“What would you say if I said yes?” Abram asked with the faintest of grins. “Doesn’t every little bit help? Especially when we’re all facing down real live horror movie shit?”
His interest was piqued about this ‘other blonde medic’, Abram could admit she wouldn’t be the first woman to growl at him. Could make for an amusing exchange, and currently he liked the idea of amusing, better than grim and dark. “She growl at people often?” He asked curiously. While he did have that habit of wanting to protect people, he also liked to give people the benefit of the doubt. A wide grin broke across his face at her gasp and the fact that she was totally playing along in this. He didn’t offer any sort of reply in words, but instead just gave her his best ‘you couldn’t get upset with this face’ look. “That’s why I have it, makes it easier to get people to believe me. Sadly I don’t have the power to change this situation, but you can bet I would if I could.” This woman really was a breathe of fresh air, a likeminded person in a sea of doom and gloom. “I will never refuse more sunshine-y, non-doomy company. Damn, I’m sorry about your sister being stuck in here.” Had to be the worst thing in the world, watching a family member living in quarantine with the threat of zombism hanging over their heads.
Abram chuckled. “Could be all those daytime T.V. shows pulled their stories straight from my family, you just never know.” He was teasing her and in truth hadn’t ever seen a single daytime tv show. “Nothing worse than a love triangle, So I’m going to pass on that.” Right now their lives felt a little like a movie, so turning it into a soap opera didn’t seem that far fetched. “It’s tough, but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?” He made a show of acting like he was relieved. “Oh good. I’m always willing to listen, though I’m sure I’ve got people in my life who would argue I don’t always follow advice well.” His father namely, but that was a whole nother can of worms.
“Really,” Abram answered. “You’re looking at a bonafide bull rider.” Who was actively trying not to think about what this whole being trapped on an island thing was doing to his career. “Nah, it’s not an actual requirement, but the effect is lost kind of if you skip the hat,” he remarked. “So I take it you’re a New Yorker?” At least her words had made it seem that way. “You don’t get many cowboys coming around back home?”
