Spider-man and the beautiful rockstar Who: Eva and Patrick What: Not quite a date date. Right? Maybe. When: Friday Afternoon - 1/04/2013 Where: City park Warning: None
Patrick had been thinking about Eva a lot. It was hard not to think about the only girl in town who seemed interesting in hanging out and communicating with him rather than gawking, pointing or picking on him. Add in the facts that she was smoking hot and interested in music, and Patrick was pretty well sold on the idea of spending as much time with her as possible. So far she was definitely the bright spot in the town. His mother had sussed out that something was up, but wasn’t being pushy. Probably because she didn’t want to send him back into one of his “moods” as she called them. Whatever. It wouldn’t have put much of a damper on his parade although the thought of having to go back to school soon and bother with the interpreter did have him a little down.
That was one of the main reasons why he was so thrilled to take the time to hang out with Eva again before school started back up, and they had to deal with “Alfred” lurking around. Patrick knew that the interpreter was probably having less fun than he was in this predicament, but he still couldn’t manage to be nicer. Not yet. It would just suck for the both of them. That wasn’t anything he wanted to dwell too much on at the moment, though. This was hang out with Eva and try not to stare too much. One good thing about being deaf, though, was that no one thought it was creepy if you constantly watched their face.
Even though it was snowing, they had decided to do something outdoors. It wasn’t like he didn’t have ways to deal with the cold. Making a sweeping gesture at the sky, Patrick signed Beautiful. Just like you. The signs should be easy enough for her to get without the need of any typing, but he waited and watched just to make sure.
Eva was thrilled when Patrick agreed to come out with her. She figured maybe he just wanted to get out of the house but who cared so long as she got to see that cute face of his and that gorgeous grin? She tried not to take too long getting ready and didn't want to look like she was trying too hard so she kept it pretty simple with a pair of jeans, her boots, a sweater and a thin jacket over top of it all. It was cold outside, thanks to the snow, but it wasn't that bad yet. It would be getting colder soon, however, she knew. Thankfully it wasn't that bad at the moment.
She got the jist of what he said and grinned. "Keep calling me beautiful and I'm going to start thinking that you really like me," she warned him teasingly, biting her lower lip though the grin didn't show any signs of flickering out at all. Like he thought about her, Eva felt like Patrick was definitely a bright spot in the town. She'd been much happier as of late than she had been in longer than she could remember. She was just glad to be in his company for a few moments and nothing else seemed to matter much. It was new and different and fun. Something she definitely didn't want to lose.
Bending down, she got a bit of snow and smashed it into a ball and chucked it at his shoulder, then laughed as she began to back away. Not wanting to miss any communication he might give her.
Patrick was dressed less warmly in jeans, a thin long sleeved shirt and his leather jacket, which was open. Being a fire elemental had its advantages, and he loved winter. It made it easier for him to run hot when the rest of the world was cooler. Eva was adorable bundled up with snow in her hair and a very slightly rosy look to her skin from the cold. His eyes lingered on her.
In response to her words, he grinned, shrugging and then signed, You are beautiful, which she should be able to understand pretty easily. As for the other, well, yeah. He did like her. He liked her probably more than he should so soon. For the most part, Patrick had never thought about the possibility of dating a hearing girl. Eva was different. He didn't see her as being hearing. He just saw her as Eva.
The snowball to his shoulder melted faster than it would have had it hit anyone else. As she backed away a bit, he moved forward, grinning and then bent to scoop up his own handful of snow, which was harder for him to pack. The snowball he threw was wetter as a result. It was also a wide enough shot that Eva should be able to move out of its path if she was so inclined. He just shook a finger at her; an amused, teasing warning all of its own that dared her to bring it.
She just smiled at him. She'd never get tired of being told she was beautiful, especially not by Patrick. She believed him every time that he said it. Eva knew she wasn't hideous by any means but she never thought she was beautiful until Patrick started calling her beautiful. By now it was almost like another name for her and she loved the way the word looked when he signed it. He had this way about signing things that just made her want to know more, want to learn more. She wanted to communicate with him on a level that no one else could.
