FIRST OF ALL: Thank you everyone for the makeup advice. I feel fierce as fuck 90% of the time (as opposed to like, 65% of the time before), and my skin is ***flawless thanks to the CC cream I started wearing. I have already amassed a tiny collection of brightly-colored lipsticks and it grows every time I step into Walgreen's (because I cannot afford $25 makeup, no matter how much I love that NARS pencil sample I got for my birthday).
I have a different dilemma today, and that is one of clothing sizes. The combination of desk job + more money = less movement and ability to eat more foods, so I have gained weight. I do not mind this, and in fact I think I am healthier than I was when I was smaller, and plus I mostly like having some junk in the trunk. HOWEVER, I am now awkwardly between sizes. Summer Is Coming and I mostly enjoy wearing dresses and skirts, though I fear my sizing problems will have me recycling my same 3 pairs of pants for all of eternity, because those fit me no matter what time of the month it is. Most of the time I can squeeze myself into a medium, if I haven't eaten breakfast and I am in that Golden Week of my menstrual cycle when I am slaying everyone in the vicinity with pheromones and generally just looking/feeling like hot shit. And most of the time, larges are too big unless I am bloated as fuck or unless it is an item of clothing that can be easily belted.
So WHAT IS A GIRL TO DO??? Shopping has become a total nightmare because I have to pick up at least 2 or 3 different sizes of anything I want to try on, and by the time I'm done I'm too exhausted to by anything. Not only that, but my weight is distributed such that I have a mostly hourglass figure, so something will fit in the waist and hips but I'll be spilling out of the top (or vice versa). I have given up on wearing anything button-down. I almost want to say "FUCK IT" and start shopping in the men's section of Forever 21 so that I can finally start dressing like this (pretty sure I already basically own this outfit anyway), but DRESSES ARE PRETTY DAMMIT.
I know tailoring is an option, and I'd definitely do it if it was a piece of clothing I really loved. But do you guys know of any brands that are a little more forgiving/have a wider range of sizes than just small/medium/large? Particular styles that are flattering to in-between but curvy and petite bodies? Advice for working with stuff that is just a smidge too small when you don't have enough $$$ to replace your entire wardrobe? Or do you just want to commiserate about how women's clothing is just another oppressive arm of the patriarchy and we are all crushed daily beneath its weight?
THANKS IN ADVANCE ♥
