"No, don't shoot him!" Jack grinned and rolled his eyes. "Definitely a friendly shindig and someone I'll introduce you to properly in a bit. "But for now, I'm thinking we should take this into the boardroom so we can all sit down."
Gwen smiled at Robert and took the pizza boxes from him. "Careful, General. Keep flirting like that and Rhys will be after both you and Jack to stay away from me," she teased.
Jack motioned for Martha and the Doctor to follow him and he led the small group to the Torchwood boardroom. There was more room in there for everyone to sit comfortably as well as being close to the coffee machine and tea maker. "Want something to drink?" he offered as he cracked open beers for himself, Robert, and Gwen.
Gwen took a sip as she sat down, still highly curious about this Doctor of theirs. "So you're a Time Lord from Gallifrey?" she asked, remembering some of what she'd been told.
Jack handed Martha her rootbeer and waited to see if the Doctor wanted anything. "And yeah, we know what it's like in the TARDIS. Well... Martha and I know." He'd caught the little glare the Doctor had given him earlier about the pregnancy. "Besides just telling you about the baby though, there's more to it than that. And we need your help to try and figure it out. At first we thought it might be because of my being a fixed point, but it's not. It's partially due to Martha being a Human Plus."
"Wait... what exactly is Human Plus?" Gwen interrupted.
"It's her lymphocytes... they've mutated. Anyone who's traveled through the Time Vortex absorbs artron energy in the form of a background radiation. Artron energy alters and enhances human antibodies, making the immune system of the human in question better at fighting diseases. And that's basically Human Plus." Jack took a sip of his coffee and shrugged his shoulders.
"And then there was the incidents with the Skrulls," Gwen pointed out. "Could that have something to do with it too?" She looked over to Martha and arched her eyebrows.
