Damn it. Since when can I not access all of my fortune?

Is this some kind of joke? Apparently I cannot touch over half of my estate until I marry. What a load of bollocks.

My parents here must have been a couple of pranksters. All I wanted to do is sell off some of the unused houses and donate some money to charity.

Damn, now I'll have to start pulling my weight around the house to make up for your several millions lost.

It's not a matter of money, love. More that I'm bloody hacked off that I can't sell these ugly houses.

You pull your weight plenty, Peter. Just keeping the place picked up of your things is enough. Most boys are sodding pigs.

Turn 'em into brothels. It'll make up for your lost cash money.

Oh sweet christ, you're incorrigible. No fucking way, Peter Parker. Next thing I know, you'll be asking to run one of them.

No, no. Just take the rent and shoot people who won't take no for an answer. Vigilante violence is the best kind of violence.

While I am an ardent supporter of vigilante violence, especially being as that's how we met, I really wouldn't feel comfortable letting you strong arm horny men.

And since there is no bloody way in hell I'm opening a bloody brothel, the whole point is entirely moot!

I like strong arming people.

Why don't you come strong arm me?

I mean, I'm sure you do. Again, no brothel. But I've got a riding club in Staffordshire. Would you like to go over there and harass the non-paying clients?

That's so... I don't have a word for it. Old-fashioned? Oppressive. Stupid.

Bloody presumptuous is what it is. And archaic to boot.

Archaic. That's the sort of word I was looking for, but your vocabulary is obviously better than mine.

Want me to look into this and see if we can do something about it?

You're damn bloody right I do. Not that I don't want to get married. Someday. When I find the right person. Who's smart and cute and can give legal consent loves me.

I just don't like being told I have to marry.

You want to get married? Seriously?

I completely agree. Lemme look into this and see what we can do.

Someday? Maybe? I'm only twenty-three, Mia. It's not a supremely pressing issue right now. I'm not even dating, for heaven's sake.

But yes. Someday, I think I might like to get married. I just don't fancy being told that I have to get married to access my fortune.

I honestly don't know anyone who'd marry me anyhow.

You're not dating? Could've fooled me.

I agree.

[Lara]
Really. That's funny. *cough. cough* The way you and Peter flirt it's almost like an old married couple.

We-

We flirt? Oh dear. Like...oh dear.

He lives at your house, you guys hang out a lot, right?

I'm teasing.

Mostly.

Yes, you flirt. Maybe not as bad as I said, I'm teasing, but kriff, you definitely flirt with him.

Yes and yes.

Bloody hell. I don't mean to flirt with him. I just cannot stop myself sometimes. He's just lovely, Mia. Funny, smart, sweet and so very adorable. And ever since he mentioned how good his "spider tucchus" looked in the suit, I can't stop myself from looking.

But he's sixteen, Mia. SIXTEEN! What am I going to do? I'm twenty-three for God's sake. I have no business having a crush on this boy.

Funny, that's what I say about every new guy. The flirting just happens.

Maybe what I said while you were drunk still applies. Sounds like at some point, you're going to have to get over your crush on him, or go ahead with him. It's sounds like it's driving you crazy. I completely sympathize. Though at least Jamie's my age.

That's not even a choice, Mia. I can't go ahead with him. I just-

I just can't. Putting the age difference aside, what if it doesn't work out? I'd have to make him find another place to live, and he was already completely neglected by his parents here. I don't want him to think he's unwanted again.

It'd be so much easier if this bloody vortex just made him at least 18. that I could handle much better. Bugger.

I wish I knew what to say. Maybe I shouldn't be saying anything at all.

If you tried and it didn't work out, I'm sure something could be worked out. And don't forget, you have a really really really big house. You could probably go days without seeing each other.
