She knew it stung and the moment after she said it ... she wished she could have taken it back. But, she was hurting. "Cards," she agreed and continued to eat. The ham on her dish was cut into small piece, very small ... she was actually mostly playing with it.
She occasionally looked up at him, looking him over when he wasn't looking at her -- almost as if they were trading long stares. Sure enough her ladies knew she was staring at him.
"It's good," her answer was short because she didn't care much for the food -- she was drinking plenty of the wine sent with them, though. "The wine is lovely," she said as she brought her glass up so it could be filled by one of her ladies.
