Yes... the Doctor would much rather not be shot in the head today. But things just kept getting more and more curious. Martha pregnant and apparently something else that they hadn't told him yet? A man in a WW2 bomber jacket delivering pizza? A new team member he clearly hadn't met... What had they been up to? Other than Martha and Jack and the obvious...
For his part, as he handed the pizza box to Gwen, Rob shot her a winning smile and a wink. "All part of the game, Gwen." It was just his personality. Not to mention that he respected the two ladies he worked with far too much to ever try something like that. Plus he figured that Gwen or Rhys would kick his ass. Which was a funny thought by itself but... focusing.
The Doctor took in the interactions and followed the Torchwooders to the conference room. Martha was taking it a little bit slowly, walking up front with Jack. She took a seat and sat back with a small smile, but it only lasted a moment before she got serious. What the hell was going on?
He declined the offered drink, "I think I'd like to hear what's going on first," being his excuse. Was this a good thing or a bad thing? His attention was drawn to Gwen for a moment as he nodded, taking out the Sonic Screwdriver. "Complete with blue box that can go anywhere or anywhen." And that was an idea. He wondered maybe he could get.. no that hadn't worked out so well last time. "She's parked on the Plass if you want to see."
Martha just shook her head. She knew better, no Torchwood members were allowed to get into Blue Boxes and disappear anymore... Rules were rules.
Jack started but didn't get into too much detail, but the more he heard the less he liked and his face fell more serious. "Every human that travels with me becomes a human plus, it's a side effect of time in the TARDIS But I don't see what-" And then he stopped. "Did you say Skrulls?"
The Doctor's eyes snapped from Jack to Gwen. "What about the Skrulls? They were here and no one contacted me? When did this happen? What happened?" Too many questions. They had brought him here for a problem but weren't telling him what was wrong with his doctor!
"They were here... Three years ago?" Martha of course remembered the exact date, but was trying hard not to show how much that incident had bothered her. Someone had taken over her life. How could it not? She'd gotten over it, three years was a long time, but still... not something she'd EVER want to repeat. "They started infiltrating, taking over people's lives, replacing them with themselves." She didn't remember or even know if Torchwood had tried to contact the Doctor. She had memory gaps and this was one of them.
This of course Rob had read about. He took a sip of his beer listening. Didn't take a genius to see the Doc didn't like that particular incident.
"I was one of the ones who got replaced... and a lot of damage happened to the Hub because of it." Ease the doctor into this right? "Jack found me in one of the ships in a medical bay hooked up to all kinds of machines."
