I've noticed a distinct lack of drama around these parts lately.

Funny, that.

Yeah, she left.

Took her father with her, too.

Weird how you can almost tell what the problem is when it's there but when it's gone, you suddenly know.

So how's things with you folks, big guy? I mean, other than the current Thing that's been going around?

Yeah, I almost feel bad, like I did it with my mind.

And the Thing was ... I don't know, it could've been worse, but I think Cass is going to get sick of me clinging to his leg soon.

Is it bad that if that were the case, I want to thank you? I mean, it's not the case at all and I think you know it, but still. It's a load of relief, and I feel bad that I feel that way.

It could have been a hell of a lot worse, Soren. Coulda been zombies again. But I wouldn't say that you getting closer to the ones you love is a bad thing. I'm really glad the three of you are still around. You're all my kids, even though I just sometimes borrow you.

I feel that way too, which is why I think I feel guilty.

I'm glad you're around. I mean, Papa's gone, so it's good that little me has someone to look up to. And the sea monkeys need their Grandpa.

So ooooold~

I'm really proud of you, you know that, right? You've been through a helluva lot over the past few years, Soren. I know I've yelled at you for a few things, but I do it out of love. The bunch of you are good kids, you just still make some stupid-ass decisions from time to time. I know Cass instigates a lot of it, but you need to balls up a little, and not let his ongoing case of the stupids influence you. I'm telling you this now, mostly because I didn't want you to think I was pissed off at you for something specific. I'm not. You guys are fantastic. Just... really stupid sometimes. Not gunna lie, I'm guilty of it, too.

Uncle Teague, you just described the human condition. Everyone's pretty stupid at some point. And I've gotten better at being the Voice of Reason Within A Very Silly Margin.

... okay, so how do you deal with pregnant mood swings?

Foot rubs. Always, always footrubs. And if she's being "NO TOUCHY" right then, you walk OUT OF THE ROOM and IGNORE THE DESIRE TO HELP. This is harder than it sounds.

I've mostly been crying at Disney movies with her.

That works, too.

If she kicks you out of the house for a day, you're welcome to come by and help me with the wee kids.

I can always use poop wrangling practice, since I'm sure that'll be my main job. Cass would barf on the babies.

He's a wuss. You can tell him I said that.

Cassie's out of diapers, but Brendy's still in 'em. I seriously don't know how half a jar of strained squash turns into three gallons of shit, but well, there you have it.

Oh, don't worry, I know. I'll tell him anyway, though.

Does Brendy like weird food even as a baby? And I think that's what babies do. They can even turn water into poopbombs.

Well, for what usual babies like to eat, he's definitely got weird tastes. He recently cut his first tooth and refused to gnaw on anything BUT the frozen carrots we gave him. And he really likes corned beef mash.

He's the tiniest gourmand. That's adorable.

I wonder if any of the kids will get my eating habits? Sugar isn't good for little ones.

Sugar in moderation. I've never had problems with giving kids sugar, it's just important not to go overboard with it. Sometimes-foods, Soren. It's why we bake two batches of cookies at a time. Big-people cookies and little-people cookies, one with reduced sugar and margarine instead of butter, and the full sugar and real butter variety. That way, if the kids get into the cookies, they're at least getting into stuff that won't set them on the road to obesity or heart disease. And if you keep healthful sweet snacks like applesauce or fruit leather around, and cut down the amount of actual candy you have in the house, they really WILL enjoy that stuff. Candy's only for really special occasions.

And in a few years, you'll be lecturing people how to keep their kids from eating junk food all the time, too! Just like me!

I mean that they shouldn't snort Pixy Stix all the time like I do. Trust me, you taught me all sorts of fun songs about why applesauce rules and stuff.

That's what I tried to tell him, that and the 'also ignore me if I throw things and say I hate you' so far we haven't gotten to that, but it's coming if I'm anything like mum.
