Who: Skrull!Martha (shhh its a secret) and Open (to Torchwood members) What: Skrull!Martha and the Torchwood Computer System (among other things) When: Late Evening September 1 - Early Morning September 2. Where: Torchwood 3 Hub, Cardiff Why: Because she has to know everything and report back to her queen.
The computer systems here were more complicated than she generally gave humans credit for. Created by one of her... she wasn't certain how to refer to this Martha Jones. This system had been created - the security anyway - by one of Jones' former colleagues, a Toshiko Sato, a woman who was dead. Whoever she was, under other circumstances it would have been next to impossible for her to hack... at least without the proper tools. It was an advantage to their queen's plan. With the originals tightly secure, she had an in. One that she could not give up. She would not give up. Her Queen was counting on her.
For the last several night 'Martha' had been busy. Staying late, checking files... anything that might be useful later on. She had once used the excuse that she was going over extra medical documents. It seemed that late nights were not unusual for Martha, and the Skrull wearing her skin was more than happy to take advantage of the situation. No one else was around as she scanned the documents with her head. This would take time. Lots of it. But fortunately time was one thing they had in abundance.
Making use of the information - which was HIGHLY CLASSIFIED - was only the first step in the full scale invasion. But no one knew about that yet. Her job was key, and she didn't care. She had to keep her eye on (and pretend to love)a man who for all intents and purposes was an oversized nymphomania-driven child. When this was over - she decided looking at the screen and memorizing part of the schematic. This would be useful. She just had to continue to make CERTAIN that no one caught on. Especially that Captain. He could yet be useful.
She was good at this. It was her job. And she'd kill anyone whp got in the way of her job.
Jack entered the Hub via the invisible lift, not expecting to see any of his team there. But when he caught sight of Martha working on one of the terminals, he smiled and quietly walked up behind her.
"So... tell me why you're looking at those files, which I know weren't part of your clearance," he asked, placing both hands firmly on Martha's shoulders.
The Skrull Jash had felt the approach, but to do anything to attempt and hide what she was doing would seem suspicious. She could not afford that. Everything she knew about the woman she was impersonating told her that this environment and - more importantly - the man this Martha Jones was in love with - were both extremely dangerous. It was child's play, really, she did not get to her position in the Queens' army by playing it safe. Still staying undetected was key, and when he finally got to her, and she heard the tone in his voice, she knew it was time to perform again.
On Martha's face a small smile formed as she turned around and wrapped her arms around Jack, leaning up to brush her lips against his in a greeting. Jash could do this. She had to. "I didn't realize you were still up. I looked around and didn't find you, so I thought you'd gone to bed." She smiled a bit before glancing at the screen to answer his question. And boy did she have a good one. "I was running a diagnostic on the Weevel we caught the other evening, but something went wrong with the system. I came out to run a diagnostic and in trying to get to the right files these opened up." she shrugged. It was a plausible story. It had happened before. And computers DID malfunction. "Personally I was surprised that my clearance allowed for these too, but I'm not about to argue." She smiled and decided to try changing the topic slightly. It was necessary. "So where were you?"
Jack slid his arms around her waist, still frowning slightly. Ever since they'd lost Tosh and Owen, the computer had been having issues. He thought that he and Ianto had fixed most of the bugs, but apparently there were more that he still needed to check.
"Looks like I'll have to run another system wide diagnostic and fix it." He sighed and leaned in to lightly brush his lips against hers.
"I was down in Butetown, checking on a possible Rift spike. But instead of it being anything interesting, it turned out to just be a piece of junk that the Rift spat out."
She was extatic! It had worked! He'd taken the story hook, line and sinker. She would have to report it. This Jack Harkness was thought to be an extreme threat to their mission. And he was easily swayed by this body. It was pathetic. A mission should be adhered to no matter the personal involvement. Suspicion was a must. But he was not following that. She could use it.
She smiled, leaning her head against the human's chest. "I hope it wasn't anything dangerous. You remember what happened the last time a piece of rubbish fell out of the Rift..." it had - according to Martha's mind - sent someone to the hospital. Not that Jash really cared in the least.
