In order to further understand the phenomenon in question, I feel I should gather information from others on their experiences in being drawn to this supposed alternative dimension.

Perhaps one or more of you might volunteer to explain to me the principle experience that brought you to what we’ll label “focused reality shift.”

I much enjoy that phrasing. Not at all as flighty as “bubble theory,” but I warned Dr. Linde on naming things that sound like lavatory cleaning postulations.

Though I do enjoy those cartoon bubbles that clean the toilet. Oh! Imagine if such were true.

Might I suggest not discounting those of us that were born in your focused reality shift, from those who were brought here? We have memories, stories, etc of this place, but traditions of our own worlds.

Also, hi, I'm Cassie, and I think you win my 'Interesting Person of the Week' award.

Brought here, you say? My, if that is true, then the implication is that my theorem on random causality will have to be shifted to accommodate intent.

My, this tosses the proverbial “simian wrench” in my hypothesis.

No matter, though, science is malleable, not unlike calcium soaked in an acidic compound.

... Oh, you were saying young lady?

Well, maybe I misspoke. We don't really know what brings people here, or if it's sentient. It doesn't seem to be some kind of god, since it brings various deities here, too. I've simply gotten used to the idea that there might be a plan involved, since things seem to happen almost too perfectly sometimes, to be truly random.

And I was just saying hi, and offering what I know to your study, Mr...?

I think it appears as a tornado for a lot of us.

If you mean what we were doing directly before being pulled in, I wasn't doing anything beyond the norm. My roommate and I did movie night one night a week, and I was sitting on the couch eating popcorn with her when it happened.

Hmm, a tornado
A vortex.
Similar words have been used to describe the event in question.

Baring any munchkins, however, I suppose we can discount weather phenomenon as the true root of this dimensional shift.
Heh, you see what I did there? The reference? Quiet clever.

The “tornado”, in fact, might be merely how our senses process the unique sensation of crossing through normally unperceivable cosmic events.
Yes, perhaps we have all passed through black-holes, funnels of dark-matter which our brains process as these meteorological events.

It is exciting to ponder, is it not… Did you say you brought popcorn?

That was a pretty clever reference.

I suppose it makes sense that what we're looking at as a tornado or a vortex isn't what's really happening. Is there any way to get around that? Like open our perceptions wider?

Do you want some popcorn? I'm sure you've probably got some there.

The thing that brought me here was a tornado that saved me from having a house dropped on my head. And that's that.

I would've blamed Glinda for it, but she's more the type to use bubbles and glitter for everything.

Another instance of a conical force displacing residents into this plane.
My, this is growing to be a fascinating exercise. Sort of cognitive calisthenics, yes?

Though, it sounds as if you were fortunate. I am fairly certain that falling domestic dwellings do not present a safe situation.

Ah, we were just speaking of bubbles. Are you an advocate of Dr. Andrei Dmitriyevich Linde’s Bubble Theory for explaining our current predicament?
Or perhaps you enjoy those delightful cartoon bubbles that scrub the shower while we sleep?

It's interesting, I'd leave it at that.

Falling houses are never safe. Unless you have some sort of reflective barrier, then they're faintly hilarious.

I've never heard of such a theory. Glinda just flew around in a bubble, that's all - it was her 'thing', just like Elphaba's was her broomstick.
...Cartoon bubbles? That's a strange thing to say.

Oh, yes, yes it all seems to be in order for now. I was just attempting to start some preliminary research to determine just what brought us here.
Once I obtain a few more pieces of information, I believe I’ll have a base to begin some experimentation, which as I’m sure you’ll agree, is a delightful circumstance.

Popcorn!
This talk of dimensional paradigms has given me a craving for popcorn. Not the microwave kind, mind you, the kind done over a Bunsen burner.
We do have some of that, do we not?

Sure if you say so, Walter. I guess I'll be your new lab assistant unless Astrid ever shows up. Or Peter for that matter.

Jiffy pop yeah I think they still make those. I'll go to the store and get some. Let me know if you want anything else while I'm out, okay?

I was a-walking in the orchards on Avalon when I was swept up by a great wind and brought here.

I thought it a very unfortunate happenstance at the time, but now have come to love it here.

It would seem that many of us share the same experience, a wind, or funnel, or tornado. Interesting. Whether it is speed, or direction, or simply a natural manifestation of cosmic forces, I can not say.

But thank you, young lady, this will help.

There was a popular discotheque in Boston, by the name of Avalon. My son was enamored with the thought of getting in there when he was a youth.

How strange. But then, the history of my time has grown into this time and place's legends and myth.

I laugh to think of myself as myth, as would my brother, I would think.

I am contented that I am here now. One does not know all the forces that Nature has in Her power.

You speak most strangely, sir. You are a man of science, may I assume?

As for me, I was sitting upon a tree branch over a brook, singing a little when a cloud of wind tumbled me into the water.

I woke up here, half drowned and frightened out of my mind.

I certainly do feel most at home in science's embrace, metaphorically speaking of course.

A cloud of wind, you say? This is growing to be a most interesting venture.

And tell me, did you, or do you now, experience any symptomologies worth noting? Apart from the drowning, of course.

I was actually asleep when I was brought here, though from what I can safely assume due to what would be an extraordinary coincidence, I was literally brought here by a tornado.

Thank you for the information, ma'am. Every little bit helps us move closer to causality.

Also, if you could direct me towards a place with good waffles. I find myself most eager for waffles lately.
Perhaps it's a side-effect of dimensional travel?
Or is it time to eat? Hmmm...

I believe I was brought here as an act of mercy. The world in which I lived before... governments had collapsed, monsters were taking over, and the population of at least one small Eastern European country wanted to kill me.

Tell me, you have done quite a few drugs in your time, yes?

My, that sounds a bit like a dream I once had, though instead of monsters, they were cutlery and other utensils.

It was after that I was encouraged not to experiment so heavily with Tetrahydrocannabinol.
Of course, this was before such stringent laws were in place, which tends to increase the appeal, I find.