"No fair," she told him, grinning at him even as she let the wet snowball hit her. "You're so hot you're melting my snowballs," she teased. Well, not really teased since it was totally true on more than one level. Darn him for being so gorgeous and so warm blooded. Which just made her think of how awesome it would be to get closer to him since he did run so hot. She packed another snowball and chucked it at him. Then she drew in a breath and flopped backwards into the snow. Snow angels would probably be a better bet than snowballs since he melted them so darn easily. Hotblooded pain in the butt.
Teaching Eva some sign language, texting her, even writing notes was fun, and it was worth the effort. It was especially worth the effort when she smiled like that. It made him wish that he knew what he was doing so he could properly teach her, but signing could take awhile, he knew. There were still times when Victor got things messed up, which Patrick loved pointing out to him, and he had been working on his signing for years. It didn't matter, though. Patrick was pleased with the progress Eva had made and completely astonished at her interest in it.
Patrick made an exaggerated shrug, hands held out and a sheepish smile on his face at her comment about him being so hot. I am fire, he signed, following by And hot. Just to make sure she didn't forget it. He ducked away from the second snowball and then picked it up when it landed, increasing the temperature in his hands so that it melted away in moments. Yeah, he was totally showing off.
When Eva flopped into the snow, he smiled and walked over, picking up a handful of freshly fallen snow to sprinkle gingerly down over her, liking the way it caught in her hair and eyelashes. I should have brought my camera so I could take pictures of you, he typed onto his phone, holding it for her to see. Then he settled onto the snow next to her, on his stomach, head propped up enough to where he could see her lips clearly.
"Totally hot," she'd agreed as soon as he'd signed it. And she didn't really care when he showed off because it was pretty amazing to watch the snowball melt away into nothingness so easily and all because of his fire elemental status. Yeah, she was smitten. Entirely smitten.
She grinned at him when he sprinkled the snow on her, most of the bits melting away easily though a few lingered in her hair and lashes as she looked at the phone to see what he was saying. She flushed a tiny bit but smiled even more broadly. "And why is that?" she asked him. "To admire your snow work?" she teased. "Don't you have a camera in your phone?" She did and she was pretty sure she'd get at least a dozen pictures of him before the day was over. Or at least she hoped so.
He liked when she called him hot, liked it even more because she signed it to him. There was quite a lot to like about Eva, and her physical appearance, as gorgeous as it was, was really just the tip of a very large iceberg. One that would have been big enough to sink the Titanic so it was no surprise it was sinking him quite a lot faster.
Nodding, he started typing again. "Of course. But it sucks. I like my real camera. Everyone wants cookie cutter cell phone, Facebook bathroom mirror smile images. Not the same as actual art. If I'm going to sketch you, I need good pictures." He was grinning broadly when he finally flipped it back for her to see, one of his fingers brushing over her cheek. The difference in their temperatures was evident, and he hoped that he wasn't running too hot for her because he liked how chilly she was and was already tempted to touch her a bit more if it was alright.
God that grin. It was going to do her in, she just knew it. "You want to sketch me?" she asked him, a little surprised to hear that he'd even want to. She didn't care if he had the talent to do it well or not, it didn't matter. He wanted to sketch her. That was more important than the product anyway though she was pretty sure whatever he was to draw would be pretty amazing.
She couldn't focus too much on her own question, however, not when his fingertip touched her cheek. He was definitely much warmer than she was but it was awesome. It made her want to curl in against him. She did tilt her head a little, leaning into his touch. "I'm jealous that you're so warm," she murmured. "Makes me want to get closer," she admitted, hoping that didn't sound too forward or too creepy. God she was crazy for saying it outloud but it was out there already. "You're not even a little cold?" she asked him.
Her question about him wanting to sketch her got an immediate nod in response followed by a flurry of typing on the phone. "You have very striking, classical features. You should be drawn. I'm pretty good. I promise I won't Dali or Picasso you or anything like that." The turning of the phone was accompanied by a slight quirk of an eyebrow.
The last thing she had to worry about was coming across as creepy or forward. Patrick was entirely too captivated by her to think anything she did was either one of those. Actually he sort of liked the suggestion and shifted closer to her to response, keeping the phone in one hand and stroking the other along her cheek and down her neck just slightly. No, he signed followed by another word she would know. Fire. Then he turned her head slightly and kissed her, gently, softly. More of a peck than a proper kiss, but he was trying to get the intent out there without being too forward himself.
