WHO: Eisen and Renata
WHEN: May 31, 2014; afternoon-ish
WHERE: Beach huts
WHAT: Video things, trying to be normal.
Renata Parker was not an island girl, not naturally. Being warm and sweaty all the time just wasn’t in her nature, but she had adapted over the last few weeks, thank god. Sure, she had recorded a rant about how sweat was gross and someone needed to invent something to make that not happen, but still after she’d gotten that off her chest she had learned to deal. And no one but Eisen had seen the footage, because wi-fi was a thing of the past and she wasn’t going to give Maddie or Ryder ammunition to needle her about. The latter was good at finding things all on his own.
She wondered what was going on in the world around them though. If their channel had already become obsolete and whether the fans on tumblr had moved on to other vloggers. But even with no wi-fi and no way to talk to the people of the internet, videoing things was still a habit. And at least if they were doing things they could do a massive upload once they weren’t playing their very own effed up version of Survivor.
At least that’s what she kept telling herself.
“I missed the new Spider-Man movie.” She was sprawled on one of the lounge chairs on the deck, flipping through the pages of a fashion magazine one of the other people had left sitting around. “And the new X-Men.” Her nose scrunched up in annoyance. She usually tried not to think about the things they were missing being stuck where they were. “I’ll be so out of the loop, E. You’ll have to watch everything with me when we’re back.” Tilting so she could see him better, she grinned.
At least she’d have an awesome tan to lord over all her friends back in Portland, even if she was probably going to be months behind on everything pop culture. Looking on the bright side kept a lot of things at bay.
“I’m bored though. Are you bored?” With a couple easy movements she was sitting back up straight, legs crossed. “Please say yes.” Stretching one leg out she bumped her toes against his leg. “And that the battery on your camera is charged.” She smiled hopefully, and totally ignored the new and annoying part of her brain that wanted to get stuck on super distracting things about her best friend. "I have an idea."
