First dates were scary as fuck. First date ever was even scarier. He'd been out with people before but this was different. This was a date. Not a word used often in his vocabulary. And it could potentially lead to something. Because, let's face it, despite what little Noel had talked to him, he really liked Ritchie. There was just something about the boy--and not just the great body or that he was great in bed--that made him smile and not a little bit fluttery.
After work that day, he'd gone home and showered, changed into a nice pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt, deciding to leave his hair down. He had puttered around the apartment, cleaned up. He'd gone for a walk after even music failed to calm his nerves.
Noel went into this knowing he was going to be nervous but he didn't expect it to be to this extent. He was nervous about quite a a few things. Not just because it was his first proper date, but because he liked him and wasn't really sure what to do with that. It was a new emotion, this affection. He shouldn't feel like this already should he? They'd only talked a few times.
And then there was this whole celibacy thing. He really wanted to attempt it. He knew Michael had bet him he couldn't and maybe--well, maybe he couldn't. But he'd like to try. He wondered if Ritchie would be okay with it. He certainly hoped so. It was just so difficult to finally articulate to himself just what he needed. It was intimacy. It took being with three people in three days to make him realize the emptiness in the life he'd been living. Music was fulfilling, his family supportive, but there was just something missing.
Now here he stood, sweater pulled around him. The wind off the Atlantic was cold. Fall was coming. He flicked his cigarette to the ground and leaned against the pitch. He hoped Ritchie'd get there soon so Noel wouldn't lose his nerve.
