With eyes bleary by the lack of sleep, he stared at everything around him. The many screens around him that forever flashed with information that disappeared far too quickly to take in, the staunch preparedness of the staff that resulted in a quiet, yet busy hum, but none of it came even close to the white noise that the city generated, something that every single wall. Even after a year of being back, it was still something he noticed, but it didn't grate on his nerves. He assumed that was the way Sam must have felt around electronic devices that did want to do his bidding. But that was neither here or now.
After another sip of the bitter coffee and again, regretting that he was far too lazy to go back to get the sugar, Samir finally drew close an unoccupied chair, but only sat down after stifling another yawn. And then it was back to sipping the coffee, as if it was something precious. And in many it was, it was. He enjoyed food or drink, but sometimes even something simple like that became a next to impossible thing. And so, he often either binged or treated it like it was worth the world to him.
But for now, he was going to be lazy. And if only Erol had caught the younger man, legs stretched out and sipping from a cup of coffee while everyone else was busy at work, he would have gotten smacked in the back of the head. But even the Commander had to sleep.
