I don't suppose anyone has any large collections of magical items or books they need sorted or translated? Things just aren't the same without a dragon to work for.

A little, here and there. It was helpful to have a little magic when I was a dragon's princess.

My father's crest includes a dragon. There aren't any around anymore in this plane of existence, the few remaining ones now stand as guardians to the gods and their treasures.

It's a shame.

It couldn't be helped. Dragons, that I've read of, are honorable but very volatile and powerful. Many overlords have tried to harness their power for themselves, but it always destroyed them. Only such immortals could deal with dragons.

Well, if the idiots' idea of 'dealing' with dragons involved stealing their power, then yes, it would take an immortal. But if a person has a little sense, it really isn't that hard.

I'm not sure about 'stealing', anyone who tries to steal the power of a dragon wouldn't live too long to harness it. Most try to bargain with them, and most dragons will agree to share power, I think out of amusement really, to see what happens.

The problem with being immortal, is that you get bored rather easily-I think it's one of the reasons my father chose momma as his queen.

Harness, fine. Still sounds like a stupid idea to me.

It depends, if the person has the experience and training, they would be able to harness such power.

My father told me of this one woman Jola, who tried to harness the power of the Black Dragon, but she was careless and had no experience of such magic-it almost killed her from the inside.

He attempted to train her to control it, but she didn't like the thought of serving under him and so she left.

That doesn't make it right. Dragons shouldn't be used, regardless of how bored someone is. I think that's awful.

I think you misunderstood, dragons aren't of this plane of existence, atleast not the ones I've heard of. They take the form of air, water or stone and are very well respected and revered for their power, those born under the sign of the dragon are said to share a Dragon's characteristics.

They don't live and die as other creatures, if they didn't want you to have their power, gods help the fool who tries to 'take it'.

I don't think I want to understand that way of thinking. If you respect and revere something, you don't have to have it for yourself. Of course, I've never liked power-hungry people, immortal or otherwise.

Different cultures. The monks that live in the mountain, they sometimes have to kill to survive, but they respect the animal they kill by making sure nothing goes to waste.

If you somehow have the nerve to request power from a dragon, you'd better be willing to make a dear trade for it, if you don't want to end up 'extra crispy' or your home to be flooded or trampled. That is what I mean by 'fools who take the power of the dragon', there is always a price to be paid even if the dragon finds favor with you.

Still. Power-hungry people leave a bad taste in my mouth. Whether they wind up crispy or not. There are better things in this world than power, and those who chase after power tend to be.. Well. Jerks.

Some don't see it as power, rather they prefer to not serve under anyone-and gaining power is the only way to do so.

That was how my father became Emperor, though it was more out of self defense-his late master was going to kill him when he no longer 'had a use'.

I should send you a history of the Shokanites, a race of half human, half dragon beings. They live in the subterranean realm just near momma's kingdom, and value honor to the point of ruthlessness.