She grinned when he gave such an immediate nod. He seemed so interested in drawing her and then went on to tell her how striking and classical her features were and all she could do was blush a little more at the compliments. She was cold but she felt her body heat up a little at the compliments and as he shifted a little closer to her.
She had to admit that she was a little surprised when he kissed her. That didn't mean that she wasn't thoroughly pleased with the action. She couldn't help but blush more deeply, grinning like an idiot once he'd pulled back from the kiss. She wanted to run around screaming happily but she was too excited to even be able to move. At least to move more than she did when she leaned in again to steal another little kiss. Eva felt like she was on fire, his skin and even his lips so warm against her own. When she pulled back, she grinned at him. "You're a really good kisser," she whispered softly, eyes catching his after briefly glancing at his lips. "Been wanting to do that for a while," she admitted. "Glad you beat me to it."
As much as he liked the cold, it wasn't good practice to let your date not date get too chilly while spending time with you. The last thing Patrick wanted was to somehow be responsible for Eva getting a cold so he was more than willing to stay as close as possible in order to keep her warm. If she was willing.
She didn't pull away from the kiss or slap him, both of which were very good things as far as he was concerned. When she leaned in to give him another kiss, Patrick felt his heart rate speed up a bit, and he was possibly now even warmer than he had been a few moments before. He trailed his hand down her cheek when she pulled away from the second kiss, eyes intently on her face in order to catch anything she might say. He just grinned in a cocky way when she said he was a good kisser and then raised both eyebrows questioningly at her at the other statement.
Then he held up a finger and went back to the phone. "Really? I have that effect on girls. How long have you been wanting to kiss me? Tell the truth. You've been stalking me since I moved here, haven't you? That day in the music store was just the first opportunity you had to approach me, right? Without Alfred around anyway."
She flushed even more deeply when he teased her the way that he did. "You're so cocky," she teased him. "I'd seen you around a lot, yeah, but I wasn't stalking you," she promised. "But I've been wanting to kiss you since that day in the music store. It sounds silly," she shrugged a little, tucking her hair behind her ear and letting her eyes flick to his mouth briefly before letting them go back up to his eyes. "I mean you're funny and smart and you didn't think that I was weird... and you kept telling me how beautiful I was. It was hard not to like you. It still is." Which made her feel silly for admitting the words out loud. He probably thought she was ridiculous, but she needed to get it out regardless.
"I think I'd want to spend time with you with or without Alfred," she admitted.
It was hard not to keep smirking when she said things like that, especially when she was all pretty and blushing. Patrick settled his chin back on his free hand, phone secured in his palm, the other hand settled on her cheek as he watched her lips. The smirk had settled into a genuine smile by the time she was finished talking. For a moment he just looked at her before he went back to the phone.
"Well. Then. Just give in and like me. Why fight my irresistible charm? It's a losing battle. Sorry. Serious for a moment. I've been thinking about you since the music store, too. I hope we can spend more time together. Although I vote without Alfred because he might get fussy if I keep kissing you. And I don't have plans to stop unless you're opposed to it." Hopefully she wouldn't be, but he'd deal if it was an issue.
She was getting really used to the way his hand felt warm and gentle against her cheek. She wouldn't be opposed to feeling his skin against her own more often, that was for sure. She read what he wrote out and she smiled a little. "I do like you," she told him truthfully. I think I realized it the moment that we started talking." Which was unusual for a girl like Eva who rarely liked anyone. As for whether she was against more kisses or not, she grinned more broadly. "I'm not opposed," she assured him. "You can kiss me all you want."
"Good," he typed, hating to tear his eyes off her in order to look at the screen and the letters on the keypad. Eva was too pretty not to look at all the time, especially when he needed to watch her lips to see if she was saying anything. Sometimes being deaf had its advantages since it meant he could stare at a girl's perfectly pouty lips without looking like a creeper. "I like you, too. You're different." Beautiful rockstar, he signed to follow up the words he had typed before moving to kiss her again, sucking lightly on her lower lip.
Kissing her made his head swim and only increased the amount of heat that was running through his body. Pulling away with a bit of a groan, he hastily typed out, "Tell me if it gets too hot for you to handle." He waggled his eyebrows when he showed her even though it wasn't really that much of a joke.
