WHO: Daphne Greengrass & Harry Potter
WHEN: Now, bitch!
WHERE: The Tipsy Turtle
RATING: We'll see.
STATUS: Closed/incomplete

Daphne was now slightly resigned to this whole arranged marriage thing. It was kind of tradition in her family anyway. Only this time, her parents weren't the ones arranging it and it was slightly inconvenient to be married off to someone she didn't fancy, know or really care to know. But who knew with her? First impressions were key with her. Harry could always impress her in some way, shape or form. Daphne never talked to him at school and from what she heard, he was a bit of a pompous ass. But hey, so was she, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad? Those thoughts meant nothing. It was Harry Potter. No one would ever respect her again. Not from her side of the tracks, at least. Full of insults, this one was.

In a green dress, Daphne slipped on a pair of sandals and looked at herself in the mirror. Apparently she cared about what she looked like, even when meeting someone she didn't necessarily want to meet. Sighing, she grabbed her bag off her bed and left her bedroom, wand in hand just in case any flock of pigeons decided to attack her as she left her flat. Damn London and the unfortunate amount of dirty, filthy birds. However, she did enjoy the city life. As she thought about that descending from her third floor apartment, she wondered where they would live. If he would move in with her, she would move in with him, they would get a completely new place. Who knew? Surely this would be a topic of discussion once they sat down and talked.

A pub was probably a decent place to meet. Merlin knew she would need a couple of drinks before completely agreeing to any of this. Plus, it was neutral. A place neither of them probably went often. She certainly didn't venture in there very often and she hardly doubted he knew where the hell it was. Stepping outside of her building, she took a right and disappeared into an alley where she apparated from about three meters away from where she needed to be. Walking was not her favorite thing in the world when it wasn't necessary. With a pop, she appeared behind the pub and took the back door in, sheathing her wand finding a good window booth for the two of them to look out when they weren't glaring at each other. Seating herself, she waited for the waitress to come over and take her order. "Guinness. Pint. And keep it coming. I'll need two glasses," she said quietly, crossing her legs beneath the table and her arms on her chest. Now she had to wait. Wait and marinade in the thoughts about her upcoming, unfortunate wedding.

This would be fun.

Harry smirked lightly at the comment on not pulling his wand on her in the presence of Muggles. "I may know an individual or two in the Obliviator's Office, but I suppose they do seem to take their sweet time in dire situations." His words were merely in fun, if truth be told, he couldn't exactly remember where he'd stuck his wand. It was on his person...but there were a lot of pockets to choose from.

He was a bit surprised at her choice of beverages. Ale wasn't exactly a popular drink among the opposite sex. at least any that he knew. Normally, they liked the drinks with more flavour...which usually happened to contain the higher percentages of alcohol. He wasn't even going to get into that topic. Men didn't understand women because they tended to be complex and he was more then happy to admit defeat and remain completely oblivious.

Taking a somewhat smaller taste of his own drink, he shrugged a shoulder. "Both still alive and in relatively good humour. An accomplishment, I'd say."

No insult to injury yet. This was good. Civilized conversations were always nice. And yes, even thought Daphne had a rash and cruel mouth, she didn't always think the same. Her two years of partying and other wrong-doings had caused her to think before she acted in the long run. "They do," she agreed before taking another sip.

Complex. That was one way to describe the female of the species, though she was rather convinced that she was the definition of complex. A small, amused smile stayed put on her face as she set her glass down and looked at him. "So," she began, a short laugh given to his last response before going on. "We can sit here and joke around or we can at least try to work out our marriage. You know my feelings on it, though I'm not entirely against it. We can't avoid it, that much is obvious." A small sigh was given. At least their meeting was nice for a few moments. "We can at least try to get along and work through this."

