Anyone interested in meeting me for lunch? I need to get out of this office for a bit.

I know that feeling.

Coffee and a sandwich would be good, if you are up for old cowboys and cafes, Ma'am.

I think that would do just fine.

And I have no problems with either cowboys or cafes.

Good. Then, I reckon the question comes to when and where?

Ah, and I'm Carter Slade, Ma'am.

Pleasure, Mr. Slade. Alexandra Cabot.

I'm in New York, so, depending on where you are, would determine where we decide to have lunch.

And you, Miss Cabot.

I can get there easy enough. I'm in Washington now, but near a portkey.

I could be there in under an hour.

I believe that works for me. I have about an hour's worth of paperwork before I can go.

If you'll give me directions to where to meet you, then I will be there right as rain.

There's a quiet cafe down on [address] that has the best deli-style sandwiches in Manhattan.

I'll see you in an hour, then, Miss Cabot.

Now now, no need to fight. I'm sure there's room for three.

You think so? I'd love to join you if it isn't too much to ask.

I fear I'm at a loss for something to do.

Not at all. You meet more people this way.

We're going to be meeting at [address] here in Manhattan. If you can get away for an hour or so.

Getting away will be no problem! I'll be there.

Excellent. Can't wait.

This paperwork is trying to suffocate me.

Oh dear, that's never good. Anything I can do to help? Though I don't believe I've ever done paperwork in my life...

Nah. I'll be fine. I'm used to it, there's just more than I'd prefer.

Of course 'any' is more than I'd prefer. But, life of a lawyer - there's always paperwork somewhere.

Oh. Lawyers in my day had it much easier.

Mind, their clients...usually were beheaded. No matter what they said or did.

I'm sure there are some who would feel that, in this day and age, beheading would be an apt punishment.

I didn't like beheading back then...nor would I like it now. So many people would father about and cheer just to watch someone die...

It was a disgusting trade.

I didn't say *I* liked it.

New York's been wishy-washy on the death penalty for years. It's legal for a while, then it's not, then it is, then it's not.

Unfortunately, on that particular topic, I have to follow the winds of politics, whether I like it or not.

And I didn't mean to assume you had! My apologies.

Politics were always something I was never fond of. Even back in France there was so much corruption among the leaders...

I doubt it's changed much. Politics and corruption seem to go hand-in-hand. It's just a bit more subtle now.