She knew she was different but usually when people told her she was the word sounded so negative. Different coming from Patrick made it seem like some grand and wonderful thing. And he liked her, had said as much himself and that meant more than anything else and had her grinning until his lips touched hers and he sucked gently on her bottom lip. It made her groan softly even if he couldn't hear it, no doubt he could feel the sound as it escaped her. Kissing Patrick was so different than kissing any other boy she'd ever come into contact with. Kissing him was all touch and taste and sight. There was no need to listen because the other senses said so much.
Then he went and made that soft little groaning noise and she realized that sound was beautiful as well. "I don't think I'd want to pull away even if you were lighting me on fire," she whispered truthfully as she leaned in and kissed him gently. "Looks like I found my space heater for the winter," she winked. "Guess I'm lucky. Not every girl gets a boyfriend who keeps them as warm as you keep me." She realized what she'd said as soon as the words slipped out and she flushed a little. "I mean... not that you're my boyfriend," she backtracked, hoping she hadn't pushed him in an awkward direction.
He meant the word with all of its good connotations and would have elaborated if she had asked. If anyone knew how the word different could be thrown around in a negative way, it was Patrick. Danville might have been more deaf friendly than a lot of places, owing a lot to the school, there had still been people who treated him like he was dumb because he couldn't hear, people who just didn't get it. Different didn't just have to be that, though. It was special, unique, unlike the other people. It was good and bad just depending on what angle you looked at it from, how you used it.
The vibration from her thrummed through his lips and gave him a pretty good indication that he was doing something she liked. He was beaming at her when she leaned in to give him another soft kiss. He tilted his head slightly to see her lips better as she talked although the blush was distracting. He was tempted to chase it down her neck with kisses but stopped himself.
With a frown, he repositioned himself so that he had both hands free and then shifted to a sitting position, rubbing his hands together for a few moments as he thought before going for the phone. "That was the shortest relationship ever. What was that? Five seconds? Three? There has to be an award for that." After he had given her a chance to read that, he set the phone on his knee. Trying to do the proper signing would be confusing, but he wanted to do this his way. He touched a hand to his chest, pointed at her, grinned and then drew a question mark in the air with a finger.
His words made her flush more and she bit her bottom lip. She just hadn't wanted to make him feel like she was assuming things or rushing him into something. They'd just barely admitted they liked one another and already she was labeling him her boyfriend and taking away all his choices. But then he went and signed a bit and drew that question mark and she arched a brow. "You want me to be your girlfriend?" she questioned, knowing that was the only logical question he could be asking her. So she grinned broadly and used her internet surfing to her advantage and signed her response instead of saying it aloud. Yes.
They were teenagers. They were supposed to be wild and young and impulsive, weren't they? And Patrick had never felt a connection to anyone the way he did with Eva. Something about her just clicked. It made sense. Yeah, it had been a pretty short amount of time, but that sort of thing just happened, right? She wasn't scaring him off with that sort of comment, and he hoped he wasn't going too far by suggesting it. Impulsive had always been one of his personality traits for good or bad.
When she put words to the question, he just tilted his head at her, eyebrows arched, smiling and waiting. When she signed an affirmative answer, he leaned over, hands cupping her face, fingers slipping into her hair and kissed her again. He felt like he might be warm enough now to melt all the snow around them and had to be careful to control the flow of the heat, keep it away from his hands and his face. The last thing he wanted to do was accidentally burn her.
Wild, young and impulsive sounded pretty damn good to her if it ended in a result like the one she was getting in this case. Quick or not, she liked Patrick. A lot more than she'd ever liked any other guy. He brought out the fun and playful side of her that she didn't get to see all that often and any guy who could do that was worth a second and third look. Especially when they were as gorgeous as Patrick was. But even if he hadn't been super cute, he was a good guy. Someone who legitimately cared about her and told her that she was special. That, in truth, meant a lot more than his looks did.
And he had that killer grin that he was giving her now, a grin that she wanted to commit to memory to review over and over again. The fingers in her hair and the kiss that he gave made her light headed, and she softly moaned into his mouth. God he was going to get her drunk on those kisses. She could feel the warmth as it grew hotter but she wasn't phased by it. If anything she just leaned in closer to him, wanting to envelop herself in the heat that exuded from his skin.
He certainly didn't want to stop kissing her, but it would probably be better if they kept moving. For one thing he was probably going to melt all the snow around them if they stayed in one place, which could quickly result in them just having to deal with mud. Coming home covered in mud in January might not be an abnormal experience as far as Patrick was concerned, but it might raise a few eyebrows from Eva's family.