"So what are you going to do now? Head in? I was just finishing up. With the system acting up there isn't much more I can do tonight. I was thinking of heading home."
"No... it was literally trash this time."
When she mentioned home, Jack smiled and nodded. "I didn't really have any plans for the evening. But unless you're tired, a certain nightingale had suggested a movie night at her place," he reminded her.
"Stay up late, watch some films, eat popcorn... and I'll make you breakfast in bed?"
"That's odd..." she smirked a bit. "At least no one got hurt." As a doctor that would be her concern. "
The offer of human food truly made Jash slightly sick and made her wonder if this was worth it, simply to keep her cover. But she could not falter. She was in too far now. She would have to do it. And do it with a smile, lest they find anything was wrong. For her part in this, she would be rewarded when the time came.
She forced a smile on her face and shook her head. "Hmmm... Breakfast in bed? You make a very tempting offer there, Jack." Truly she had no knowledge of this 'film night' but if she said no... "Things are rather quiet, and it would be nice to just relax for a while." Looking up at him, with her stolen face, she could tell that he truly trusted this Martha. Something that she had known but had not completely internalized. It made things that much sweeter. "No more work for the night." She grinned. This was pathetic.
"No more work," he agreed. He smiled and nodded, motioning for her to grab her things.
"You want to drive, me, or take two vehicles?" Jack asked.
Martha Jones' things consisted of a bag containing her medical supplies and a purse - the contents of which that more often than not was thrown into a backpack, like today. The bag was sitting no more than a few meters away, evidence to the fact that she had been expecting to leave soon. This was supposed to be no more than an information grab and dash. But being caught changed things. She didn't explain it, walking over to get the bag, she took bit of time to go through it, to make as if she'd just left it there earlier.
"Well if you plan on staying the night," she managed a grin, "I can't very well see us taking two cars... it depends, I suppose, on if we're to arrive separately tomorrow." And it did. So far she was aware that her template and her gigolo had not told those they worked with. Information and items she had taken told her as such. She collected the things and prepared to leave with him. "So long as we get there, I don't think it really matters all that much." She made it seem as if she just wanted to get out of there. With him.
Jack considered it for a moment, watching as she gathered her things. "You drive," he finally said. "So long as we're here bright and early in the morning, it won't matter. And the SUV's too noticeable anyways. Be right back."
Jack disappeared up to his office and climbed down the ladder into his quarters. He grabbed a couple of items, shoved them into a small back, and pulled it over his shoulder.
"Ready," he called out. "So... what do you think about watching Gladiator tonight?" he asked.
She was left alone in the main area of the hub for several moments, and took it to log off the system. They wouldn't know that anything had been done. The things she did to protect herself and her cover. This evening would be... interesting. Everything up to this point had been planned out to the letter. But this? This?! Nothing in this was planned. She would have to wing it.
She kept herself from jumping back around when he called out to her. She moved to join him, shutting off the monitor. The next person would just turn it back on. It was thus time to go and she grabbed the keys from her pocket walking over to him, following him, Jack would choose which exit.
This particular film she had no information on. For whatever reason. "Gladiator?" It sounded like a pox to Jash but if it kept this man happy who was she to say no. "Well if you want to, I don't really have a preference tonight." She wanted to put this off as much as possible but she couldn't do it. Not without raising suspicion. She shrugged. Her template would never have watched a slasher horror film, however it appeared she could be talked into it.
Jack smiled and offered Martha his arm, giving her a wink and leading her towards the invisible lift. "Come on... we'll take the short cut and then walk over to your car."
He was surprised she'd finally given in and agreed to watch Gladiator. Normally whenever he suggested it, she just rolled her eyes and made a crack about him wanting to ogle the men.
This odd lift had been the first thing she had taken the schematics to. It was fascinating and she knew how it worked, but still the way it was done. Despite this fascination something was wrong and she knew it. The Captain had stiffened slightly as the lift started to go up, and that was her indication. Had she done something?
If nothing else he was taller than her and she used that to her advantage, looking up at him almost questioningly as she smiled. "What? Was it something I said?"
"Hmm? No..." Jack shook his head and flashed her a smile. "Was just thinking about something, that's all. Don't worry about it."
