Painting the room had been... interesting. She has splattered him with more handprints than he may have deserved but he'd then gotten her right back. It had been fun. But it wasn't something she wanted to repeat either... maybe when the baby was older and could help. Three would finish it faster than two!
She chuckled when he saluted with the screwdriver. "Great-great-great granddad built it, or so they've always told us. He was a carpenter back in Ghana and when his son immigrated he brought it with him. They didn't have a lot back then, so it just got passed around from branch family to branch family. I think this one has been used by more of us - and fixed - more times than anything else any of us has." She ran her fingers over the top of the railing that was now sitting next to her on the carpet. "When Leo started getting the room ready for my niece he wanted to buy a new one... everyone started yelling about it," she let out a laugh. "Guess it sort of fits, doesn't it? Given what we've done? Having something with a lot of history?"
She put a hand on her stomach... He was kicking again. "Think he likes the idea too." Of course it was really an unintentional spasm in the baby's legs but... yeah.
