WHO: Team Medic! (AKA Cassidy and Tenley Stone, Judah Kaplan, and Travis Hawke)
WHERE: Out toward the Greenhouse & Stables
WHEN: Feb 20, 2015; afternoon
WHAT: Flooding has cause a massive landslide, people are injured and freaking out. Team Medic are working from makeshift conditions to treat everyone and prevent any added injuries from happening.
It had been raining long and hard enough the last few days the bottom floor of the hotel had taken water. The once over populated pool had over filled, flooding the pool house they'd turned into a makeshift quarantine. The preventative measures that had been taken had helped, but even they weren't enough in most areas. And still, the rain showed no signs of slowing down. Being set up inside, away from the buckets full of water being dumped on their heads would have been easier - even with water sloshing around their feet in the makeshift infirmary now. It was entirely too far away from the hustle and bustle though. Having to drag every injury all the way back to the hotel when most of them were happening closer to the greenhouse and stables would have taken too long, and would have taken at least one set of capable hands away from the task at hand. At least they'd been able to rig up a tarp, blocking at least the worst of the rain so they could move the worst of the injuries and actually see what they were doing. Things had been going relatively well, all things considered. Most of the injuries suffered had been minimal. A cut here, a scrape there - maybe a twisted ankle being the worst of it. Then all Hell had broken loose when a group of volunteers had been victim to a landslide. Mud and rocks had rushed down, taking out not only the first group but a second group working further down the path as well. So far it seemed like the buildings out this way weren't budging, but that was about it. Boulders shifted between the soft earth and rushing water, smaller trees seemed to sway as their roots lost some of the dirt holding them in place. All the while the rain kept whipping down on them. It was utter chaos and Cassidy kind of liked it. It sucked that people were getting hurt, obviously, but she liked the challenge. This was why she'd never pursued further education and become a real doctor, they didn't get to be in the thick of it. Spotting one of the others helping nearby, she called out. "Hey! Can you give me a hand with this?" Waving her hand to indicate the boulder that had found its way on top of the man she was examining's leg and pinned him down. "I'm trying to get a good look before I moved it, but the rain's making it impossible." |