He waved a hand, trying to dismiss it. It wasn't anything anyways... maybe Martha had just decided to be nice and let him watch it. Or she was tired and just didn't care what they watched.
It wasn't really enough to convince her, but she decided to do a bit more covering. It was clear that she had chosen the wrong answer, but if nothing else she could try and make it sound better. "I just didn't think that you'd be so surprised," Jash added, digging out the car keys. "You've been asking about it so much that I thought I wouldn't object."
She pressed the button unlocking the car and gave him a smile. "I thought you'd be happy if not pleasantly surprised." The grin was playful, it should have been enough to get him off of her case and into the car. But she knew this Captain now, he was craft and there was no way of telling... unless he was being a leture...
Jack climbed into the passenger seat and pulled on his belt. "I am surprised. Like I said, don't worry about it."
He flashed Martha that trademark Harkness grin and winked at her. "Take me home, Nightingale," he said. "For tonight, I'm all yours. And pizza's on me... you paid last time we had dinner together."
While her template would have loved the idea that this man was hers, the idea truly did not appeal to Jash. But she would do everything that she had to do in order to keep her cover. This woman loved this man, and she knew this when she'd taken the assignment. And she would do it! No matter what it was.
Thus she managed a slightly wicked smile back before buckling in and starting the car. "Mmm sounds like a very full evening. I hope that this film is worth the hype you've given it," she smirked as she pulled out of her space.
It was dark out now, evening having fallen and Jash carefully navigated the streets of Cardiff. It was easier during the day, she could take the curves fast, but now.... Well she couldn't take it as quickly and tried to distract him with some conversation. "So dinner and breakfast? You're really outdoing yourself, Captain," and it would work. "I feel so special." With any luck it would take attention away from the change in her turns. "Now if only I could come up with a reason as to why you'd be acting so nice..."
They were almost there - when Martha Jones had moved to Cardiff Jack had helped her find an apartment, purposely close to the Hub.
Jack had pulled out his cell phone and dialed the number for Jubilee Pizza as she drove. He’d noticed the change in her driving, but said nothing. Something wasn't right here. He couldn't put his finger on it yet, but something was off.
"You are special," he replied with a grin. But when Martha made the comment about why he was being so nice, he arched an eyebrow. Instead of replying though, he held up a finger and pretended to be occupied with the phone. "Yeah... I need a large Meat Feast... for delivery..."
He gave the girl the address (which was already in the computer system), hung up, the closed his phone and pocketed it. "I'm always nice... since when do I need a reason?" he finally asked.
Jack frowned slightly and turned to look out the window. First agreeing to the movie, then the driving, and now this. Something was going on.
They got to a straight stretch of road and Jash sped up a bit. "Oh I don’t know. It’s not every day that someone like you makes breakfast in bed for me. In fact I can't remember the last time I had it." she smiled at him and pulled the car into a space.
Pulling the keys out of the ignition, the Skrull leaned over and kissed him, if nothing else this would distract him. Her hands cupping either side of his face, she did this - not having done it for most of the week, as there were always others about - and didn't let go for several moments, deepening the kiss. When she broke it, she smiled. "Mmm missed that." It made her nauseous, but it would keep the Captain happy.
"Missed that too," he admitted, breaking into a grin as he unbuckled his belt.
"Keeping this a secret is a pain in the ass sometimes. And as horrible as it sounds, we really don't need to consider the real Ianto is missing."
Jack knew the Ianto they had was real, but it wasn't his Ianto. And he resented it. It might not be fair to take it out on the other young man (and he tried not to), but he didn't plan on getting too close to him. At least not in that way. It hurt too damn much to look at the young man because he kept worrying about where his own Ianto was and if he was safe.
"I don't know. Gwen would probably give me an earful about it. But part of me doesn't care. I didn't expect you and I to happen, but I'm damn glad it has."
Jash didn't really care one way or another, but she knew how her template would react. And that being the case she had to act accordingly.
Moving back slightly she smiled at him. "I don't think you can ever expect something like this, Jack." it was true too. He had no way of knowing he was next to an alien. One that would NOT be revealing herself anytime soon. No. Not yet.