Pulling away, Patrick gave her a grin and them a bit of a shrug before picking the phone back up. "Dating," he typed and then signed it, shaking the phone and then repeating the sign so she could be sure of the association he was making. Then he typed out, "Maybe we should find someplace warmer to hang out. For you. Otherwise I might melt all the snow in park and that would be weird. Coffee?"
"Dating," she signed back, letting him know that she got what he was associating the sign with and smiled at his next offer. "Something warmer sounds good to me," she told him, nodding a little. She was cold, save for her mouth at least. Besides, anything that meant more time with Patrick was a good thing in her book and she intended to take advantage of every second with him she could get. "Though I might be leaning more towards hot chocolate than coffee," she grinned. "Come on, boyfriend, let's get out of here."
Patrick reached out to gently take hold of her hands and then directed them in making the sign again not because she had gotten it wrong but because he liked watching her say that. This place was getting better and better even if the parts without Eva around would probably remain just shy of barely tolerable. Of course now he had the perfect excuse to spend as much time with her as possible.
Standing, he tucked the phone into his pocket and then offered his hands to her to help her up. Once she was on her feet, he went back for the phone. "You can have anything you want. Although I'm not sure that any chocolate you ever order will be as hot as I am. I feel like Spider-man myself. Like I hit the jackpot." He was grinning broadly when he flipped the phone around to face her.
She liked the way that he directed her hands in making that sign again. She liked how it looked, how it sounded but even more she liked how it felt. A boyfriend. Yeah, she liked that word too and most likely would ask him to teach her to say it as well. The town most certainly had brightened up a great deal but it was really no surprise considering how bright a spot Patrick had made upon it. Eva used to be thrilled with the thought of getting out of Duskwood, but now she didn't want to go anywhere, she was content to be right there with Patrick.
She took his hands and let him help her up, brushing herself off and looking at what he wrote out on the phone. "You're so cocky," she teased, flashing him a grin. He had every right to be cocky but Eva was pretty biased when it came to Patrick. "Just because you're dating me?" she asked him, flushing a little though she tried not to draw too much attention to it. "I think we both hit the lottery."
Even though she tried to hide it, he still saw the blush, and it was still one of the cutest things about her. There were a lot of them, of course, and maybe sometime soon he would go through and show her the signs for all of them, which could be a pretty fun show and tell session actually. Nodding, he went back to the phone. "Yeah, like the famous line from Mary Jane where she tells him that he hit the jackpot because he met her. It's like that. I agree with you, though. We both did."
Tucking the phone away into a pocket, he held one hand out while miming drinking something with the other and then drawing a question mark in the air to see if she was ready to go yet. It was cold and snowing and as beautiful as that was, especially when Eva was around, he didn't want her to get too chilly even if he did feel like he could melt the whole world if he kept kissing her.
She grinned even more as he explained where the line came from. "I think I just found a newfound love for things like spider-man," she told him. "Maybe we can watch it together sometime." It sounded like one more fun date to add to the list and she was hoping that the list just kept growing. Coming up with new things to do with Patrick was going to be her newest goal in life apparently, not that it was a bad one by any means.
She took the hand he held out and laced her fingers through his. "Yes, I'm ready," she said, snuggling in against him for a brief moment before turning her face so he could see her mouth again. "I'm about ready to be warmed up a little. Something hot to drink to go with my super hot boyfriend will be nice," she murmured, grinning again. "Let's go."
Patrick had a pretty good idea that trying to watch movies with Eva would end with him watching Eva more than the movie, but he was more than okay with that. In fact it sounded pretty perfect all things considered, especially if it meant kissing Eva more. Grinning, he just gave her a thumbs up in response to that idea.
When she snuggled in against him, he thread his free arm around her waist to hold her a little closer to him. He definitely liked that, and didn't even care if he would have no idea what she said if she was currently talking. Knowing Eva she wouldn't have any issues repeating it to him. Then she looked at him again, and he decided that, yeah, it was better to see her. She was absolutely beautiful, after all. He wouldn't ever get tired of looking at her.
Nodding again, he made a sweeping gesture indicating for her to lead the way before signing Beautiful rockstar at her again. Then he went back to the phone. "I'm down for going anywhere you want to take me, precious."
