Lucas was settling into life in Roswell slowly, but he was managing. It wasn't nearly as difficult for him as it was for some of the others, in large part because after everything he'd gone through back home? He had a very, very high tolerance for weird. He'd been part of a secret project working to halt an alien invasion, for the love of God. Being stuck somewhere after ending up there not of his own volition? Ranked somewhere below the alien invasion. He wasn't entirely sure what that said about him, but it said... something.
It also helped that Dr. Fenway was in town -- though it was admittedly more than a little strange not working with the man, after months of doing so. But the man's presence was a familiar one and made things a little easier to bear, as did the fact that he was only one floor away. Lucas had, admittedly, gone and bothered Fenway a few times; Nigel hadn't appreciated it, Lucas was pretty sure. All the same, they stuck together. They were the only ones from home, after all.
Lucas had become a bit of a loner, though, it'd been pretty easy to manage. He talked to people when they talked to him, of course, but he wasn't particularly looking to make friends. He'd never really been all that good at it, the joys of being a genius the way he was. He'd been far enough ahead of his classmates that it'd sent a great precedent for not getting along with, well, pretty much everyone. At least as an adult, he could get along with people even if he chose to avoid them.
Tonight, he was tucked away in a booth at the Crashdown, working his way through dinner while scribbling in a notebook. It wouldn't do him any good, but working on a design project kept his brain busy. He was an engineer to the core; if he didn't keep busy, he went squirrelly. Even moreso than usual.