She reached over and grabbed his hand, squeezing it. "Wherever Ianto is, I'm certain that he's fine." she knew that he needed to hear it. Even if he didn't know he needed to hear it Martha Jones did, thus Jash did. She had access to her memories. She brushed the padd of her thumb against the skin on the the back of his. "I know," she whispered. She love this man, but he had to understand. "He is still our Ianto," she added after a moment, squeezed his hand more. "He's just time locked." She wasn't standing up for the man, but still, she knew that after Ianto he had trouble.
Jash hated to say this but the template was insisting. "I love you Jack..."
"He's not our Ianto," Jack replied with a little more force than he meant to. "He's a Ianto, yeah. But not ours. It's..."
Jack sighed in frustration and pinched the bridge of his nose. "It's complicated. Time travel always is, but you know that."
He froze though, hearing those four little words from her. Jack turned and looked at Martha, a slightly stunned expression on his face. He cared about her a lot, even loved her. But whenever someone said it to him, things got complicated. Problems happened.
It'd be different this time though. She knew he couldn't age, couldn't die, and that he was going to outlive her. But then again, so had some of the others... like Lucia. And that had ended badly.
Instead of replying back, Jack nodded and leaned in, kissing her firmly on the lips. He'd never even told Ianto that he loved him. And despite how he felt about Ianto and Martha both, he wasn't ready to say it out loud. Not to either of them.
"What's not to love?" he joked, breaking the tension and flashing that grin of his. "Come on... pizza should be here soon."
He was shocked and stunned, and the words had had their desired effect. Anything and everything else that came before it would be swept out of mind by this sudden realization. And if she was lucky it might cause some problems as well. It would keep him in confusion, especially for a man as fearful as Jack Harkness. And he was a fearful man, he would not let it show, but it was in his profile. Outliving everyone he knew... It did things to a man. Very interesting things to both him and his way of thinking. An idea struck her. She was not having fun with this assignment. While she couldn't rock the boat TOO much, she could certainly make things easier on herself...
She returned the kiss; already knowing that the words had had their complete effect and the Captain had gone into joking to cover up what he felt was awkwardness. Humans were so simple. Ruled by emotions and unable to separate themselves from them...
And it had the perfect effect. She smiled and followed, opening the door and stepping out of the car, remembering to take the purse with her. She waited for him on the curb. Now it was time to smooth it over a bit. Definitely. Mind games were her specialty. it took down the target. With him, it was just a matter of being very careful.
Jash smiled holding a hand out. "I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to this," she grinned. To Martha breakfast in bed would have just been an extra perk. She would have said yes either way. And would have looked forward to the cuddling and ... other things that came with spending time with Jack. Jash however would bear through it. Whatever it was. She had to. And if she could destroy the Captain (along with Torchwood) in the process? all the better.
She started walking towards her building, keys out, taking the time to take several glances at Jack. She was very good at what she did.
"Yeah... me too," he replied, taking hold of her hand and walking with Martha. He let go and shoved his hands back into his pockets as she unlocked the door, still caught off guard at her sudden declaration of love.
Jash pushed the door open. The flat was... a bit messy. She had to admit that she was becoming a bit more human as the days went on - not intentionally, but she was picking up habits from her template. And that included the occasional alarm clock snafu. There was a bowl from breakfast still on the table, and the Skrull remembered to at least look a bit abashed about the state of her flat. The living room area was clean enough, a rather large comforter thrown over the arm of the couch that he'd helped her find when she'd been rescued from UNIT.
He was playing a bit standoffish and that suited her purposes perfectly. Turning around she smiled, closing the door. "So, go on. Make y'self at home." She unzipped her jacket and stretched. "How long do we have till the food arrives? I think I want to change." She didn't offer him something to drink because Jash knew (through Martha prime) that he would just go digging in her icebox.
Jack shrugged off his greatcoat and draped it over the back of the couch. He checked his watch and replied, "Probably about 15 minutes or so? They're usually pretty quick since we're not too far from the Plass."
He wandered into the kitchen and pulled a bottle of water out for himself and called out, "Want something to drink while I'm in here?"
