I don't think I've ever smiled this much. Perhaps my face will freeze this way.

I hope you don't mind the gift I left you in your shop. He followed me home from dinner this evening, and somehow, I think that he'd be better suited guarding you. He is rather ferocious, don't you agree?

Do let me know if you need any assistance with him.

I'm quite serious when I say that this animal couldn't guard a thing. She's about as attentive as a housefly and about as fearsome as a jar of jam.

Though I've had some rather fearsome jam in my day.

... She's very nice, though. Follows me everywhere and lays by my feet when I sit down. I've given her some table scraps. What do dogs eat, anyway, other than scraps?

You could teach her to guard something, I'm sure.

Did you put the cover back on it, dear?

... they have bagged food you can feed them that is supposed to have more nutrition than scraps. I can bring you a bag of it, if you wish.

Please do, luv. I'll be spending the night finding out how to take care of animals.

I never had one. Well, I had a horse once, but that's very different.

I'll buy you the vital items one needs for taking care of a dog.

A horse? Oh, they're lovely animals! It's kind of sad that we don't really use them anymore.

Yes, apparently going faster than a horse can take you is vitally important in this day and age.

This generation is obsessed with speed. It was actually very funny when they started to all die in waves. Then they realized that slow was actually quite all right.

I like slow. Things move too quickly here. Sets me off, makes me wonder what happened to people's perceptions of time. 24 hours in a day are more than enough to do what you need to do, and have some time besides. Doubly so, with how easily this technology we've got takes care of our needs.

When I was a girl, my mother and I lived on an island. I remember having to pump water. I miss that life sometimes.

Perhaps you could move to the country? I know you are a city dweller by nature, but it is a thought.

Couldn't think of it.

This is my home.

Then we'll go visit the country and you can teach me how to ride.

You don't know how?

I'd be glad to.

I don't! I've always wanted to learn.

Thank you so much in advance.

I'm on my way with food and bowls and such.

I'm expecting my acquaintance, Miss LeBeau to be over with my dearest of friends sometime near dawn. It'd be best if we make this brief as possible, if at all possible.

Of course. I don't want to take up too much of your time.
