I've been doing a lot of thinking. With the business just being the two of us...I think it's time to do some recruiting. And to formalize things. Here's what I'm thinking:

1. Five full-time investigator positions. Two of them are taken up by us, assuming you're still in, so three investigator openings left available. Salary is 65k a year.
2. At least one, possibly two, more research assistant positions open. This is not counting Bree, if she still wants it. If she doesn't, then at least two, possibly three openings. Salary for this is 40k a year. Bree would be under the table until we could legally pay her, obviously. Unless there's some way I can get away with paying her legally. They wouldn't be coming on investigations with us unless we sorely need it or there's no apparent danger.
3. One secretary position. He/she won't be coming on investigations with us, unless we sorely need him/her.
4. Consultants...I can't think up any other word for it. This would be what Dean does, assuming he still wants to. Investigators-for-hire? Hm. Whatever. I'm thinking a flat 12k fee, with bonuses thrown in on a case-by-case basis.

So, what do you think? I want honest, constructive criticism. I never went to business school, so I don't know how a more formalized structure is going to work.

You still want to help us with research, Bree? I can understand if you don't, I...haven't been myself recently. I'm trying to get a more formalized structure going, so I just need to know if you're still in so I can determine how many research assistant positions I have open.

Still interested in being a consultant for the agency? Or, uh, investigator-for-hire. Whichever term you prefer. I'm putting together a more formalized structure for the agency, so I figure I should know.

Dude, no. It's a favor to you, and I don't need the money.

You can do it. I never picked it up - don't need something that makes me easier to track.

Could be worse, you could've always been one.

Figured you'd say that. Got a particular charity of interest? I'll donate the 12k there.

It's a long trek. For now I've got it down to one or two a day, maybe another if I'm really stressed. Which is a huge improvement over where I was, trust me.

Very true.

Anything with kids sounds okay by me.

Yeah, it's something you're going to have to fight your whole life, but you can.

Got it.

I'm prepared for that. If I can fight dark gods, I'm pretty sure I can kick a cigarette addiction.
