Wade raised an eyebrow at Gwen's question. She'd read her a few stories from the notebook, hadn't she? She was about to answer but something else caught Gwen's attention and Wade realized that she'd never actually explained in the stories what it was or how it worked. Yes there were allusions to it, a small device that let them travel from world to world, but if she was going to be here she wasn't going to give anyone too clear an idea of how to go Sliding. If they wanted it they'd have to figure it out themselves.
Rob looked over Gwen's shoulder, curious about the photo. He followed as far as the photo was concerned the man and the woman, but the big eared guy? "That's not the doctor," he said with a chuckle. "He looks completely different!"
That was one thing that Wade would never understand, the year differences... stupid worlds that spun quicker. "The Captain in jeans and a bad haircut?" Wade let out a laugh. "I don't believe it!"
Rob turned the photo so his employee could see and she glanced down at it. And her eyes widened. But she wasn't focusing on the woman or the Captain or the man. Her eyes were on the big-eared man in the jacket. Her smile faded slowly and her grip on the bar tightened. No... this wasn't happening. It was him. Clothing and all. Yes she knew about duplicates but she'd looked! And he hadn't had one! Not here.
Wade looked up, from Jack to the Colonel to Gwen. If Jack was with him then... Her breathing got a bit more labored and she dropped the photo on the bar shaking her head. "No... I'm not going back." She needed to get out of here. If he was there with Sigma then did Jack know? Were they working together? Was all of this just another Kromagg trick?!
No! She'd come too far to get caught now! In a panic she started running. She dashed from behind the bar, knocking her notebook over and ran out the backdoor. She could hear Jim yelling behind her confused as to what was up as she nearly knocked him over. She needed out the backdoor and was gone. Not even stopping when the Colonel's voice rang out after her...
