This community is a place for geek solidarity. Our mission is nothing short of Total World Domination. Topics of discussion will tend to focus on things that matter to geeks: geek literature, geek movies, geek TV, gaming, comics, science, science fiction, fantasy, astronomy, math, history, psychology, sociology, linguistics, etymology, weird links, Internet culture, geek websites, weird news, fanfic, famous geeks, and just about any other subject that is generally of interest to geeks. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment   |

| Greetings!
Today the first promotion for ubergeeks was posted to asylum_promo and new patients are beginning to trickle in. I'd like to start out by welcoming all of you who are committed to helping geeks everywhere achieve Total World Domination!
The ubergeeks asylum is intended to be a forum for discussion of geek-related topics, particularly geek culture. One thing I want to make clear right off the bat: this asylum is a censorship-free zone. Both ![[info]](https://www.insanejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) catness and myself are members of LiveJournal, and we both dislike the ominous changes which have taken place there over the years. We both realize that many, many IJ patients will also be antsy about censorship issues, and we understand these concerns. While ubergeeks is not primarily a community for sharing fanfiction, it is perfectly fine to post geeky fanfiction or original fiction here, especially if it has to do with scifi or fantasy subjects. Nonfiction is welcome too, particularly articles which are of general interest to geeks.
The only real rules in this community are to keep things on topic, to treat other patients in a civilized way, and to place NSFW posts behind a cut with a NSFW label. That's it. We are not the speech police, so if you feel like ranting about something, go right ahead, as long as it's not directed at other asylum members. The maintainers do reserve the right to remove OT posts, so if someone is posting goatse macros purely to be a jerk, we'll nip that in the bud. We also hate spam. We hope that everyone will feel comfortable enough to relax here and get on with the business of overthrowing world governments and conquering distant galaxies.

| What 'geeky' book are you reading now/last read?
