The first job I had in college was with J Crew; I was hired at the end of August, and I immediately put in a request with my supervisor to have my college Christmas break off from work to go home, and it was a brand new store so they were like "Totally!" and then I went in the last week before break and they gave me next week's schedule with five shifts on it, and I was like "..... no?" and they tried to claim I never filled out paperwork for it, but then I produced my copy of it, and instead of being embarrassed, my manager was like "Well, I can't replace your shifts, it's Christmas, no one wants to work!" so I said "Well, I won't be here for them because I have non-refundable plane tickets, so, I guess this is me feeling bad about quitting without notice, but there's nothing I can do," and manager got mad and said fine, okay, finish out this week at least. I did, I went home, I went back to LA thinking I didn't have a job so I went to LOFT and got a job there within like, a week. And then, I get a call from J Crew telling me because I missed three shifts that week without calling in, I was fired? I was like "... I quit four weeks ago???" They were so completely disorganized.
But the clothes are always freakin' classic and amazing, even if a lot of them are cut for very thin banana shapes rather than hourglass ladies. One time I got a cashmere sweater for under $35 because I guess it was a return that had since gone on sale twice, so it was the lone black sweater in the corner of the sales rack full of springtime fare, and I was like "MINE!!!!!!!!" >.>
