Lady Jane?

So it is true. You are alive and well, praise God.

Do I...

Wait, I've seen your portraits as I read history. You are Anne of Cleves, the woman Henry married after my death?

I suppose the marriage would make history, I believe I was the only queen to get from the marriage alive.

Not to speak against Henry, we are..were, good friends once the annulment was settled.

But yes, I am Anne of Cleves.

From the history I've read, Catherine Parr did as well. She survived Henry.

It is nice to meet you.

I'm not that acquainted with the Parrs, I'm afraid. After the annulment I tried to stay away from the politics of court-it is too dangerous.

It is nice to be able to meet you too. I've actually just played with your son, yesterday I believe. He's a really sweet little boy, he calls me 'Aunt Cleaves' and will always rush to see me.

You would've been very proud.

Nor am I, it's just what I've been reading.

I wish I could have known him better. Thank you for being so kind to him.

It was no trouble at all, the child needs a mother-figure, and as sweet as the Queen Katherine is, she is still more of a child herself.

I love all of Henry's children, even dear Mary.

I may have to start reading as well.

So, the 'calender' is true..this is the year of our lord 2008? I thought that getting used to England would be difficult.

Yes, I had hoped to bring Mary back into the line of succession once I was queen.

Yes this is the year of our Lord 2008. It is quite different.

I was more concerned about placing both daughters in the king's favor.

Indeed it is..the clothing I'm dressed in, they would say it makes the English ladies seem modest..and yet no one seems to mind.

At the time I was with the King, I had not known of young Elizabeth being taken out of the of favor. Mary had been banished for years and never saw her father after marrying the Lady Anne. I had wanted to change that.

She was declared a bastard the day Anne Boleyn was beheaded. And Elizabeth is such a dear child, so smart for her age.

I convinced Henry to invite both girls to the castle for the Christmas holidays.

I don't think Mary was too fond of another protestant queen, but soon she was able to over look such things.

I cannot help but think of them as my own-though I imagine Mary would prefer to consider me an 'older sister'.

I do not remember much of that. For me it was all a blur as Henry and I got engaged.

You were that much in love? I should feel jealous, but I was rather content with the divorce settlement so I mustn't complain.

He was my everything. I never thought I could love someone that much.

Truly, I have never been a romantic. It was not encouraged at my house and if I showed any signs of being attracted to someone, I would be accused of being 'wanton'.

Splendid. I will make arrangements, unless you have found a place in Los Angeles you have taken to.

I have not. Most of my time has been spent with my charges.

Everything I think of involves something scandalous, I'm afraid.
