WHO: Lucas and Deb
WHERE: The resort.
WHEN: FORWARD-DATED - March 11th, 2015, during the zombie attack.
WHAT: Chaos and zombies happen. Lucas and Deb get caught up in the fray.
Running away from the chaos hadn’t even crossed Lucas’ mind. No, instead he had ran towards it. He was returning from fixing a faulty lock on one of the main doors when he heard the beginnings of chatter about something happening on one of the upper levels. He had caught the teenager by the arm and asked in a none too kind manner what was happening up there. The only reply he received had been a rushed ‘I don’t know, think zombies got up there or something,’ before the teenager had slipped out the door to do whatever the hell he’d been doing before Lucas had stopped him. His thoughts raced to Ro and the kids first. They didn’t live on that floor. Still, there was always the small chance that they had somehow found themselves amongst the chaos. So without thought for his own safety he ran the handful of flights of stairs, slowed down some by the mass of people that were fleeing the chaos. Lucas didn’t waste time in shoving through the masses in the hallway, muttering curses as he did so. His only thought in that moment was making sure his family were not caught up in this. Shoving his way into the first room he came upon. Lucas found it devoid of life, the inhabitant of the room already fallen victim to the attack. It wasn’t anyone he knew though and he tried to ignore the pang of guilt that washed over him when he felt relieved over that fact. There wasn’t a point in wasting time worrying about that now though. He still didn’t know where his wife and kids were. Still didn’t know if they were safe. Spinning on his heel, Lucas was confronted with a stiff ambling it’s way back into the room and straight towards him. His fingers tightened around the screwdriver he had had in his hand when he had heard the news. The KA-BAR strapped to his belt would be a cleaner way to take out the thing, but there wasn’t time. In one fluid movement he plunged the screw driver into the zombie’s skull, shoving it backwards and back into the hall as he did so. The cacophony in the hallway made it hard to think and the mass of bodies made it hard to see. Still, Lucas found himself yelling Ro’s name as he stepped over the corpse of the thing had had just killed and pushed his way back into the fray of what felt like the faceless crowd, shouldering his way further into the mess. “Get out of my fucking way,” He growled at a twenty-something guy who stood frozen in the middle of the hallway. “Are you looking to die up here?” His words were abrupt as he grabbed the man by the shoulders and physically shoved him towards the exit and out of his way. |