Fifteen minutes was more than enough time. There was a computer in the bedroom wherein she could store all of the data she had just collected and send it forward at a later time, properly encrypted. She could do the rest later after the Captain dropped off to sleep.
With a small smirk Jash looked over her shoulder. "Something from the kitchen? No, just you. But that will have to wait." She smiled before peeling off the top layer of her clothing, leaving her camisole visible. "You make yourself comfortable," she said smiling at him over her shoulder. "I'll be right. Back." she emphasized each word. Let no one say that mind games and cheekiness did not go hand in hand! She would be told that she was having a bit too much fun with that part of her assignment. And Jash would not deny it.
Jack arched an eyebrow as he unscrewed the top of his bottle. He took a sip and smirked, having absolutely no intention of just waiting out in the living room. And he was loving this flirty side to her.
"How about I help you slip into something more comfortable?" he suggested, heading directly towards her bedroom.
It was then that she saw the backfire that she'd caused. It wasn't really a big deal, but he was following her into the bedroom, which meant no time for the upload. But to say no would arouse suspicion instead of arousing....er... other things that the Captain would likely have on his mind later on. There was no way to say no.
Instead, Jash turned around with a sly smile before going into the room ahead of him and waiting behind her door, saying, "Well I can't really turn down an offer like that." And if they had 15 minutes there was little chance that she would have to perform human reproduction at that moment. She knew what to do from her template's mind, and how, but it still was something she would do for her mission and no other reason.
Jack was still grinning as he pushed the door open. He slowly stalked across the room, a seductive smile playing at the corners of his lips as. Leaning in close, he smiled and placed his hands on her hips, nipping playfully at her ear.
"Didn't think you could..."
It would only be fifteen minutes - give or take. And in that time she would do what she had to. The idea of having relations with this... ugly creature did not appeal to her, but she would do what she had to.
Jash played along. She wrapped her human-looking arms around him and smiled, eye closed as he nipped at her ear, exhaling slowly. She had her template's memories, and used them. She had to. She was leaning back against the wall and felt trapped there, calming herself remembering that his was part of the human experience. She stayed in form. "Mmm," she licked her lips. "Well it’s such a tempting one...." She ran a hand through his hair. "Especially after such a hard day..." the ending trailed off what she was going to say being 'when all one wanted to do was relax' but she kept thinking that in fifteen minutes this would be complete and interrupted. Humans and their easily distracted ways.
"So if it's tempting, then I say go for it."
And he did.
Jack smirked and began trailing light kisses down the side of her neck, beginning to peel away the layers of clothing. It wasn't necessarily that he wanted sex right now, but he did love having his hands on Martha's body. Besides... Jack was a very tactile person. And at the moment, you couldn't get more tactile than this.
First went the over shirt, then she found herself lifting the disguised arms up to assist in the removal of the camisole. Human skin was strange. It was plyable and elastic instead of having a lizard-like solidness to it. And when someone touched it it caused odd things to happen along the rest of it.
Jash allowed the man access to her neck, knowing that her template would have done the same, and made it out that she was enjoying it, running a hand through his hair. She moved to kiss him after several moments, with a smile. What was certain, she could fake this. She had the memories and experiences. She shoved her hand into one of his back pockets looking at him with a smile. "You really are insatiable, Captain." Whether it was sex or touch or fooling about, he didn't seem to be able to help himself. One of the things her template found somewhat fascinating but Jash found simply puzzling.
"Can't help it," he murmured, nipping playfully at her bare shoulder. "I'm just a very hands on kind of guy and I know what I like."
He continued helping Martha out of her clothing, resisting the urge to just scoop her up and toss her onto the bed. But food was on the way, so he'd have to wait for later. But the Captain knew if they kept up at this pace, the delivery boy from Jubilee pizza was going to end up waiting a long time.
So he reluctantly stepped back, but not before giving her bum a little pinch. Jack winked and jerked a thumb towards her dresser. "Go on, sexy. Get something else on before I change my mind."
