Well, this weather is quite something, isn't it? I had first thought it must just be down to the latitude - I saw a documentary on sailors during Lord Nelson's time once and you could almost feel the oppressive air when they read from passages in their journals about sailing through the tropics - but even the locals say this is a bit unusual. Rugby's indefinitely postponed both due to a lack of a ball and the weather, I'd say.

Anyway, anyone else notice the weather's giving them weird dreams? I had one the other night about strange blob-like creatures in Downing Street (can you imagine?) and another about being some kind of... lizard creature, I think it was. Very weird, the both of them.

Er, is this thing on? Ha ha... I've been told to introduce myself so hello, I'm Harold Saxon, the new Defence Secretary - sorry, I'm supposed to say Secretary of State for Defence now, aren't I? Well, that's going to take some getting used to! Anyway, I'm fairly new to the position so I hope you'll all bear with me while I figure out what all I'm doing here. I must say, it's quite a nice turn about to have a meeting in a place as nice as this! I look forward to getting to know you all. :-)
