chocolate to be its friend," Daphne joked, laughing as she took another bite. She wouldn't be able to finish this ice cream off for quite some time, but she was determined to do it.

"Aha, because I've never used any cleaning supply in my life. And I refuse to own an elf, my mum thinks I need the one I had back home, but I prefer to not have the responsibility." She shrugged and took another bite of ice cream before looking over at him. "Well, then it looks like we'll be able to avoid each other just by having different eating schedules," she said with a wry grin.

He chuckled, amused and more then willing to let her continue to talk. It had been a long day for him and it was starting to catch up on him. Perhaps he spent far too much time at the Ministry, but he enjoyed it for the most part, so it had never really been a problem.

"I for one am quite glad that you don't have a house elf." Harry responded, remembering Hermione's rather determined means of gathering supporters for S.P.E.W. "Hermione would literally string me up if she found out we had a house elf. She doesn't really get the entire house elf situation."

Just the thought of the Brunette finding out was scary. He'd be lucky if he just ended up with her smacked him over the head with the broom the creature had been using and not something far more destructive.

Daphne had never really met Hermione, though she was always one of the girls chiming in about her hair and her teeth and all the other stuff. Looking back on it, Daphne probably never would have gone back to change it. She was immature then and still was, so there was really not much thought given to that girls name other than the memory of her hair.

"Yeah, well. I didn't find them too useful back at my parents' home, I doubt I would find one useful here." A shrug was given as she, too finished off her ice cream and set it aside. "That hit the spot," she said, setting her spoon on top of the empty pint.

Harry glanced over when she set the empty container down and offered her an amused smirk. "Perhaps it would be beneficial to keep several pints of Pumpkin ice cream in with my chocoalte." When it all came down to it, he didn't mind that he'd have to stop in at the small store on a frequent basis. He much preferred the Muggle world when it came to shopping. It didn't matter if it was clothes, food or music. Muggles just did some things better.

The sun had long ago set and it was starting to get rather cold. Pushing himself up and out of the ridiculously comfy chair, he turned back to face Daphne. "Well, I have to admit, this meeting turned out far better then I had imagined it would."

Daphne laughed. Perhaps indeed. She could probably go through ice cream quicker than most people could. Especially pumpkin. Normal food was rarely eaten by her, but when it came to sweets, Daphne had quite the tooth for it. It would show in time. "I think that might just be a great idea," she said with a smile.

When he stood, Daphne did the same. This meant it was time for him to go and for her to scold herself for having such a decent time with him. She rubbed her eyes for a second then smiled at him. "We should ... do it again?" it was more of a nervous suggestion than anything. She did have a pretty good time with Harry, after all.

Given the initial reaction he'd gotten when the entire marriage issue was announced, he was a little surprised they seemed to be getting on fairly well. He'd been about to suggest the very same thing, so it really wasn't a difficulty for him to agree. "Definitely. I'm off Monday, if you're available."

Monday, his much deserved free day, which was great because he'd always hated Mondays. He had promised Molly that he'd stop in, but that could easily be arranged along side his meeting with Daphne. While Molly tended to talk a good deal and fuss over him, he knew how to make it out of there in relatively good time.

"Monday sounds good," Daphne said with a nod and a smile. She couldn't believe she had fun with him. Part of her just wanted to jump up and down and scream about what an idiot she was, but truth be told, it wouldn't change anything. Even if she wasn't ready to get married, she knew it wouldn't be to someone she couldn't stand. Who would have ever thought Daphne Greengrass would have been tolerable toward Harry Potter?

She moved from the balcony and into the apartment again where it was warmer than it was outside. She smiled again as she walked to the door. They didn't need to say much more than what was already said.
