Nate wondered if one day he’d be able to read Logan’s facial expressions better, discern exactly what was going on behind those brown eyes of hers. They hadn’t spent enough time together yet for him to be able to do that, so instead Nate had to settle for being left wondering.
“They are! You’ve never met my Gran, if there was I way I bet she figured it out.” Louisa answered, ignoring the little pang of sadness she felt at the thought that she might never see the woman again. “You know, I think she’d like you. You’re not Irish, but I think she’d look past that.”
The young girl was moments away from making some smart remark back at Logan, when she caught the word on the end. “Esh? That’s not even a word.” She exclaimed, not exactly familiar with Hebrew at all.
“Wonder who she could have learned that from,” Nate teased, his mouth quirked up into a smirk. Truth be told he liked Logan’s fiery nature and it didn’t really surprise him that the younger Graves might have learned a trick or two from her big sister.
If he had thought about his actions before doing them, he would have stopped himself, but Nate’s response to Logan’s shove had been done without a moment’s hesitation or thought. He looped an arm around her and pulled her towards him, though he stopped short from giving her a good hard kiss for that shove - but only because his mind caught up with his body and he remembered they weren’t alone. Shooting a glance up ahead of them, he noticed that Lou was inspecting something on her crossbow and hadn’t caught the interaction. “Later I’m going to pay you back for that shove.” Nate hissed as he dropped his arm from it’s spot around her, letting Logan loose again.
“I promise I won’t shoot anything but zombies,” Louisa hollered back over her shoulder, not even sparing the adults a look. “Dad’s ‘I told you so’s’ are the worst.” She added.
Nate simply made a face at the back of his daughter’s head before glancing at Logan. “My ‘I told you so’s’ are always warranted though, she forgets that part.” He was hoping his daughter behaved with the crossbow, because frankly he didn’t like the idea of having to be upset with Logan or Louisa - he wasn’t going to look to closely at why the two were lumped together more often than not in his mind now. This wasn’t anything serious, Logan was just, well, he didn’t know what she was, but it wasn’t a thing. (Liar.)
