Now I know why we always stuck to warmer climes. Ice is gross.

I like ice...

It has its place and all. It's fine when it's small, and in drinks.

Don't mind icesicles either, but in general? Ew. And it hurts when you fall on it.

Oh -- I can't fall on it. Handy, that one.

... do you levitate? Or are you like a Norwegian Forest Cat and have furry tufts for traction?

I can't NOT levitate anymore. A couple years ago I was shot with an enchanted arrow. I'm not sure what idiot thought it would be a good idea to enchant arrows with constant levitation -- maybe it was a half-ignorant attempt to make arrows that would fly until they hit something, I don't know. But the result wasn't arrows that never landed, but arrows that made whatever they HIT levitate. Robin couldn't get the tip out without killing me, so now I just... am always in the air. It's exactly like walking on the ground, except I can't fall, and I have to pay attention to make sure my feet are touching the ground or it's like in those um... those moving pictures in the story-telling box thing? What's it called? That thing, the ones where the weird-looking animal walks off a cliff and doesn't fall? If the ground isn't flat and I don't pay attention, I stop walking on it.

... Somebody needs to smack a mage I think.

Just on general principles, they so rarely know what they're doing and that's a shame.

You're a sensible one though, aren't you?

Probably not. I'm 17. There's only a certain amount of sensible I can possibly have. Not to mention I'm not very advanced yet. But I am in the Guild and everything!

Pfffft, who better to be sensible than the young? The old are too set in their ways to remember how.

Let's look at it this way: Would you ever be silly enough to put a levitation spell on an arrow?

If I was a hunter or a fighter, and hadn't been sufficiently trained to know that that's not how enchantments work, I might.

Or, to be completely honest, if I thought it would be funny.

But you aren't a hunter or a fighter, right?

And that's a perfectly acceptable reason to do anything.

No. Just a mage. Sometimes I help Robin hunt, if we need to eat, but mostly I don't kill things. Mostly I'm sort of a performing intellectual.

That's better than I do! I just make lists and the food shows up in the cabinets.

I mean, I know Jack and Bill (probably mostly Bill) go buy it and put it there, but I never see them do it, so it's like magic!

I suppose I could ask to go with, but I'm usually busy with other stuff, I think Bill waits until I'm distracted so he can change the list without my noticing.

I never been a fan of ice myself. Thankfully, s'almost never that cold 'round here.

How've you been, Free?

Not too bad, went off to Anne's feast for thanksgiving, that was fun, don't see her often enough.

Since then I've been trying to invent a new kind of christmas cookie, no luck yet, but the results are pretty tasty.

... except for the bacon chocolate chip ones, that was ill-advised.

Aw, yeah. I was wonderin' where you guys headed off to, then. I made pies. Ain't no good at the rest of it yet, but I tried.

That is a right noble enterprise. Anythin' else worth trying? Also, no. The idea that 'anything is better with bacon' stops at baked goods.

Made some chocolate confetti cookies, but somebody already invented those, so it was kind of a wash.

The trick is just coming up with a combination nobody's thought of yet that's actually good.