The smile, followed by the laughter. He was definitely out of his element and felt a slight unease. The moment he had found that he was not only going to be forced into a marriage he didn't want and clearly wasn't ready for, but was also to marry a Slytherin images of Pansy Parkinson had popped into his mind, turning his stomach, making his blood boil, and cause a very annoying twitch in his eye....but this wasn't too bad. Sure, she had her downfalls, but as he watched her from across the table, there wasn't the same sort of blinding hatred for her as there had been for Pansy. Perhaps it was because they had never really run into each other before and therefore had not had the pleasure of utterly annoying the bloody hell out of each other. Either way, his bleak outlook for the future brightened just the slightest bit.

"I agree...though, I have a feeling a lot more ale is going to be needed." he responded, wrinkling his nose just the slightest bit. He wasn't interested in marriage and probably would not have been for many, many years, but thanks to the Ministry he was know floundering in the middle of one and had no idea where to turn to find a lifeline.

"Where do you suggest we start?"

He was out of his element? Daphne was so out of hers she figured there was no getting back in. She was completely and utterly lost, but at the same time, not so much. As much as she didn't want to admit that, sure, Harry was probably an okay guy, she knew that somehow, he'd figure things out, make them better, whatever. Shit!, she thought. She was falling into the Potter trap accidentally. More ale. That's exactly what they would need. Pitchers and pitchers more. Shit, she could probably drink a whole pitcher by herself.

"I think you're probably right," she said with a bemused look on her face. A wave of her hand was given and she knew the waitress would be over momentarily. "We'll need another pitcher," she said once the waitress showed and she was given a nod in return. Marriage was never given any thought by Daphne anymore. Not since she had broken up with Adrian her seventh year of school. That was her last relationship, pathetically enough. That was who she figured she'd spend the rest of her life with. Not Harry Potter.

"Where are we going to live? How are we going to be married? Are we going to procreate? When are we to marry? There's too many questions to be answered, Pot-- er, Harry. What do you want to do?" Just as she asked the final question, their beer arrived and a smile was given as a thank you. "Come back again in ten minutes," she said, grabbing her glass and downing what was left. The stomach of an old man, Daphne had. Ale was, oddly enough, her drink of choice.

Harry had just lifted his glass to his lips when she started firing off questions in his direction. The first two were relatively harmless. They would eventually have to be answered anyway...sooner rather then later. It was the third horrid question that caused him to breathe in sharply, thereby opening the passage way into his lungs and allowing the liquid to flood his lungs instead of his stomach and causing him to choke.

"Uh...make that five." he croaked, before the woman could get too far away. He was going to need it. Procreate? Oh, no. He'd just gotten used to the marriage issue. That was too far in. Oh no. Sure, she was attractive enough, that wouldn't be an issue at all...it was just... No, end of thought. Train has been derailed. he though frantically, closing his mind off to that entire issue.

"It doesn't matter to me where we live. I'm not attached to my flat and I can get to where I need to go from anywhere." he shrugged. lightly. He hadn't been too concerned about the living arrangements. He'd lived through 7 years of Ron snoring. He could like anywhere and through anything. "And I'd assumed we would be married the good old fashioned way."

"Breathe. It wasn't a serious question," she said, snorting slightly as she took another drink from her glass. Just his face made her laugh. Poor bloke. But one thing he didn't understand was that a womans biological clock was always ticking. Blah blah blah, whatever. It wasn't an important subject anyway.

Another laugh was given after another sip of beer. "Well, we have one of two options. You can move in with me. I live just a block away from the Ministry, or we could find a new flat together." Yes, emphasis on together. Maybe it'd be a good way to get used to doing things like together. It was a 'we'll see' issue. And as far as the wedding went. Hell, Daphne was likely to be a bridezilla. "How's just family sound, then? I don't think we should make a huge deal out of it. It's not quite as romantic as I had always pictured, but I'm sure we could do."

Daphne was one of those girls who would flip through wedding articles, planning her own years in advance, cataloging everything just in case it brought on new ideas. This was a much, much less attractive way to get married. However, she still wanted it to be some what special. Looking over at him expectantly, Daphne waited for some ideas. "I'm all in."

