I woke up this morning in my flat and was promptly assailed by a large tornado. It appeared to set me down in my flat again. However, upon arriving at my company, I discovered that my things and my nameplate were in my own Vice-President's office. The incompetent twat was in my chair. CEO of my company. As in, not me.

While that is going to be taken care of very quickly, I would like an explanation for the tornado, given that something is obviously amiss.

Calliope? What in the name of Hell is going on? You're alive? Or ... where am I?

It's not home. Similar, but not. I know it all sounds crazy, but this [website] explains it all. I've been here for years.

Good lord, was it designed by a child?

Just ... oh, Calliope, I'm just very glad to know you're all right. You went out one night and never returned. I feared the worst - I've been tracking your sire for years, thinking he'd somehow found you. I ought to have known better.

This all sounds mad. But you wouldn't lie to me, and I did get swept up by a bloody tornado, so it must be the truth. I suppose I'll have to remove that drooling idiot in my office the old-fashioned way. At least my company is still mine. Or it bloody well will be.

I believe so, yes.

My sire is dead, mistress.

... may I come back to work for you? I currently have an employer or two, but one of them has me do work only when needed, and I could still help Erik out from time to time. Being a bouncer and bartender is simple, but not wholly time consuming.

Dead? Did you kill him?

And I wouldn't have it any other way. No one is as good at the job as you were, if I might say so. Your talents are utterly wasted being a bouncer. You're far more imaginative than that.

He killed himself after he couldn't find me. I found his last girl. I care for her.

I have a certain skill set. And I mostly do it because Erik is a ... friend. Of sorts.

I have a daughter here.

I hope you'll pardon me for being surprised at nearly all you've said. I frankly didn't expect you to make friends. Or care for anyone. I apologise if that's rude, but remember, I don't lie to you.

I'm very, very pleased he's dead, though I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to kill him. And I'd like to know about a daughter. Did you adopt one that you decided to keep, or have you met someone? I simply cannot believe how much I likely need to catch up on.

I know, Mistress. I didn't expect to either. Johanna, my daughter, is very much like me - she was caged, and now she is free. It's wonderful to watch her spread her wings. And Erik is a bit like you, which is why I suppose I enjoy his company. And there's Teja, who is as fond of my hobbies as I am, and there's Him.

I'll have to make her acquaintance, if it's all right with you. And I look forward to making all these acquaintances ... you've piqued my curiosity with capital letters, I must say.

I would not mind, but you may want to ask her. Johanna Barker is her name. Her father is rather famous.

But Sir is ... special. I live with him now. May I work for you but continue to live with him? He wouldn't allow me to leave, regardless.

I've never asked you to live with me before, I see no reason why I would now. Though if you have another job, I wouldn't want to interfere.

Have you attached yourself to Mephistopheles, Calliope? That's either brilliant or hitting a level of stupidity I never thought you capable of, I haven't decided.

It's all right. It's the course I've chosen. And he seems to like you well enough, so he shouldn't object to me resuming my employment.

I replaced the CEO of Bank of America. I could retain the position for financial purposes for Janus.

You may have more power in the financial sector than I do! Truly impressive. I'm apparently back to being regional. Ugh. Though the Mayfair Club still recognized me. The concierge was different, but he still bowed and scraped to the point of revolting servility. They appear to be spreading a new sort of poker nowadays.

I really must take care of that parasite in my office.

You know, I was going to do it myself. But you're not known here, as far as I can tell. If you'd like to, why don't you go and indulge.

Just keep away from the desk itself, that desk is mine. The rest of his appalling furniture is apparently from the storeroom.

It will be a genuine pleasure to see you again.

I met Calliope after a long period of basically living in the woods, it's true. I think it's her own intelligence which taught her the eventual usefulness of tact and subtlety. Though I dislike speaking of her as if she's not here.

My name is Catherine Chabatier; I should be the CEO of Janus Corp here in London. I'm afraid you have me at a disadvantage, sir.

I don't make it a point to meet every one of the undead. I do, however, take one hell of an interest in any creature who can be cutthroat and debonair in the same proverbial breath.

You've come just at the beginning of a fun little spectacle in my name. You're welcome to come to Radek and stay out of the path of upcoming destruction and watch from afar.

Oh, I wouldn't insinuate you waste all your time with each one of my kind. I simply was a bit scandalous in my ... home world, I suppose. It might have gotten your attention. But no need to get too ahead of myself, I daresay.

Spectacle? I confess I'm curious. And where is this Radek? Is there somewhere I should avoid?

London is a good place in particular to not be, and Radek is in the Sahara, just near the Libya/Niger border. Calliope can come fetch you and I'll make sure the two of you have a fine dinner as we get to know each other.

If you're wondering, I remember you because it's a very rare mortal that actually asks me to bite them. Most of your lot don't have the balls. And you weren't bad, for a mortal.