She pretended to like it. His hands worked, stripping her out of the clothing she had chosen for the day, leaving Jash exposed and nearly nude in front of him. And the look he was giving her... If she'd been attracted to this... earthling? Though admittedly she was not certain that he counted as one anymore given his unique physiology, she would have likey easily given in to him.
Jash put a look of feigned shock on her face as he pinched her rear and smirked before waving him off playfully and moving to the dresser. She had to think about what Martha Jones would wear for something like this. There would be time for unloading the drive later in the evening. She could set it up and allow the computer to uplink it on its own.
The Skrull-in-human-form decided on a pair of blue cotton pajama bottoms and a fitted t-shirt from her template's alma matter. It was comfortable, and this was her apartment. Perhaps it would ward off the Captain's advances. She turned to him and did a little turn with a smile. "You are showing remarkable self control this evening," She said with a small grin. It was something her template would say. She would play her part to a T. She walked over to him, switching the bedroom light off.
"I just figured that we'd have plenty of time for that later. Besides... the night is young, pizza's on the way, and it's supposed to be movie night."
Jack grinned though, eyes roaming over her body and choice of outfit. "Very cute... and you know I like blue," he said, sliding an arm around her waist.
Before they left the room though, he lowered his braces and unbuttoned his dark navy shirt. Jack pulled his arms free of it and tossed it onto Martha's bed, leaving him in his white t-shirt.
"Come on, gorgeous."
The Captain was nothing if not consistent. And to an extent rather predictable. He would not give the female he thought to be Martha time on her own, not when they were supposed to be spending together. It showed - Jash realized - a craving for human/humanoid (given what she knew about him from her template) contact that took the form of sex. Proving him to have a need that was not fulfilled, possibly from traumatic experiences early in life. Humans were strange creatures.
"All very true, and you should be excited, you get to watch what you want for a change," Jash imitated Martha's teasing, covering for the earlier possible slip. "And you never know. You might find yourself getting into a compromising position later." She smirked. A quiet night at home was something her template liked. Immensely.
He pulled her closer and she acquiesced, putting an arm around him. She glanced at the shirt on the bed and grinned. "Well I never would have guessed," of course her template knew his color choices, look at his clothes. She lead him out of the bedroom and back into the living room where the couch and the films were waiting. She grinned as they approached it, and she pushed him onto the sofa with an innocent look. Someone still had to get the film, but she looked down at him triumphantly. Jash at least could do that.
Jack laughed as he fell backwards, grinning up at Martha and tucking an arm beneath his head. "I'm sort of counting on us ending up in that position," he replied with a cheeky grin.
He opened his mouth to say something else, but paused as he heard the doorbell. "Pizza," he said, shifting a little so he could reach his wallet. Jack pulled out 20 quid and handed it to Martha, then tucked it back away.
"My treat, remember?"
If he was counting on it, Jash wondered if she had any more of that chemical agent left, the one that would knock him out... She would have to check... somehow. Though he would likely act poorly if he saw a syringe. Despite this she gave him a smile and a wink. "We'll just see what happens, now won't we." Flirtatious as ever.
She almost got to respond but the buzzer cut her off and Jack went for the money and she took it. "You're sweet," she winked at him and moved to let the delivery man in. This food she did not really mind it was palatable... mostly. She exchanged the money for the box that was offered and shut the door behind her. Placing the food on the table in front of the couch she looked over at Jack who seemed to be lounging. "Well someone is comfortable." She smiled and moved to put the specified movie into the playing apparatus before moving to sit on the couch herself. She knew nothing of this film other than what her template did. And apparently the Captain truly enjoyed it for the scenes of sweaty men.
Jack flashed her a grin and nodded. He sat up a little and leaned forward, getting a slice of pizza for himself. "Around you? It's hard not to be comfortable."
He took a bite of the pizza and leaned back, draping an arm around Martha's shoulders so she could snuggle in beside him. "Before you rejoined the team, things were... difficult. We were all devastated by the loss of Tosh and Owen and reacted in different ways. So you coming in and bringing back some sunshine and cheer... we needed it. I needed it."
Well that was certainly not something she had expected to hear. The skrull was currently not hungry for human food, so she just did her part. She snuggled against the Captain and let her eyes fall sadly at the mention of the fallen comrades. It was a sad event. For the Template.