Breathe? How was one suppose to breathe when with one question the world starts to fall in on your head. Okay, perhaps it wasn't that bad, but honestly. Procreate? By far the scariest word in the English Language. Death himself was less frightening than that. "Yours is a good location, but I suppose finding a new place that suits us both would probably be the best bet. This isn't picture perfect to begin with. I highly doubt bickering over the sunny spots in a flat will help things along."

He had a feeling that it was going to be a very long conversation when he once again found that he was surprised by what she said. She was all in? What did that mean?, exactly? And since when? The last time he had checked, he was pretty sure that she hated his very existance...not that he had anything to do with the entire wedding or had done anything to change that outlook.

He was relieved over the her concept of the size of the wedding. The last thing he needed was a billion guests to smile and thank and attempt to remember their names. "Family is perfect! As for arrangements...what ever else goes with a wedding, you can have full control. If you need me to do something, the best thing to do is point and explain." he responded, with a lightly amused shrug. Organization and planning weren't exactly his strong points.

Why exactly did she say she was all in? "I don't know why I said that," she admitted with a shrug. "I'm still really upset about this." And she was, hell, she was sure she'd go home and talk to her cat about it. It wasn't like she had anyone else to talk to about it. No one else found it that big of a deal. And hell, all she wanted was to forget who he was and just go with it. Partly.

"Listen, I have all the money and everything and we can just look at random flats together and find something we can deal with. I figured you'll want a completely separate bedroom, so we'll get a multi roomed place. I'm actually thinking town house, if that's okay. There's some quite close that have recently been put on the market and I was actually looking into them just a month ago. A couple rooms, a kitchen and drawing room should suffice. It'll be just us anyway and I don't entertain people very often." And the reason for that was because someone spilled something on Daphne's couch that completely enraged her, not allowing a single person into her drawing room after that.

"I'll just invite my mum, dad and brothers. You can have whomever you want, I just think it needs to be as small as possible. Could probably do it in my families house, as well. We've got plenty of rooms and the elves make fabulous mini quiches." Weddings were always good for food and Daphne did love her food. She needed another drink.

Harry raised an eyebrow as she explained herself. It was certainly interesting, to say the least. "I'm actually glad you are. If you weren't, I'd be more worried then I already am." He could handle that. What he couldn't handle was being perfectly content with the situation. As much as he loved Luna, she was starting to irk him. No one should be happy about their new lot in life.

His raised eyebrow didn't last for long as it changed to a slight frown. "Actually, I'd like to pay for at least half of the flat, seeings as I will be living there as well." he instructed, completely serious. He could support himself and he fully intended to continue doing as such. "Though, I do agree that separate rooms would be for the best."

Given the amount of marriages coming up, including Ginny's, he didn't know who he would be inviting. Naturally, the Weasley's were top priority...which would be interesting given their rather sour relationship with the majority of Pureblood society. "Your families home, is fine with me."

Daphne finished off her glass and poured another. This was probably three or four by now, but she really needed it for her to fully be content with them meeting in public and discussing a marriage she was still slightly scared of. Again, she took a very hearty sip, listening to what Harry said about wanting to pay half.

"It really is no problem. It's going to be you putting up with a lot of over obsessing about curtains and whether or not the wallpaper matches the cat and other really unfortunate things. I'd hate to have you pay for something you didn't much care for. I can let you be in charge of buying all the food though. I tend to splurge when it comes to food." She really was a fat kid at heart. Which reminded her. They should order something to sop up all the beer. Or maybe go out for ice cream. "Do you like ice cream?"

Shit, she was already half buzzed on just beer. "At least we have that settled."

Harry had not been paying attention to how much they had been drinking, but he was starting to question it. She seemed all to calm and collected to be discussing something neither one of them wanted but both were resigned to. It was a little disconcerting, in all honesty.

