The transition was most difficult to begin with; I was actually pursuing the path of a brother in the Chantry - I suppose that's like church, here. I was thrust back into the princely role here, but at least Monaco is not at civil war with itself.
I've adapted, I think; at first I was upset, but I've been using the position to do things like charity work and to help speak on issues such as refugees in Africa. The palace in Monte Carlo will be the site of an upcoming meeting between two warring countries' leaders to attempt to conclude a peace treaty. I don't feel a duty to Monaco, per se, but certainly to its people. I do not make the laws here, but I have an obligation to give them a ruler to be proud of.
I've also made some dear friends and found a truly wonderful woman to share my time with. And a puppy. Really, life could be far worse for me here.
