I think I need one of those Cosmo magazines. I'm so confused about all of this.

Oh honey, you don't want any of those, they'll just go and make things worse.

I don't know anything about dating.

Honey, trust me, cosmo'll just make that worse. Especially since they'll have differing opinions all in the same issue, let alone from one issue to the next.

What is it you're used to?

Well.. My parents tried to marry me off to a prince from a neighboring kingdom last year and I ran away to live with a dragon.

Oh. Oh I see.

Well, cosmo certainly isn't going to help you there. Best advice I've got is keep your eyes open, what's this boy of yours like?

Keep my eyes open?

He's sweet, and very intelligent. Much smarter than the princes and knights back home. And he's handsome, too. And a good kisser.

Well sounds to me like you've got your work cut out for you darlin'.

One thing I've learned in all my years dealing with the menfolk: Fastest way to their heart is by yoinking a hole in their ribcage. Barring that, food. Good food, and lots of it. You have anything you consider your specialty?

Cherries jubilee. I cook for him a lot. Men like that? I mean, I know they like to eat but I didn't really realize it was romantic..

Well the romanticism is all in the setting hon. Cherries jubilee by candlelight is automatically more romantic than cherries jubilee standing at the kitchen counter. See?

Oh, that does sound nice. Why didn't I think of these things before?

I'm just going to take a stab in the dark and say it's because you're from a different time, did things differently then.

That's true. Courting was much simpler when you were just expected to marry the first knight that rescued you from a dragon or a giant... Not that I ever cared much what people expected. I suppose I brought this on myself.

It is sort of fun, though.

And that right there, the fun? That's the most important part. Don't let yourself fall into what's 'expected', do what you have fun with.

That's good advice. I've never been one for doing the 'proper' thing. I can only hope my parents don't try to get involved.

Are they likely to, do you think? Sometimes that's the hardest part, getting them to let go.

Unfortunately, my sisters aren't here to distract them. They do live far enough away that they don't know, yet. They're still far too concerned about who I'm to marry, though.

Ouch, sorry to hear it sugar. I'm not going to suggest lying to them if they want to know something, but I'm also not going to suggest running off to tell them right away.

I doubt they'll ask. They probably assume I'm patiently waiting for them to decide who I should marry. We don't chat much anyway. Most of the time they pass messages along via their aids. Apparently the queen thinks cell phones are beneath her.

Oh, my name is Cimorene, by the way. Sorry I've been so rude.

Well you haven't been any ruder than I have. I'm Samira, most people here call me Sami, or bosslady, depending on who's talking.

I own a tavern. Well, okay, it's a bar, but I like calling it a tavern. We've got live bellydancing Tuesday through Sunday, and we've got a couple servers who dance on the off-nights.

You should, it's a fun place, won't say it's got the most romantic atmosphere ever, but I like to think the fun makes up for it.

We are now, didn't used to be on account of taking up what used to be storage space for a couple buildings on either side. We've got an elevator instead of a ramp, if that works for you.

Oh good! We haven't had much use for it yet besides making another platform for the dancers.