"I wasn't aware the curtains need to match the cat...granted, I also wasn't aware that we had a cat." he responded, raising an eyebrow and taking a drink. "But it's a deal. You deal with the flat, I'll make sure everything runs smoothly." It seemed like a good compromise...well at least to him. At least this way they weren't stepping on each others toes.

"Ice cream?"

"I have a kneazle," Daphne said with a nod. "And she's huge, I'm not lying." A small amused grin appeared thinking of how some people were rather intimidated by the larger creature. She could understand why, they had a reputation of being very, very over protective of their humans. Taking another drink, Daphne looked out the window and cleared her throat as she thought about ... god, everything.

"Ice cream. You know, it's like frozen stuff, creamy, very tasty if correctly made. Plenty of flavors. Pumpkin naturally being the best. It also has cones sometimes, other times in bowls." Now she was just being a sarcastic pain in the ass.

A kneazle. Fabulous. He was going to get bit.

Harry shot her an unimpressed look for the sarcasm but didn't say anything about it. "I know what Ice cream is. I simply didn't know how in the world it related to our previous topic." he responded, finished off his own glass, before adding. "And chocolate is the best."

He wasn't a huge ice cream fan, but he did happen to have a particular weakness for chocolate. Anything chocolate was good in his books, so naturally Chocolate Ice Cream wasn't something to frown about.

"Well come on, then. Let's go get some." Daphne smirked and stood up, her bag quickly swung over her shoulder and their ale already taken care of as she dropped a note on the table for the waitress. Plus a tip, though she never really left any before.

"Pumpkin is better," she mumbled with a smirk as she walked past him, though managed to trip over her own foot. Yeah, she really needed something to sop up the beer that was splashing around inside of her before she got any tipsier.

There was a moment where he didn't move, his brain had not caught up to what his eyes and ears had taken in. Ice cream? Now? Shaking out the cobwebs, he stood with a slight shake of his head. They weren't fighting or trying to kill each other, so he supposed ice cream wasn't too big of a risk. After all, he didn't have to work in the morning and so for once, he might as well, let someone else do all the leading. "It's a bit late for ice cream, isn't it?"

"No, Chocolate is." he argued, automatically reaching out to stable her. Once she was back to balanced, she removed his hand. "And I thought we made the agreement that I was to handle the food? Drinks are included in that."

Reaching the door he pushed it open and held it long enough for her to get through. "Now where are we suppose to be getting pumpkin flavoured ice cream?"

"What is it, nine? Ten? There are plenty of places to get ice cream, you just have to look." Daphne shook her head and laughed slightly. Actually, she didn't really know of any that would be open, but she did have an idea. Even when slightly buzzed, she still had a functioning brain and when food was involved, it functioned well.

As he took her arm to balance her, she gave a leer out of habit and pulled it closer to herself after he let go. Why she did that, she didn't know, but it was probably more habitual than rude on her part. She did plenty of things like that. "Pumpkin," she said, gliding through the open door.

Once outside, she stepped onto the curb and looked around. "I got the drinks, you get the ice cream. C'mon. There's a muggle store just down here that sells ice cream at all hours of the night, and I suppose if we're in need of cutlery, we can apparate to my place and sit on the roof. Figured we could use some fresh air. Ice cream is an added bonus." She was probably coming off as either completely stupid or way too into this meeting of theirs, but she was just ... being Daphne. It didn't matter who it was with, ice cream was a very key ingredient in the life of Daphne Greengrass.

"Quarter to ten, actually." he responded, somewhat distracted. He'd glanced at the clock on the wall before they'd gone outside. It really hadn't seemed like that much time had passed while they had been talking. Time flies when your having fun, after all. And what was more fun then talking about the Minister being a pain in the arse.

"A muggle place?" he asked, raising a skeptical eyebrow but following after her none the less. "And your expecting to find pumpkin flavoured ice cream there?" He certainly hoped not, otherwise they'd be receiving some pretty strange looks when they went in looking for it. Pumpkin wasn't exactly a popular flavour in the Muggle world. That seemed to be a wizarding phenomena.

