I am sorry to approach you out of nowhere like this, but I would like to ask you something. My name is Ezio Auditore da Firenze; I come from what you would know as Florence. I am employed by Signora Petit, who I understand is your daughter?

I have met Signorina Ronia and find her enchanting company that I should like to know better. However, I would not wish to interject myself in places that may find me trouble. All I need to know, signor, is would any trouble come from you?

It is perhaps rude to speak of the lady behind her back, but best to avoid unpleasantness at all costs. Please advise me; I would be in your debt.

It is not nearly as out of nowhere as you feared, Signor Ezio, I have heard well of you from Petit. I am not Petit's true father, I am from a mirror dimension, and therefore have very little to no claim on her mother, if such a thing could be done.

My thinking on your interactions with Ronia is very simple: if Petit has decided you are competent and credible enough to hire and introduce to her kin, I have faith in her judgment. The only trouble from me to worry about if things go sour in a bad way. And at that point? I'm not the biggest danger to your self.

My advice would be you can rarely go wrong by starting with old-fashioned chivalry tempered with modern views of her independence. Respect is always preferred by women and if she wishes less courtly overtures, she'll make it known.

I see. I'm glad you have heard good things! This idea of dimensions and changes is extremely foreign; you must allow it's not a usual thing. Nonetheless, I am glad I asked of you; I have seen it that sometimes what a lady thinks is different than what a gentleman thinks about a relationship.

I am told ladies are much more forward than I am used to - the last year I remember is 1499. To be honest, I find it refreshing. I would not be rude to a lady intentionally, but to be able to do more than speak of the weather and the latest fashions of Milano is refreshingly liberating.

Where I started from, we had a few trips to worlds much like ours except for some important difference, though this one is the strangest by far. While she is very stunning and alluring, Ronia and I are not pursuing anything beyond friendly meals.

Ah, that explains your style of writing. I'm sure many women here would go mad if that was the only thing they were expected to speak of.

I was born in Firenze, and I have been to Venezia, to Roma and Forli, as well as to Spain, but to my knowledge, there was nothing in the manner of dimensional travel. Not even these motor-cars.

I am told I speak in an old fashioned way but it is how I have always spoken. And ladies were not expected to know too much of anything but. An interest in politics was permissible, if only because it seemed like each family of Firenze decided to take their turn in killing every other, but beyond that? So-called ladylike things. Unless one was a courtesan. I enjoyed courtesans very much, but believe it or not, it was about equally for their company as for their other talents.

My homeland was, at best, just starting to colonize at your time. Ther have been events in my life that's scattered me across the globe and even into space. Unfortunately, rarely were those trips peaceful enough to enjoy the surroundings.

Everyone speaks differently, I have my hometown's accent and use French now and then. I would understand the preference of courtesans to other ladies of the court. As much as I admire form and grace, a vapid beauty is just as dull as a dour pastor.

You speak truth, Signor Lebeau. Her wit is a substantial reason why Signorina Ronia is so enchanting! Well. That, and I admire professional expertise.

Professional expertise, yes. There is something about knowing a woman can filet you before you blink that's very exciting.
