You know who would've made a good vampire? JD Salinger. He hated people anyway, so he wouldn't have had all those emo existential issues. He'd have just lived in a cabin in the woods and fed on moose or something.

	I don't know vampires to be anything but social creatures. It's a hold over from when we were mortal. Salinger would have been an awful vampire, in any case. 	You're thinking of Hemingway. Salinger only died earlier this year of natural causes. And I don't know, I was just thinking - weren't vampires always meant to be scary? What happened to that? I should bring that back. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Yes, vampires were once reviled as terrible beasts. It was that damn Bram Stoker who portrayed vampires as debonair and well mannered first. Hell, even Dracula, and I mean Vlad Tepes, was more terrifying than his fictional counterpart, and he was merely mortal. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Yeah! I mean, Stoker's book is all swoony and Victorian and ripping bodices and crap. Vlad's all 'I'mma impale you' and stuff. Hell, I'm scarier than most modern vampires.

Really, I think writers have just taken the 'creature on the outside of humanity' thing a little too far and turned vamps into Deathcab For Cutie listening wimps. Yup. Totally going to write a book where vampires nom on babies indiscriminately.