"I miss them," she said softly. Not true at all. She moved slightly and tried to smile. But failed. It was all in the game. She put a hand to his cheek and tried to act comforting like the template would. An invader could not feel bad for the pestilence that was on the planet rightfully theirs.
"I know you do," he replied softly. Jack let his fingers idly drift up and down her arm. He quietly ate his piece of pizza, then glanced down at Martha and smiled faintly.
"I appreciate it, you know... you coming back to Torchwood. And not just because I missed you."
"You needed me," she said quietly. "The team needed me... I couldn't just turn my back. And let's face it, Jack, you helped me out of a real bind." She snuggled against him. "What was I going to say? No?"
She sighed. This was easier to pull off than Jash ever thought possible. "The lot of you are more of a family than Unit ever was," she said closing her eyes. It was something that she only sometimes allowed people to see - the template - the real disappointment and hurt that the military organization had put into her. After their experimentation and treating her like a test subject. "I needed to come back..."
"That's because UNIT isn't a family... it's a military organization," Jack replied. He tenderly kissed the top of Martha's head and snuggled her close.
"I'm glad you did though... come back I mean."
"Unit is too big to be a family," she said. "And they don't have that personal touch that I've always seen with your Torchwood." She knew that he could take that term a lot of different ways. But that was this captain for you...
Jash snuggled against the wayward captain and smiled. "I should have done it sooner," she admitted.
"Well... you can't change the past. Not without the Doctor getting on your back, or Reapers showing up," he joked.
Jack kissed the top of Martha's head and sighed as she snuggled close to him. He'd always cared about her. They had been through things together that most people could never comprehend. The two of them had spent a year in hell, which nearly no one else on Earth knew ever happened. They had saved the Earth twice, battled Daleks, faced down the Master, and always managed to help each other come through it alive.
But since she returned full time to Torchwood, Jack had found himself becoming even closer to the young Doctor. Closer than he thought possible.
The template had heard stories of the reapers. And they were not pleasant things, even by Skrull standards. "They would undo everything," she frowned, getting more comfortable. "We've changed the past once, but I think that was more of a one-time happening..." Martha would hope so anyway, Jash didn't care. This planet would soon be theirs. And then she could have him to experiment on or whatever she wanted. Yes. The undying man would be her reward. She made a note to speak to the queen. It would please her.
The affection did not go unnoticed. It would be easy to keep him wrapped around her finger. The history between the two continued to be the prime reason this infiltration had been so perfect. He was blind to the more subtle changes she was sure she was putting forward. But with the way he acted? Yes. She knew.
The remote control was sitting at her side and she smiled slightly as she decided to leave it there. A change in the mood was not on the schedule. Not yet. She needed for him to stay lulled in this security. "I'm not going anywhere," The words sounded perfect. Just what he'd want to hear. "B'sides, you'd be lost without me." She said it quietly. Not jokingly, just the truth.
He was a rather simple man, as it went. And yet extremely complex. She wondered if it was part of her template's obvious attraction.
Jack lightly stroked his fingers up and down along Martha's arm as he listened. He reached for another slice of pizza and took a bite, watching the movie for a moment and not saying anything. When she said that she wasn't going anywhere, Jack broke into a smile.
And in response to her teasing, he laughed and shrugged his shoulders. "Maybe I would, maybe I wouldn't," he said. "But if nothing else, at least I got over my shyness," he teased, remembering the joke Martha had made when she had worked with his team for the first time.
"Admit it... you missed me. And I bet ever since you kissed me when you were leaving, you wanted to do it again. You just couldn't resist me."
She wasn't sure if she was supposed to understand what he was saying... the shyness comment had come a bit out of nowhere, but she smiled and winked at him, hoping that that was the right response. At least something vague would be acceptable. Paired with the fact that her finger moved down his cheek, he would be distracted enough to not notice when she smirked and said, rather cheekily, "Yes, I suppose you did." Thought that must have been it, because Jack Harkness was never one to seem shy.
