Erato ([info]sexysonnets) wrote in [info]undertherainbow,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:erato, leonard "bones" mccoy, navi, sohma shigure, varric tethras

"I'm a doctor," say his baffled tones
"Not a lover," or so he bemoans
To a delightful fairy
Who's not the least wary;
She'll happily jump on his Bones.

...I do not actually know why I've written this. What is this form? It's not one known in my time and place. And it's not at all lyric.

Even so, it is...strangely satisfying.

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. It bewilders me. It seems correct, but what is it?

Are you one of my followers? You are...quite familliar.

I believe they call them limericks. Not a medium I'm entirely familiar with, but you wield it with such grace!

I would very much enjoy following you!

Limerick? Odd word. And I would argue about the grace. As I said, it is not at all lyric. Still, if it serves the purpose and tells the tale that needs to be told, that is enough. There have been much stranger poetical forms used.

You are a flatterer, I see. I am Erato. And you are?

Far more graceful than most limericks. You'd think Nantucket was a booming metropolis from the way most people write.

Sohma Shigure. It's lovely to meet you.

Nantucket? Nantucket, Nantucket...after 'bucket' and 'fuck it' I cannot find many viable rhymes. Perhaps you have a point. I had not thought of grace as being relative.

Likewise, Shigure. Though I think you are known to me. You are a writer of romances, yes?

Oh, you know how fascinated people are with buckets!

I write many things. I'm flattered to find a fan!

Are they? Mortals are so curious at times.

Any tale of romance has my attention and approval. I should read them more closely now that I know you.

Ah, are you the two subjects? I was not sure if it was taken from truth, imagination, or possibility. It is hard to tell sometimes. I'm glad you enjoyed it at least, even if your paramour seems unenthused.

We are, yup! And Leo always seems unenthused, it's why he's so cute.

No making the fairy blush, pretty muse! It's not fair, I get all red!

(He really is the cutest Grumpybottom, though, isn't he?)

Ah, but the color suits you well. Ask your...Grumpybottom, was it?...over there. I'm sure he will agree.

And yes, he is most sweet, despite himself. I'm very pleased my first poem in this place was about such a pair and hope you will be my subjects again in the future.

But I'm a blue fairy, we're not meant to be red!

I hope so too, if it means what I think it means!

Ahh, but blue is for devotion and red is for passion! And combined they make purple, one of the most royal colors of love. It all suits you.

You're so pretty! ... you have a person to love, right? It would be weird if you didn't have someone and you inspired everyone else.

Alas, I just arrived, those who I love myself have been left behind. Though there were none at this time except in my memory, so I am not grieved. But I have lived a long while, I know there will be more such chances in time. And there is much to do meanwhile!

But I thank you for the compliment and your concern. You are most kind.

Well, you need not worry about me for now, I assure you. I am very happy at present. I may not have a love or loves of my own just now but I have much to see and explore and write about, and that keeps me more than content.

Do not. Believe me, if there is reason to worry about me it will be very obvious! But such times are rare. I have a happy nature. How could I not, with so much pleasure in the world to inspire me?

They're usually pretty bawdy, if that's more your tastes.

Any tale of love contains a spark of me within it; that is who I am and what I do. And you are prolific, so we have met many times, though never so directly as this. My name is Erato.

Bawdiness is an excellent thing, in all its forms!

Oh, you're one of the god people? That's got to be a good job. What's your specific godly arena, love? That's even better. And yeah, More books equals more coin for me, but I really do like writing them. Don't tell anyone.

Yes, yes it is. You're a god I can get behind. ... that wasn't a pun.

Not a god, no; I am a Muse. I aid and inspire all those who would write romantic and erotic tales. Including the bawdy ones. And of course you do, who could not enjoy such a task?

It most certainly was, one of the classics.
