Job Hunting (Flashback, Lois)
Who: Clark Kent and Lois Lane
What: Clark is job hunting. And possibly in the way of a certain interpid reporter.
Where: The Daily Planet
When: Early 2011
Rating/Warnings The farmboy and the worldly city girl? Probably not going very high today.
Clark Kent had traveled the world trying to find himself but had eventually realized that the best answers could be found back in the farmhouse that he grew up in. He'd met so many people, experienced so many things, he'd saved lives. He'd even deciphered a little of what his Kryptonian parents had left him. Mostly, he knew what he needed to do with his powers. After much thought, he'd figured out the best place to be in the middle of all the action. A place where he could find a hub of information on what was happening and where it was happening.
A city that might need a little extra help.
The Daily Planet had modernized and it was more than just a newspaper. It was an active website and an entire news network. As such, tips on breaking crises had to be coming into the paper on a daily basis. Perhaps just as important, journalism was a passion of Clark's. Seeking people out and making sure their stories were heard, shining a light on some of the things that others tried to sweep under the rug, calling attention to things going on that needed to be changed, connecting with the world in the best way he knew how. It wasn't his job to just float above everyone like some sort of god who only swooped in when he saw fit. Truthfully, his humble upbringing wouldn't even allow him to consider that word, even if there were some who would end up describing his superhero persona as such.
For now, Clark was in the thick of playing the part of the bumbling, shy, reporter in glasses. He clutched his briefcase tightly and couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed as he made his way to the editor's office. He had gotten more than many aspiring journalists got in convincing Perry White to give him the time of day. Now he had to convince Perry White to give him a job while still clinging to the mild-mannered guise that he'd adopted to keep the two halves of his life separate.