At his accusation, despite how amusing it might have been, Jash smirked and raised an eyebrow. "Well I doubt that anyone could resist you for long, Captain." She put special emphasis on his title, smiling mysteriously. "But I think revealing something like that might inflate your ego a bit too much..." she paused grinning. "Amazing snog thought." Thought it hadn't - according to the memory REALLY been one. But he was very good at it.
When she didn't seem to understand the reference, Jack felt extremely puzzled. His expression didn't show it however, but he tucked the information away. For a while now, Jack had been noticing small changes in Martha's personality and behavior. It could've been caused by anything. So for now, he just made mental notes and filed them away until he had enough pieces to put the puzzle together.
"I wouldn't really call it a snog," he replied, flashing her a cheeky grin. "But this is..."
Jack quickly leaned in and captured her lips with his own, starting gently at first, but deepening it and gently pulling her body close against his own.
He kissed her and Jash didn't have any choice but to respond the way her template would have. She could at least try to enjoy this under the heading of a human cultural exchange. If their queen could do this, so could she. And it would be... interesting.
...no. It wouldn't. But she'd do it anyway. And she did. She let him lead, taking a bit of initiative of her own, in moving one of her hands into his hair and the other around his shoulder from the bottom. It wasn't that it was unpleasant, it was just that the man was not all that attractive. Yes there were some very intriguing qualities, but she wished to study him not copulate. But she would. It was key to her mission. Fit in. Be undetected. Do whatever it took.
Jack smiled against her lips, liking the way Martha seemed to be taking things father than he anticipated. Alright... if the good Doctor doesn't want to watch the movie, that's fine with me.
He snugged Martha's body close against his, wrapping an arm firmly around her waist.
She let a little whimper against his lips, holding him tighter. He was enjoying himself. That was enough.
Martha/Jash broke the kiss smiling up at him. "And here I thought you wanted to spend the night gazing at the big burly blokes," She smirked, running a hand through his hair. If he was happy he wouldn't notice anything else. The pizza was sitting on the table largely untouched. If she had to do this? Then so be it.
"That's what I thought we were going to do, until you escalated that kiss of ours," He replied with a smirk.
Jack caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers, closing his eyes for a moment as her fingers carded his hair. "But if you want to watch the movie first, I don't mind us holding off on dessert for a bit."
She flushed slightly. Knowing that the other her might have. That smirk did have that effect on Martha Jones, and no matter how repulsive Jash thought the captain she had to play the part. "Well you know what they say," She said with a small smile. "Good things come to those who wait." Yes she knew what she was getting herself into, but with any luck she'd be able to slip him the drugs and not do anything. But not yet... the syringe was ready when the time came.
Also it was a tease for the Captain. She'd have her time soon. She could use it as a way to get her own work done if he were distracted. Smiling over at him she handed him the remote. "So, do you want to do the honours?" she snuggled closer into him, as if she were happy to be there.
Taking the remote from her hand, Jack smiled and saluted her with it. "Yes Ma'am!"
He pressed the button to start the movie, snagged himself a slice of pizza, and settled onto the couch with Martha. Jack nuzzled her for a moment, then took a bite of his pizza.
Well he certainly seemed happy. She chuckled at the salute, smirking. "You remember what I said my first day at Torchwood," she remembered this from the template's memories. "Everything I say." She didn't tell him to stop the saluting this time. He was getting settled in. A good sign. When humans settled in it meant they were comfortable. And they would let their guard down.
Jash herself got comfortable, or as comfortable as she could in this form, and kept herself close to him, pretending to enjoy the intimate moments. She needed to get him into a lull where he wouldn't think it odd that she had to do something. Also she wished to know what the appeal of this film was. She did not understand it. Soon she would go and use the computer in the bedroom. The files would be uploaded and that part of her mission would be done. Until the next time she hacked the system. "This is such a you film," She said with a small smile. And it was, from what she knew. Men all sweaty and fighting. She did not appreciate it and did not want to know if her template did. It was unimportant.
"Sometimes I wonder if I might be better off if I didn't have such a good memory," he mused. Jack finished his slice of pizza and smiled softly as he looked over at Martha.
"But considering the life I lead, memories are important to me. It keeps me going when things seem the bleakest."
