Nate truly didn't mind Lou spending time with Logan, actually there was a selfish part of him that liked that the two got along so well. Stepping into Logan's space, he kept his voice low as he leaned down. "Why don't we save that for another time, Graves." It was probably pushing the envelope a bit, what with Lou being right there - but near as he could tell his daughter was occupied and not paying attention to a word he said. "Ha, ha. You both think giving me a hard time is hilarious don't you?" He stepped out of Logan's space as he spoke, going back to his earlier post of standing about three feet away.
Being eleven years old and having no idea what was going on between her dad and Logan, she wouldn't understand the images her words conjured up in either adults minds. They definitely got Nate thinking though, he didn't hate the idea of meeting Logan's dad and that thought was confusing as hell.
"Maybe they'll meet sometime, you know when we're off this island." Louisa chimed in again, oblivious to the grown ups thoughts or the look that flash across her dad's face at that thought. "That's not fair, aren't you older than both of them?" The young girl screwed up her face. "Hey! I'm fast, you're just both older."
"Both routes kind of suck," Louisa remarked with attitude.
"Lou," Nate warned.
"Well they do." She reasoned, though she deflated a bit and cast an apologetic look in Logan's direction. "Sorry."
"Oh yeah, aunt Adelaide told me once that they destroyed the whole house with one of their blow ups," Louisa frowned, realizing she still didn't know where any of her aunts or uncles were. "He might..." She went with the change of subject, casting a glance at her dad.
Nate rolled his eyes. "Course I'm going to let her practice," he answered. "Just wasn't going to let her do it before she knew what she was doing with the thing."
Some other time Nate wouldn't have been wasting anymore more time out here flirting with her, they'd find somewhere private and move onto different activities. But with Lou present he couldn't exactly whisk Logan off somewhere. Which was a damn shame, because that smile she was giving him was getting him worked up in ways that made the idea of ditching this practice really appealing. He gave her a look that made it more than clear he'd follow through with all this flirting later, when they didn't have company.
"Obviously," Louisa dead panned, listening to Logan's directions on how to aim and the pointers that may help her. Once she positioned the crossbow and aimed it, she took her first shot. It missed the center of her target, hitting below it and to the right. "Dang it," she hissed.
"Not bad for your first try, Munchkin," Nate encouraged. "Bet the next one will hit dead center."
