WHO: Judah and Nate
WHEN: January 22, 2015; middle of the day
WHERE: The military base
WHAT: objectives and information and stuff.
Of the guys willing to trek around the jungle with him, Nate was Judah's top choice. Not typical as it might see, because of issues the firefighter carried with him, but it could be some kind of kinship over shared experience, or Judah just flat out liked the guy, that made him choose Nate. Judah had watched the man be miserable on a small raft for over a week, he knew that the other guy wasn’t going to be stupid enough to put either one of them in danger. Their tag-along -some military kid, named Ty-, didn’t cause him any worry either.
Most of his jungle treks hadn’t taken him out much further than the old planes or the waterfalls. He’d been through to Haven a handful of times, but that had been a pretty straightforward trip every time he’d gone through. The jungle had proven some of the best places to climb when he needed to clear his head. The undead population were a little slower through the plants and overgrowth also, so easier to avoid.
The trip today wasn’t meant as any kind of serious mission, Judah was just looking for a couple new climbing spots. The ones that he had been using had become routine, so he wanted a new set of challenges. Figured that groups were safer than individuals too. They had cut from the fire station over towards the coast of the island. The natural growth wasn’t heavy because of the road, and what was probably foot traffic. About sixty-seventy yards in it became a mess of overgrowth though.
By the time they hit the concrete wall Judah was more than a little curious about what was in that area of the island. The concrete reminded him of walls that he’d seen on bases before, but they were high enough that he could only see the tops of buildings above the very top.
“What do you think?” Judah asked Nate and Ty, shifting the bag of climbing gear that he’d been hauling with them. “Weird, right?”
