Juliet looked at her radiophone and sighed. She had planned on going to the farm settlement that morning, which would have taken her back up to Crossroads anyway, but as she started up the road, tucking her phone into her pocket, she had a feeling she might not get there. Not that it mattered too much, as Jake and Neytiri had found a heap more fresh fruit and edible plants, and Micha had found the storm shelter cave the day before, packed full of supplies. There was always tomorrow. Or the next day.

As she finally topped the eastern edge of the caldera she glanced south, wondering what Jake and Neytiri would be finding, now that they had their ikran. She grinned to herself and walked over the final rise, rounding the bend the track, as it was at this point, took through the boulders, then paused again as she looked down across the huge bowl. The air was so clear she could see the tiny figure swimming, and was a little relieved Annie was still there.

It was a relatively easy run, covering the distance across the floor of the crater to the buildings. Juliet stuck her head inside the door of the round building where the rings were housed, and couldn't see anyone. She closed the door and walked around to the white sandy beach that ran along the edge of the lake.

"Hi there," she called out, waving to the girl out in the water.

There wasn't much that was better than swimming. It was relaxing, and hidden under the water it was quiet and peaceful and she could hide from all the screaming that always seemed to come from all directions and attack her when she least expected it. She could stay in the water all day just floating and relaxing, or on the beach, like she and Finnick used to when they were back home in District 4.

When she heard the girl calling for her, she tensed and froze, fighting her immediate reaction to slip under the water and hide from her. Who was she? Was she one of the people she'd talked to earlier? She didn't know and it scared her. Everything scared her. Most things anyway. Why did people have to be so loud?

But instead of hiding, she awkwardly raised a hand and forced a smile.

"Hi" she said, too quiet for her to hear as she came out of the water, wrapping herself in a towel. "Hi."

	Juliet had sat down on the sand when she'd seen the young girl start to swim back looking away as the girl had made her way over and picked up the towel that was lying there, turning back when she spoke. "Hi there," she replied, having remembered the conversation and how weird it had been. "I'm Juliet, and I'm gonna guess that you're Annie?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"I'm Annie. Annie Cresta.

No. It's Annie Odair now. I just got married. Yesterday afternoon. I wore a green dress and Peeta made a cake with dolphins and shells on it and there was dancing and then Finnick and I went back to our room..."

She smiled a little, knowingly. It had been a lovely day all together.

But now...she was here. And it was strange and scary. She cocked her head slightly to look at the girl.

"Finnick and I are going to try to have a baby since nobody's going to try to kill it now, I don't want my baby killed by the Capitol and we're both victors so they'd probably like it to have the baby in the Games too and no,nononono, we don't want that but it isn't going to happen now."

Juliet listened, nodding a little as the young girl talked. Married, and going to have a baby, but someone wants to put it in a game? Where the hell has she come from?

"Uh, well there's no games here. And no Capitol, and right now? Pretty much only a few people," she said, getting to her feet and brushing her hands against her thighs to remove the sand. "I'm sorry your husband isn't here, that I know of. Finnick is it?"

That brought a smile to her lips.

"Finnick. That's right, Finnick. He's beautiful. And kind. And gentle. He mentored me when I got reaped and I made it, even though nobody thought I would. He took care of me and we went to the cove in 4 and talked and swam and I love him very much."

She wrung her hands together, shivering a little.

"I don't know what to do without him. I'm scared."

"Then he's a lucky man!" Juliet nodded, still completely lost as to what the girl was talking about. "But there's no need to be scared," she continued, glad she hadn't brought any obvious weapons with her, jerking her head toward the bunkhouse, which she figured Annie had already discovered, given the towel she was using. "Why don't we go over there and you can get warm and dry before we head down to the beach," she suggested, shoving her hands in her jeans' pockets.

	Annie nodded, and followed the girl back to the bunkhouse. She'd been in there to find a towel, but it would be good to put her dress back on. It was colder here than in District 4. "I don't understand where I am." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"Join the club!" Juliet laughed. She indicated where the communal bathrooms was that she and Micha had discovered when they'd explored a few days before. "We came here a couple of days ago, from somewhere else completely. No idea how, or why. It's pretty big though, and we haven't even seen half of it." 	Annie nodded, and went into the room to get dressed, putting on the flowy blue beach dress, but leaving off all shoes. She liked being barefoot. Then she went back out to Juliet, smiling a little. "Will Finnick be able to find us there?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"Let's hope so!" Juliet said, not willing to lie, either way. She started across the road, back to the round building where the rings were. "All I know is that when you find a place to stay, in one of the places down there, all your things show up from wherever you were." She shrugged a shoulder. "At least they have for those of us who've arrived so far," she added. "Even Jake and Neytiri's ikran showed up," she added, "a day after they did, but still, they're here now!" Out of habit, still, she looked both ways as they crossed the road, silently laughing at herself, and for a brief moment wondering what had happened with Connor. She made a mental note to give him a call on the radio once she had settled Annie in down at the beach.

"I don't really have any things," she said, fidgeting a little. "Not since the Capitol took me and tortured me and then they rescued me from them and took me back to Finnick. I don't need things, I just need him."

She couldn't seem to stop wringing her hands as she looked at the woman. She was confused, and scared, and more than anything she just wanted Finnick to show up and hug her and tell her everything was going to be okay.

	As they were crossing the road the radio crackled with a call from Connor. Juliet laughed as she pulled the unit from her back pocket and replied. (Reply to this) (Parent)