"I was close," she said with a shrug as they walked. One thing Daphne did enjoy was being out in the evenings. The whole atmosphere was different. People weren't buzzing around rudely, they were more or less enjoying London in its natural state. Which is what she did on a regular basis. And being as curious as she was, she normally did venture into the non-wizarding part of London.

"It's seasonal, but this place around the corner carries it all year round. It's not just a wizarding thing. I don't think I would have ever tried it if I didn't come in here," she said nodding to the place just up the road a bit.

It was a bit strange really...to be walking down a Muggle street with Daphne Greengrass (who he was suddenly expected to marry) on a quest for pumpkin flavoured ice cream. He would have laughed had he not been so worried about tipping the hesitant balance they'd constructed. With everything else going on around them, the last thing he needed was being in the middle of an argument while attempting to deal with the recent twist in his their lives.

"I have to admit that it doesn't particularly sound very appetizing." he responded, glancing up to read the sign that hung above the small shop. "But to each his own. " he added, pulling open the door.

After so long, Daphne had completely forgotten who he was and why she was so angry in his direction all the time. He was just another guy, she figured. Another person who maybe didn't get a second chance from people who wrote him off. This was too strange for her, but she continued to fight it internally.

"I promise you, it will change your life," she said with a smile, walking into the store. It was so weird shopping in muggle places, but she did have to admit that they did have some decent food and even better coffee. "It's in the back," she said, leading the way towards the coolers.

He was a bit skeptical about the pumpkin ice cream, but didn't mention it. It was still a strange concept...one in a long list of many. "Lead the way." he responded, allowing her to move ahead of him. She obviously knew what she was doing.

It was a rather nice place, when it came down to it. It was welcoming...but he supposed it suited the product it was selling. "Do you come here often then? You seem like you know the area."

And lead the way she did. Daphne knew her way to the ice cream like she knew the back of her hand. "Here we are," she said arriving at the ice cream coolers and opening the door while she scanned the pints for pumpkin. Aha, she found it and reached for it, holding it up to show him. "It will change your life."

A shrug was given at his comment. "My building is on the border of muggle and wizarding London and it's actually quicker and easier to come this way for ice cream and I make the trip quite a lot." She did. Ice cream was like a family member.

Harry followed after her, without so much as a word. He was content to just assume she knew where to go and which one to get. Giving the container a skeptical look, his eyes bounced from the front of the container to Daphne and back again. "If you say so, Daphne." he finally responded. He was sure there was nothing wrong with it other then the fact it wasn't a flavour one normally associated with the chilly treat.

"Don't take this the wrong way, but you don't exactly seem like the type to mingle with Muggles and actually enjoy it." Harry responded, closing the door to the freezer and taking the cold container from her.

"I don't really mingle, I just eat their food. And as pureblood as some may think my family and I are, we are not completely bias. Sure, we would have liked to keep the blood pure forever, but this is obviously going to change that. However, my parents have no problems with other blood and respect other families choices. However, we still mingle with our own more often than not. We're just more open minded than most will give us credit for." It was a bit of a long winded speech in her mind, but she wasn't raised to hate different blood. Once she reached school, she hardly cared who was what, though she had always kept up a decent front that said otherwise.

"Get something," she ordered with a smirk. "I don't want to be the only one eating tonight."

Well, it was certainly refreshing to find a Pureblood..outside of the Weasley's that didn't have blood purity as their highest priority. After all he knew many individuals who weren't purebloods and more often then not they had better personalities then the ones that hated them. Take a look at Malfoy. There were days when he truly wondered how the Gits own Parents could love him. "Good to know."

He had been about to head to the cash, but was stopped by the smirk and comment. He'd been all set with just the one kind, having internally determined that he was going to try it....no matter how gross it sounded. Glancing back to the coolers, he shrugged and pulled out one more carton of ice cream. Dutch Chocolate, naturally.
